Motorola Droid :: Downloading Apps Safe Or Not

Nov 6, 2009

I am new to downloading apps on a smartphone, but I see that many of them are made by what appears to be individual people, and are free, does this mean there is any kind of concern for any virus, or others (or the app maker) to get into my info. I know it tells you the app will have access to all of your phone data.. should I be at all concerned with the possibility of anything happening from getting free apps made by individuals?

Motorola Droid :: Safe Default Apps To Remove

May 11, 2010

Why is there not a sticky listing default apps that are safe to remove and, probably more importantly, NOT safe to remove? Seems like this would be good info (especially for noobs) to see.

Motorola Droid X :: Not Downloading Apps?

Oct 28, 2010

For some reason earlier today I was able to update an app then somone made a suggestion to try a keyboard app when I went to download it, it would just keep cycling I tried downloading something completely different and update another app and it's doing the something. I have done a couple of battery pulls, resets, and cleared the data from the app market by going thru setting(googled that one). Does anyone have any suggestions what to do next or what maybe causing it?

Motorola Droid :: 2 Market Apps Always Downloading

Nov 1, 2010

I'm running BB v.05 w/ Chevy no 1 ulowV 1.0Ghz Whenever I switch batteries or restart my phone, a lot of my apps need updating (updates that have already been downloaded). Also, Beautiful Widgets and the southpark photohunter (something a friend tried to download for a reason unknown) are in a constant state of downloading. When I try to cancel the downloads, market simply offers the "Sorry! the application market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." pop up.Along with those problems, I tend to get a security update change notification at least 2 or 3 times for the email application (not the google one) every time I restart my phone. After searching forums the first day I encountered these problems (when I got the bb update) I decided to just ignore the problems until people had time on their own with their new setup.

Motorola Droid X :: Market Apps Finish Downloading But Unable To Install

Oct 3, 2010

I've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?

Motorola Droid X :: Use Titanium Backup To Delete Apps That Are Safe For Delete Like Amazon.mp3 Etc?

Jul 23, 2010

Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:

1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?

2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?

3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?

4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?

Motorola Droid X :: Installing App Using ADB All That Safe?

Jul 29, 2010

I'm getting my Droid X next Friday, coming from a rooted Droid. I was thinking about rooting the DX before actually activating it by doing the Android screen corner taps; mainly because I want to install Titanium Backup using ADB, so that I can go ahead and restore all of my apps without having to wait for a Market sync, and so that I don't have to go back into each app and set them up. My question (well... more like a couple questions) is installing an app using ADB all that safe?--I read somewhere it was kind of sketchy. And would it even be safe to outright bypass activation/setup to root and do this? Thanks!

Samsung Behold 2 :: Safe To Remove Stock Apps / Services For Speed Up

Apr 17, 2010

This thread is for speeding up android and improving battery life for Behold 2.I learned back in my days of ignorance(iphone days, lol) that by removing certain startup apps, services, and languages you can make the phone faster, and have better battery life, you can do same thing on android.Less services=more RAM,more CPU power, faster os,better battery. Updated Things you will need: Root and Root Explorer app or ADB,there is probably other apps you can use also.

With your Root Explorer or Astro navigate to /system/app folder, cut and paste any service or app that you don't need to a backup folder on sdcard. That way if you removed something that you might need later you can always put it back (NOTE:when you put back apps that you removed don't forget to set permissions, that's the reason i recommend using Root Explorer because other file managers to my knowledge wont let you set permissions on files)..................
