Motorola Droid :: 2 Market Apps Always Downloading
Nov 1, 2010
I'm running BB v.05 w/ Chevy no 1 ulowV 1.0Ghz Whenever I switch batteries or restart my phone, a lot of my apps need updating (updates that have already been downloaded). Also, Beautiful Widgets and the southpark photohunter (something a friend tried to download for a reason unknown) are in a constant state of downloading. When I try to cancel the downloads, market simply offers the "Sorry! the application market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." pop up.Along with those problems, I tend to get a security update change notification at least 2 or 3 times for the email application (not the google one) every time I restart my phone. After searching forums the first day I encountered these problems (when I got the bb update) I decided to just ignore the problems until people had time on their own with their new setup.

I've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?

As of now I'm unable to get anything from the app Market, everything is coming up "download unsuccessful". Is there a way to download apps, from the market, to a computer and then install the .apk file?

Just like the topic says. I had Froyo Android 2.2 and did do a successful download to android 2.1 and everything works but the market. Occasionally it will download a app or two but then it just gets stuck and never will download anything. I'm guessing this has something to do with being on 2.2 then downgrading to 2.1. It is a google server issue or something on my phone?

Yesterday I opened up the Android Market to see if I had any updates. There were several, one of them was ROM Manager. The updates downloaded and installed except for ROM Manager. ROM Manager failed to download. After several attempts throughout the day it eventually downloaded, but didn't go past 100% downloaded, not even attempting (seemingly) an install.
I tried rebooting, uninstalling ROM Manager, clearing cache, etc. I still have this symptom. I reinstalled ROM Manager from the apk but the constant download attempt persists in the marker. Any ideas? I thought about clearing market data and installing from an apk, but I don't see any reliable looking downloads for the market apk.

Up until yesterday, I've had no problem with downloading anything from android market, but now its seems nothing will work for me. I can access all the apps easily enough but when it comes to downloading them it won't work. I'm using my home WiFi connection. I'm also no where near my data allowance from orange. Anyone else had any problems?

I'm a new HTC Hero owner - just bought the phone yesterday. I have downloaded apps from the Android Market, but last night and today, my phone will get into a state where I will select an app to download, it will tell me to watch the notification bar for download status, and nothing will happen. If I select the app in the store to look at the download progress, it just says: "downloading...." with the animated bar, but never downloads. I tried turning off the phone and turning it back on, and that seemed to correct the problem for one download, but then subsequent downloads won't start up. I have barely installed any apps on it, and I'm not really sure what the problem is. Is this a known issue with the Android Market, or do I have something wrong with my phone? Has anyone else encountered this and know why it's happening?

I am under the impression that Nandroid backup & restore completely wipes the system data and overwrites with a saved image of the Android OS with whatever was on the phone at the time of backup. I created a backup to my SD Card, installed an app (ROM Manager)--couldn't get it to work so I uninstalled it. I then did a restore on my previously saved backup and right after booting up, I see a notification, open it, and catch ROM Manager downloading again to, eventually, install itself. How does the market, or my phone, know that this app was previously installed? Is it saved to my Google account somewhere? Is the data stored on my SD Card? My Nandroid backup that was created without the app being installed shouldn't have this information still on it should it?

my problem isn't downloading apps from the market. My problem is that I cannot log into my gmail to use market. What happen is I would be prompted to enter my user/pass, which I do, then I would get security check (enter the words in the twisted picture) and then it'd keep giving me different words after I've enter them even though I am very confident I got them correctly. It'd just keep giving me new words to enter. Anyone know how I can fix it?

Does anyone know how I can download apps outside Android Market. I'm suppose to have a link in my applications folder to allow me to download from "unknown sources", but the brain wizards at AT&T decided to remove it form my Xperia X10 in an agreement with sony!

I'm experiencing problems when trying to download apps from the Market over WiFi; I can browse the Market perfectly over WiFi, but when I try download and install it gets stuck, until I turn WiFi off and activate a 3G data connection, then everything works. Does anybody knows if it is supposed to be a bug or a feature?

For some reason earlier today I was able to update an app then somone made a suggestion to try a keyboard app when I went to download it, it would just keep cycling I tried downloading something completely different and update another app and it's doing the something. I have done a couple of battery pulls, resets, and cleared the data from the app market by going thru setting(googled that one). Does anyone have any suggestions what to do next or what maybe causing it?

I am new to downloading apps on a smartphone, but I see that many of them are made by what appears to be individual people, and are free, does this mean there is any kind of concern for any virus, or others (or the app maker) to get into my info. I know it tells you the app will have access to all of your phone data.. should I be at all concerned with the possibility of anything happening from getting free apps made by individuals?

Yesterday, I noticed that the Social Networking app was not updating. I couldn't find any setting to sync it manually, so I figured maybe a factory reset would do the trick. So....after I did the reset, I noticed that none of my apps were downloading. They all said "downloading" but nothing was happening. So I ended up just restoring from a nandroid backup I did before the reset. Im glad to say that the Social Networking is updating now, but apps are still not downloading . I went to settings/applications/market and cleared the data and rebooted. Still nothing.

My installed apps aren't showing up in the downloads section of the market. Yet if I search for them in the market it says they are installed and I am able to update them. I read that installing a new app somehow refreshes the list so I tried that but didn't help. Tried the market doctor in TiBu that didn't work either. So then clicked restore all apps and after that didn't work I went as far as to wipe my phone and reflash my rom and restored my apps again with TiBu, still nothing.

What is the safest/best way to pay for apps in the Market?
It asks for a credit card, is this what most are doing?
I thought I had read that some were using PayPal, if so is this better?
