I received the update notification last Sun. I did exactly what it said and have been having problems w/ my poor phone ever since. Biggest problem is that my phone DOES NOT ring when someone calls. So I know how to use electronics, I know how to read manuals, I know how to work settings, etc. I'm not a beginner. However I do need help. My phone doesn't ring audibly. I do get vibrate, but no sound. Rings don't work with standard system ringtones, my music, ringdroid ringtones. All I get is vibrate.On the other hand, notification tones are working perfectly fine (from anywhere).
View 15 Replies View Relatedso we just got the Eris for my gf (I have a rooted droid) and she's loving the phone, but is def a BIG adjustment from the blackberry. The biggest problem that we are having is that the phone will not ring until about the 3rd or 4th ringtone, which by the 6th or so, it goes to VM anyways.... so If I call her (or anyone) I'll hear the calling tone from my end, and on the 4th one or so, finally her phone will ring, but you have about 5 seconds then it goes to voice mail... can anyone help me with this? if it matters, I do have google voice setup with gvoice as the stock vmail... I don't remember if it was doing that before this

I tested it at work and called my phone from my work line and it took about 4 rings until my Eris started to actually ring. Is this normal or do I have an issue?

I would prefer a Moto first gen Droid, or a Droid 2, but right now I'm waiting until June to get a new upgrade because the people at Verizon seem to think that two years is not too long for a smart phone upgrade, especially a Android phone. View 16 Replies View Relatedi have a deadspot on my screen in the bottom left hand corner. so anytime i want to hit the Shift button or type "z" or "c" i have turn my phone sideways. then as soon as i start typing that way i have to turn my sideways again to type "m" or hit the NUM button.i signed a 2 year contract with Verizon after they convinced me to buy the Eris instead of the MotoDroid. after this one it will be my 3RD Eris. the earpiece in the first one died within a month and this one is the buggiest, slowest, most horrible batter life ever phone (not to mention a dead spot in the screen). are there any chances they'll upgrade me to a better phone and this p.o.s.? or when you bring it in to get it replaced do they just ship you a new crappy Eris?

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

Received my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?

I went ahead and downloaded the Calendar Pad for Android and it is really great. It went and synched with the Calendar app native to the device, which is find because i really like the UI.
But I need a separate calendar app for my work stuff. I don't want them on the same calendar (way too crowded).
Anyone know of an app that just "keeps to itself"? I searched and I couldn't find one.
I have been having a lot of problems with my DX. Verizon told me that some of my issues would be solved if my phone were pre-loaded with 2.2 instead of having a phone that was upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2. So they sent me a new phone and told me that it would be pre-loaded with 2.2. When the phone arrived, it had 2.1 on it.
Do I keep the new phone and use it with 2.1? Do I keep the new phone and ugrade it to 2.2 to see if it's better than my old phone. Do I keep my old phone?
If you could do it all over again, would you upgrade to 2.2?
If you are interested, my problem 2 biggest problems are:
1) My phone doesn't seem to hold a 3g signal. It regularly drops from 3g to 1x and back to 3g. The phone goes 4 bars to 1 bar and back again.
2) My phone consantly missings emails. You can see the emails in my inbox if I go through a brower, but the email app doesn't show them no matter how many times I refresh.

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTried to set an alarm on the default clock app on the Legend. To my surprise, it never went off when it was supposed to. When I tested it I was quite shocked to find that the built-in/default sounds wouldn't play. When it put I enabled the vibrate checkbox, it began to vibrate at the set time but there was no sound. So I downloaded an alarm app from the droid marketplace and it worked fine. Even the default Legend sounds were working in the app. When I went back to the built-in alarm, the sounds started playing normally. Not sure what could've caused this. Could it have something to do with the task-killer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Eris has been a good phone for me except the mentioned issues. The fix the worked for me was to remove the appollo software task manager. It kept closing something I xouldnt see and caused me issue. I went from 5 resets a day to 5 days and no reset. I now use task manager 1.11.9 with 0 issues.
