HTC Desire :: Insert Pause In A Telephone Number?
May 2, 2010Can anyone advise how to insert a *pause* in a telephone number ?.
I am using some access numbers to dial abroad, and i want to insert the a pause before the telephone number that i am calling, continues ?
a have had a google about, and some other android phones seem to confirm its the comma (,) that inserts a pause.
can anybody confirm this, who may be using this.

May 20, 2010Last night I was trying to send a friend anothers friends mobile number via a text message. I assumed that there would be an easy way to copy the number from my contacts and paste it into a text message. However I couldn't work it out and had to go down the traditional route of writing it on a piece of paper then sending the text! Hardly a good advert for the new 'uberphone' that the desire is billed as! So, is there a way to do it?

Sep 20, 2010I am facing one problem in message view. Bacically what I need to do is in message view I want to mark any telephone number or web address in different color. Can anyone please tell me where exactly the text is been written in Message View? On clicking this items it should launch appropriate event. If anyone touches a telephone number it should launch the dialer or if it is a valid email address then it should launch the Compose message event and so on.
Another question is whether to display message is Android uses the WebView?

Jun 22, 2010I know this may seem to be an odd question but it's driving me mad, by any chance does anyone know how to insert the euro "�" symbol into a text message? I used to be able to do this easily on a Nokia phone but I can't seem to be able to do it on the Hero, the only option I have is to type out the word "euro".

1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)
2. He is my Gmail contact as well.
3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.

May 4, 2010Coming from a Treo 700wx that I use thru Active Sync, and connect to my companies exchange server.
My Treo when locked, would only show the time, My name and a telephone number. In the case I lost it, some good samaritan could contact me when they realize the phone was useless with out the PIN.
I cannot find anything similar to this on the Incredible.... Can someone assist me?

May 12, 2010I am switching from a BB. I receive text messages from my office with client's phone numbers. We prefer to keep our mobile numbers private, so we need to block our caller id on a per call basis. It wouldn't work for us to block caller id on all calls. On my BB, I would copy and paste the number and then add *67 as a prefix.
On the Hero I can't find a way to edit the phone number from the text message. I can delete it, but can't add to it. Most of these numbers I would not want to add to my address book. I had my office text the number with *67 as a prefix, but the Hero doesn't recognize the *. It just copies the digits. What workaround options do I have?

9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. Msg 2114
All of my contacts numbers and in 10 digits example: 123 - 456 - 7890 this only happens with certain contacts but I don't see what the issue is. Does anyone else get this issue or know how to fix it?

Aug 10, 2010When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name.
When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!

Apr 15, 2010Got a HTC desire but having problems entering the message centre number. Every time I enter the number and go back the main menu and go back the message settings it has not saved. Confirmed with TMobile that the number is correct but they couldn't help me further.

Jun 25, 2010I've had my Desire for a couple of months now, love it, and very little I can complain about (except the occassional SD card problem!) However, I went to text today, and in the "To" field, I started typing, attempting the special "just press the number, and we'll guess the corresponding letter" approach, which I've used throughout my time with the phone. However, it didn't work: instead, it's just offering me T9 or normal ABC - it's not doing the clever guessing thing. For example, if I wanted to text my mum, stored as "mum" in my phone book, I'd usually type "686", however, now, that's simply coming up with "mtm". I don't think I switched any option, but if I inadvertently did, I can't find where to undo it.

Jun 3, 2010Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

Jul 7, 2010I had my Desire for for a couple of months & love it but the mrs has just got a Wildfire & i have noticed when i text a message the TO box and the TAP TO COMPOSE boxes are about the same size with a big black box in between them that you cannot drag to alter size when the phone is held upright but on the Wildfire the TAP TO COMPOSE box is the is massive with a send & a attach button on the side when held upright. How do you alter this on the desire? When both phones are turned on the side the TAP TO COMPOSE box is big on both. Also the Wildfire has a torch app which uses the LED on the camera which is not on the Desire but the screen is so dull compared to my phone.

Oct 9, 2010I have had my Desire for just over a month now and still haven't worked out how to get the text message alert to repeat. I have my phone on silent/vibrate when I'm at work, and I have sometimes found that a text comes in while I'm away from my desk and I don't discover this until later. Or even when I've got the sound switched on I don't always notice it if I'm in a noisy environment, or maybe I don't feel the vibration in my pocket. My previous phones have always produced the alert tone/vibration every few minutes until I read the message. Can this be done with the Desire, and how?

I get the normal 1 and now a another 1 saying new message(s) which will clear if i click. Also my text message ringtone plays twice also. I use SMS popup as well, but i have been using that for at least 3 months with no problems.

Jul 8, 2010I have come across a compelling problem with my Orange bill since getting my Desire. I set up a group in contacts and a number of times have attempted to send a group text. There are about 8 people in that group but when I pressed send I would get message pending.
Some members of the group would not receive anything whilst others would get a text hours later.
I tried a couple of more times last month then gave up.
This week my bill came with a 10 charge for photo messages, as if I would use this crap way of sending pics when I have access to email. All the group messages were charged at 25p per person.
To give Orange their due, they will reimburse me the money on goodwill but I certainly won't be trying the group thing again.
