What kind of download speed should I expect with my Droid ERIS? Using my 802.11g wireless router I get around 2mb/sec according to spreedtest.net. I get around 1mb/sec using 3G. My laptop gets around 15mb/s over my 802.11g network. I'm guessing that the difference might be because my laptop has 4gb ram and a dual core and the ERIS doesn't.

i just downloaded the speedtest app and i am curious if my speeds are average or sub par. my results are as follows:
down: .21mbps
up: .49mbps
ping: 189ms
i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though
I just bought a wireless N router and to my disappointment the X shows a download speed of 65mbps. Is that the max speed or do I have to make some kind of adjustment?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy download speeds have been roughly 512kps with full 3g reception (testing with the speed test app). I've tried *228 option 2 and the *22899 with no success. I have recently rooted but had the problem before that. That leads to my second question.I haven't called verizon yet, should I unroot before I do? If something similar has been posted im sorry, I could not find it. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

If I set my EVO down right next to it (running CM6 nightlies), I am getting almost no signal and DL speed of only 1.5 mbps. Ok, not to ask a stupid question, but since they are both on N, why is my computer getting so much better signal and faster download?

this code seems working fine but it is taking too long. is their any way I can make this process faster.
During past few day ran three speed tests (speedtest.net) using home WIFI connection. Couldn't believe the download speeds:
(1) 9,885 kbps
(2) 12,181 kbps
(3) 13,372 kbps
My Eris was maybe a tenth of this. Definitely worth the switch. Wonder how it compares to the competition?
Is there any reason that download speeds over my Wifi are soooo slow? I'm downloading a 150MB file from usenet and it's going to take about 20 minutes. Same file from this pc over the same Wifi takes under 2 minutes. I'm not looking for the exact same speed (though it would be awesome) but something more reasonable would be nice. Could it be the SD card is too slow in write performance? Just wondering if this is an issue with the phone, or a simple SD card upgrade.

However doing speed tests on my phone while connected to the Netgear router the highest speeds I seem to be able to get is around 2 Mbps. Is there anything I can do to increase the speed to which my phone can download from the router?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Eris does not seem to be taking advantage of the WiFi speed capabilities of my home network. I just tested my network in multiple ways. I'm getting good connection speeds on all devices EXCEPT my Eris. Here's what I did:
1. I went to Speakeasy.net and tested the hard wired internet connection speed to my PC. The result was 22 mbps down.
2. I tested the wireless connection speed to my laptop, also via Speakeasy.net. Again, 22 mbps.
3. I tested the wireless connection speed to my wife's iMac, also via Speakeasy.net. Once again, 22 mbps
4. I tested the connection speed on my Eris (repeatedly) via a speed test app that I downloaded from the Market. Only 2.5 mbps.
5. I loaded the Speakeasy.net website in my Eris' Android browser and ran the same test. Only 2.9 mbps. So, all wired and wireless devices in the house are getting ~ 22 mbps, while my Eris is getting significantly less. Specifications:
-Eris is running default Android 1.5 OS
- Home wireless router is a Netgear Wireless-N Router model # WNR2000 running in WPA-PSK [AES] security mode. "Mode" is set to the highest -- "Up to 300 mbps."

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife's stock 1.5 Eris got the 2.1 update the other day. Since then she cannot setup her speed dials. It goes through like it works, but there are still no speed dials in the list. I cleared cache and data from Dialer and the two People apps in the manager, but it hasn't resolved it. VZW support last night had me do a battery pull, but that also didn't help.
So other than the Factory Reset option, is there anything I can do? Are there any apps specific to Speed Dials? I'd like to avoid the reset at all costs, if possible.
I charge it from the wall outlet, my home PC, my work laptop, and also my car cigarette lighter. I kinda feel like they charge at different rates, but I have a hunch that's not true.

It seems at least on this forum that everyone has 2.2 via a forced update. Very few people have chimed in that they got a ota.However, given that vzw is releasing the droid2 on Thu the 12th, I would think that this is going to have the newest froyo, not the version released ota that everyone forced with. Correct thinking?
If that is also true, then shouldn't we be seing something coming out ota for us 2.1 droid 1 users very shortly? anyone have any dates?
Whenever I download a pic off internet or from a background app it says it downloaded to as card but I cant find it in any of my folders. Also is there any way to access your card from the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Eris stops receiving mms messages after about 5 weeks and sometimes sms messages dont come thru either. This is the second time this has happened. Often im not even alerted that a message tried to be received. Other times i get this generic message as an incoming message that says who its from, the message size (which always states 30kb), and expires (5 days from the current date). It also shows a gray box that you can touch to download but it tries and then sends a message to the bottom of the phone that says "download of message unsuccessful." Occasionally when a new pic message tries to come thru, it forces an old unsuccessful picture message thru. Verizon has no answer or resolution nor does HTC. I have tried using the other message programs and they dont work either.
