May 10, 2010If i downloaded a program to my pc, would I be better off downloading a .rar, or a .zip? What would I need to do to make either work? Pc on windows vista.

Feb 22, 2010My HTC Eris stops receiving mms messages after about 5 weeks and sometimes sms messages dont come thru either. This is the second time this has happened. Often im not even alerted that a message tried to be received. Other times i get this generic message as an incoming message that says who its from, the message size (which always states 30kb), and expires (5 days from the current date). It also shows a gray box that you can touch to download but it tries and then sends a message to the bottom of the phone that says "download of message unsuccessful." Occasionally when a new pic message tries to come thru, it forces an old unsuccessful picture message thru. Verizon has no answer or resolution nor does HTC. I have tried using the other message programs and they dont work either.

Dec 5, 2009What kind of download speed should I expect with my Droid ERIS? Using my 802.11g wireless router I get around 2mb/sec according to spreedtest.net. I get around 1mb/sec using 3G. My laptop gets around 15mb/s over my 802.11g network. I'm guessing that the difference might be because my laptop has 4gb ram and a dual core and the ERIS doesn't.

Jan 26, 2010I set my gmail account with the email icon/app on my home screen.I did it with the POP/IMPAP option because the other one wouldn't work (don't know what either of those mean).My problem is I can't get it to download my emails by itself. I have to go in and refresh. I have set it to check every 5mins and to alert me but it just wont unless I refresh. I'm assuming there's somthing I'm missing.Also, I just discovered there's a gmail app in that list that gets the emails instantly. It will make a sound with a new email, but I have to go to that list then to the gmail app to check.What I want is to be notified of my emails and have some icon be it the email one or the gmail one on my home page that lets me know I have an email.The other thing is the youtube app, but its seems lots of people are having that trouble.Also, how do I sync access my gmail contacts on my phone on either the gmail app or the email app. I can't see contacts on either right now.

Jul 31, 2010I am not sure if there is a hidden setting somewhere that has been reset or this is a flaw with Evil Eris, but whenever it synches with Exchange 2003 it only downloads 100 emails and stops and says 100/179 and is not showing any emails from the past three days.
Also, a few days ago, it got a synch error and said it was out of disk space and I checked my SD card and saw it was very low so I deleted a bunch of MP3s and freed up 6.5 gigs of space but it still doesn't work.
Are the emails actually saved on the SD card or on the phone? When I have the USB plugged in can I browse to their location?
My send/receive setting are:
Mail size: Entire mail
Download frequency: Every 5 mins
Download past mail: 14 days
Include file attachment: Smaller than 2MB
Reply with original text: Checked
Always BCC me: Unchecked
This is my work email and it's critical that it operates properly when I am on call.
HTC Eris :: MMS Pictures Not Downloading
Nov 26, 2009I did a forum search and saw this question asked but didn't see any answers so I'm posting this again hoping someone can help with this most frustrating problem I'm having with MMS. At least 60% of the time when someone sends me a picture message I will get the option to download the picture. When I click "download" the box turns to grey text that says "downloading" but it never downloads, just goes back to the download button. Sometimes I will get a message in my notifications panel saying "Message not downloaded". This happens in both the stock messages program as well as Handcent. Does anyone else have this problem and a suggestion on how to fix it? This is a huge issue for me.

Oct 23, 2009I've got some photos stuck in an MMS that I tried to download before I realised that I didnt have the correct MMS APN settings in (due to swapping to the Modaco ROM). The correct settings are now in but the MMS is stuck at "downloading" status. Is there any way I can rescue it, there is no forward option and I've successfully sent and recieved MMS since.

Jun 3, 2010i just downloaded the speedtest app and i am curious if my speeds are average or sub par. my results are as follows:
down: .21mbps
up: .49mbps
ping: 189ms
i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though

Oct 28, 2010For some reason earlier today I was able to update an app then somone made a suggestion to try a keyboard app when I went to download it, it would just keep cycling I tried downloading something completely different and update another app and it's doing the something. I have done a couple of battery pulls, resets, and cleared the data from the app market by going thru setting(googled that one). Feb 2, 2010I was having problems viewing attachments on my exchange email, for about 2 weeks contacted IT department they have no clue. last night and all day today i was able to view them using the stock quick office. just received a couple emails with attachments and guess what i can no longer view them. tried with and with out wifi turned on and off, no dice. the server is running exchange 2003 i receive and send emails fine. just can't view attachments.also calendar syncs. could it be a bad app? all though i have not downloaded any for weeks now.

Jan 27, 2010Just have a quick question: whenever I download zip files from all....droid(specially the theme files etc) using dolphin browser it asks me to save as "file.php". I usually download it on to my computer and unzip it prior to moving it to my sd card.Tried renaming the .php file to .zip once its downloaded onto the sd card. Problem is that trying to access it gives me an error message. When I do it from a PC it works fine though.

Nov 24, 2009Downloading email from my comcast.net account was working fine - then for some unknown reason it no longer does. If I tap on the folders, the inbox shows that there are the correct number of emails sitting in my inbox on the comcast server, but they never download to the droid.I've tried removing the account and adding it back, same issue. Also, Beautiful Widgets and the southpark photohunter (something a friend tried to download for a reason unknown) are in a constant state of downloading. When I try to cancel the downloads, market simply offers the "Sorry! the application market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." pop up.Along with those problems, I tend to get a security update change notification at least 2 or 3 times for the email application (not the google one) every time I restart my phone.After searching forums the first day I encountered these problems (when I got the bb update) I decided to just ignore the problems until people had time on their own with their new setup.

Aug 23, 2010After receiving the Froyo OTA update and realizing that it totally broke all of the features I use on my Droid (streaming audio, silent mode, etc.), I have downgraded to Bugless Beast v1.1.
I am finding that BBv1.1 is continuously downloading the OTA update from Verizon over and over in the background. If I go to Settings | About Phone | System Updates, I see a status bar indicating the download progress for the OTA update. The OS never requests to install the update, but it keeps downloading repeatedly. This is absolutely killing my 3G bandwidth, making web browsing nearly impossible. It is also killing my battery life (about 10 hours on idle).
How the hell do I stop BB v1.1 from downloading this OTA update that I do not want?
