Is there a way to make my phone add the dashes that normally show up when you put in a phone number.I just get a list of numbers with no dashes or no spaces and it is very hard to tell if I mistyped the number.

I was curious to know if anyone is aware of any program that allows you to make calls and adds the dashes in the number as you type them. For instance, right now with the Inc when placing a call, the number displays like this:
5555555555
Anyone know if there's a way to make it:
555-555-5555
A little easier on the eyes. I doubt that there is something like this but thought I'd ask.
In my app I want to have the user selecting a telephone number from the contacts list. How do I do that. Selecting a contact is easy. Is there also an easy way to first see the contact list and then see the telephone numbers of that contact and in the end return the telephone number to my app that the user selected.

My Treo when locked, would only show the time, My name and a telephone number. In the case I lost it, some good samaritan could contact me when they realize the phone was useless with out the PIN.

I am facing one problem in message view. Bacically what I need to do is in message view I want to mark any telephone number or web address in different color. Can anyone please tell me where exactly the text is been written in Message View? On clicking this items it should launch appropriate event. If anyone touches a telephone number it should launch the dialer or if it is a valid email address then it should launch the Compose message event and so on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMe and my trusty G1 have recently moved out of the US. Im running CM's latest, and just like the stock ROM, phone numbers stored in the phone have the xxx-xxx-xxxx US format. This format does not apply to most countries outside of the US. So here when someone calls (or when im trying to add a new contact) phone numbers tend to look weird since phone numbers here have an XX-XXX-XXX format (8 digits total), and so they end up showing as XXX-XXX-XX, which is just confusing.
So in short, is there any way to stop the dashes from showing up in the call log/ caller id/adding new contact form??
I noticed when I search for a business or whatever and google finds a phone number, I click on it and it thinks it is a web page. It should open up the dialer and call the number.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIt is my first smartphone. I put in all my contacts manually so that I could get the feel of the phone and learn the basics. On all my previous stupid phones, the contact phone number automatically formated to 901-555-1212. With the Eris it is 9015551212. Anyway to change this? I have searched other threads with the same question but no one ever replies. I have search the net with no luck. Should I just take it that there is no way to automatically change this. I have gone through and put in the extra ticks between the numbers manually but that is a pain in the arse.

What I've noticed is that while I can see the phone-numbers of people in my contacts list people whose number I do not have show up as, bear with me, "Unknown". When I navigate to "Call History", (Say a friend whose number I don't have calls me). I can't add their number to my contact list. This is an increasingly frustrating problem for me. I'll navigate to the "Call History" screen and find that there's no way for me to identify what numerical-phone number called me. There will simply be the designation; "Unknown", while holding down on the entry (while the time/length of the call can be viewed). There is no way to add nor even view, the again, [Unknown] number to my contact list. Phones are ultimately communication devices, if I can't find a solution, well, I'm convinced that I'm going to have to down-grade from a smart-phone to something capable of recording and adding unknown numbers.
