View 3 RepliesI've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
I'm new here and my Droid X is my first android phone. I was just wondering how do I check the number of txt messages I have as of right now? Me and friend txted each other a lot the first and second day I got it and i think i went through over 300 in 2 days. I just want to know like how to check the exact number, if i even can.

How do we create an installer system that upgrades applications automatically. We were thinking of getting version numbers and querying the backend to get current versions and downloading them. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a droid, and google voice. I have setup my 5th number as xxx-xxx-xxxx, and tmobile as the name. If I go into GV settings and select :use google voice for all of my calls", does that mean that they will all be free since they are using the GV# for both in and out calls?

Regardless of the sanity of my decision the device saves me about 2 hours per day (I use it mainly to read pdf and build an xls database).
I've converted many apk to bar in order to sideload them to my device (not all of these work). Recently I tried Firefox on my Xperia mobile and was quite pleased with the ABP plugin So I tried to convert the apk but both the apk2bar and the Blackberry Graphical Aid Tool complain that the version number is too long...
How to shorten it? In what file is it located?
In Settings > About Phone > System Updates, it says "Android Update 1.5" at the top, and when I click download everything seems to go smooth, and it says "Requires a restart". So I power my phone down, power it back up, and go to System Updates, and it still says I need "Android Update 1.5". Is there a way to check if the update actually happened, or what should I do?
View 16 Replies View RelatedThis morning I power cycled my Eris for for first time in a week or so. After that, the notificaton area said I have four updates waiting.I think I selected the "My Tracks" app for update, but when I did, it told me to make sure I had at least 40% battery charge, the phone would be unusable during the update, etc., and it proceeded to install the OTA update to build 1.17.605.1.That's fine, but now the phone doesn't show any apps with available updates. Will these apps automatically notify me again that updates are available? Do all apps routinely check?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way that I can check a text message while on the web, then return to the same spot I was?
I'm pretty sure that if I open up the browser, most of the time it will take you back to the last page you were on.
But if i click on a link in gmail that takes me to this site, for instance, then I get a text message, i cant read my text message without having to back out of the webpage i'm on and loosing my spot.
Which is pretty frustrating.
Is there something I'm overlooking?
Or maybe a different browser?
How do you make it so the phone doesn't automatically check for emails? I get so few that it would be better for me to be able to simply do a "manual" check when I want, rather than have the phone check all the time. Besides, I don't NEED to be notified every time I get an email since most are crap anyway.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAll great website I have been reading for months. I have a Yahoo email question. When I use the program "mail" on my Eris and input my email and password it automatically uses an imap server. I notice that on the imap server I cannot use WiFi to check my email. When I use the Yahoo mail as a pop server it works perect on WiFi. I don't understand the difference. Which is better imap or pop?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI woke up after a nap this afternoon (you know, after coloring but before recess ) ... and i had received a text and i went to reply and my auto correct didnt know the word 'you' 'eat' and a few others and i am sure there are many more i will find. i do not know how to fix it. i guess i will just have to work through it and add the words it doesnt know.
But also if i type 'lol' then by default 'LOL' will come up if i press space unless i manually go up and select 'lol' in the little word list predict thing <--yes, that is the actual HTC given name , this is also the case for many other words and if i add the word to the dictionary it still might not use it automatically. even if i spell it right and it is in the list it may use another word when i press space.
I'm pretty sure I saw a thread about this before, but couldn't find it once I actually needed it. Anyways, I'm having trouble with getting my notification for my email to go away. It's not a problem with gmail, but the mail app. The notification disappears from the notification bar once I check my email, but the "1" stays in the icon for the mail app even after I've deleted it. I've checked all my folders, inbox, drafts, sent, etc. and there's nothing in any of them. Any fixing?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are using Hudson to automate our Android build. I need to incorporate the build number into the version string used in our app. Was wondering if anyone had an example of doing that before I (re?)invent that wheel. Obviously I need to replace a string value in one of our config files.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEveryone probably has the exact same Build Number, but than again, maybe a couple don't. So after a search, I was not able to find a thread like this, so here it is. I just received my X10 yesterday and per Sony Support, my X10 has the current OS. So here is my info:
Firmware Version: 1.6
Baseband Version: 1.1.32
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-rel
Build Number: R2CA016
I was wondering if it is possible to have Eclipse automatically increment the build version number inside of the Manifest each time that I either build or run an Android app. Has anyone ever done something like this?

un-check flash in the settings, clear cache and restart the phone.
I haven't had any crashes or forced closes since I did this.
When I receive an email a number in a green bubble with the number of emails appears on the email icon. The problem is when I check the email or delete the emails the number on the icon does not go away. The number just resets after I get in new emails.
