Is there a dialer that will let me choose which number to ring from a contact directly (long press ?) ?
Going to a contact to choose is getting annoying !

I've been trying to find out how to choose which contact phone number to call. I'm talking about if I have a mobile number and home number programed to one name.
I'm sure this is an easy thing to do, I just can't figure it out right now.
It is my first smartphone. I put in all my contacts manually so that I could get the feel of the phone and learn the basics. On all my previous stupid phones, the contact phone number automatically formated to 901-555-1212. With the Eris it is 9015551212. Anyway to change this? I have searched other threads with the same question but no one ever replies. I have search the net with no luck. Should I just take it that there is no way to automatically change this. I have gone through and put in the extra ticks between the numbers manually but that is a pain in the arse.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhile using the speed dial widget that comes with the Eris, is there a way to put two contacts of the same person in, but with different numbers?For example,I want both my fiance's cell and his work number in those 9 slots, but I can only choose one as the default and if I go to add him in another slot, he isn't even available as a choice under my People.I can make him a wholly separate contact for his work info obviously, but I was just wondering if there was a sleeker way?

For the past week, I noticed some of my contact priority number was defaulting to the number I least call. This morning, while trying to figure how to make priority changes, I noticed it was due to linking it to facebook.
I linked my wife's info with her facebook and the priority number (mobile) pushed it to her home number information she has on her facebook account. So instead of me just going to click on my wife's name or say a command to call wife, I have to scroll to find the number I want to call.
I there a fix for this to let us set the priorities?
I would like to setup a shortcut that when I press the icon it goes directly to the phones dialer pad. I had a shortcut on my nexus 5 but cant remember how it was setup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
How do you set a ring tone for a contact. I know how to do it on and eris but cant figger out how to do on the x.

Problem is the picture selection seems to be completely random. Some contact pictures are from gmail, some contact pictures are from fbook and some are from gmail when I first setup the phone and never changed. Is there an easy way to help the phone 'decide' which photo to go with?

It wont let me choose contact when starting a new message. Usually when i start to type a contact name it auto finds contacts with those letters. I get nothng now. I uninstalled and re-installed but it happened again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've developed an application which has a service and boot completed receiver. The boot completed receiver schedules the service to be executed after every 7 minutes. The boot completed receiver saves its context in a public static variable which is then accessed by service whenever it is scheduled by scheduler. The service first gets the IMEI number of phone and then saves it to a file if it is not already saved. Everything worked smoothly but then i logged into market place and after that the scheduled service was not able to get IMEI number directly , neither was it able to open the file which had already been created and it keeps on throwing nullpointer exception for both direct IMEI retrieval and attempt to open file.................

Had my phone two days and I've already managed to screw it up. Gmail through the browser works fine. Notifications of new mail work fine; I can pull down the notifications bar up top, click on the mail note, and read/mark everything fine from there. But I'm screwed once I exit that. See, I can't just access gmail directly through the app. If I click on it, I get a black screen saying "your mail will appear shortly" and a note in the bar up top saying "waiting for sync". Just cleared Gmail data.
View 4 Replies View Relatedso we just got the Eris for my gf (I have a rooted droid) and she's loving the phone, but is def a BIG adjustment from the blackberry. The biggest problem that we are having is that the phone will not ring until about the 3rd or 4th ringtone, which by the 6th or so, it goes to VM anyways.... so If I call her (or anyone) I'll hear the calling tone from my end, and on the 4th one or so, finally her phone will ring, but you have about 5 seconds then it goes to voice mail... can anyone help me with this? if it matters, I do have google voice setup with gvoice as the stock vmail... I don't remember if it was doing that before this

I just moved from a Blackberry and I was able to do it on those phones I see you can have different ring tones per contact. However I sleep during the day (work nights) and i put my phone on silent but on my blackberry i could have a profile set for only my girlfriend and my phone would ring no matter if i had it on silent or not.
Is this possible on a droid?
Id really hate to have my phone going off all day long just so i would be able to hear my girlfriend call.
Was out today and called up some numbers for restaurants in the browser. I tried to copy the number from the browser so I could paste it into the dialer. I managed to get the number to the clip-board, but then I couldn't paste it into the dialer! I'm using a DSTL1 which only has soft keyboard and I can't get combinations of shift and menu to make it work.

Ex: My wife sent me a text containing the phone number of a client. On previous phones, that number would be a hyperlink and when I clicked it the dialer would open with that number pre-inserted. It seems on the moment I have to memorize the number, go to the dialer and input it in. This isn't so easy when your driving or doing much of anything.
Is there any app or setting that allows me to automatically input the number into the dialer? I tried copy and paste but you cant paste into the dialer.
Does anyone knowa way to set up a shortcut or widget to go directly to search all people. This phone is too slow to open people and then also wait for the search window to open. Lately I have just been searching contacts through the dialer since it is faster.
