Saved my contacts before a reset (don't ask) Anyway when I imported them back into the phone it added dashes to the numbers: From: 07999333666 to 079-993-33666 Ok so whats the problem? I hear you saying, well in the UK nation code are usually 4 digits (sometimes 5). This makes reading the numbers really ANNOYING. Any know how to get rid of them - without having to go through every number?

I've had my (generic) Desire for a few weeks now, and have a really nagging/annoying problem in that, where i've added contacts (on the phone memory) and then synced with facebook, it's pulling in their mobile phone number from facebook, but is defaulting to 447584... and will not let me call the contact without first editing the number to read 07584...
The only way around this so far as i can tell, is to manually add the number again as a 'Home' number but with a 0 in place of 44, as re-adding as a mobile just defaults back to the 447584... and then assigning the 'Home' number as the primary contact number. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or something i've done myself, and also whether there is a way i can update my whole phonebook to change the 44's for 0's rather than manually going through and changing them?
I bought my Desire yesterday. What can I say, just awesome! My previous mobile was SE W910i. I'd like to know how to import all the contacts to my Desire. Maybe it was discussed before, but I didn't find any threads about it.

I have synced my phone with facebook and now want to transfer the email addresses and birthdays of my facebook friends to google contacts. I understand from reading posts on other forums that there are a few ways to do this, such as manually importing and exporting csv files (Sync/merge Facebook contacts with Gmail contacts - Gmail Help) or by way of a script (Import your Facebook Phonebook into your Google Contacts using Greasemonkey on Firefox), but this will require a manual update whenever I have a new facebook contact. Seeing that my phone could auto-sync with both FB and Google, is there a way to automatically transfer new FB contacts to google whenever I hit the "Sync" button on my phone?

Dont know why it didnt work when it said it was syncing before. maybe it didnt like the number of contacts involved and only wanted to do it on its own 3 hours after i asked. I am unable to get all my gmail contacts onto my desire. I have a gmail account setup on the phone, syncing is set to automatic and the gmail account has all options ticked for syncing. Even after i run a manual sync it does not retrieve all my gmail contacts (people is completely empty, and 'view' is set to only show gmail contacts)I know its possible because i had them on there before. I removed them from the phone as there were lots of duplicates after merging with my phones contacts. These duplicates all got sent up to gmail and so i removed everything from the phone in order to tidy it all up on gmail with the intention of then re-importing them from gmail. But it will not get anythying from gmail now.

From reading around, it appears that there isn't a way to stop this unless you change your contacts not to sync with any of the Gmail groups. But if I do that, then none of my contacts sync with Gmail. Is there a way to stop Gmail from adding contacts when replying to emails?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAnytime I add a contact detail via the handset if I let it sync, either via Google or SE, the contact will be wiped which is pretty useless (basically I cannot add new contacts on the handset, preposterous!). I contacted SE help, they recommended I use the software update program to update the handset software. I have done this but the update software tells me the handset is running the latest software, the problem persists.

After that, I add phone numbers in the same way. It works as I am able to view the new added contact with following code :

My problem is that, after adding and viewing the new contact, I can't see it in Contacts application unless I synchronized all my contacts (I also did a search with the contact's name, found it, nevertheless it wasn't added in contacts list).
How can I programmatically update the contacts in order to immediately have my new contact added in Contacts application?
I tried to use the "links" feature within Contacts. Now, some are missing completely. Others have wrong details. Others have details borrowed from something in a "linked" detail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the X10 this week and its all up to date with software however I am having major issues with phonebook. Whenever I try and add contacts to my favorites in phonebook they only stay there for a few seconds before they vanish. When viewing call log if I try and save a number by adding a contact again this will do it for only a few seconds and then just delete the contact.
Facebook links on the contacts aren't coming through and painfully slow to link all the address book up. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I have downloaded a different version of phonebook but I didn't think it looked as good as the default and want to make the normal one work.
I recently switched gmail accounts. I was able to reconfigure the stock mail app fine. The gmail app took some persuasion but eventually cooperated. The only problem is now all my contacts that were saved in my old gmail acct need to be transferred to my new one. Not a big deal (only have 10 because I lost my phone, reason why I have an Eris). However, my brother called. Since I lost him from my contacts, I used the recent calls window to add him. Hit Save. If I go to People, he isnt there. Retried it 3 times. I figure I can just re add him through gmail on my PC and sync it, but that's inconvenient and I wanna know: why isn't this working?

In this phone it is reading as zero. In any other phone 100+.The only work around that I can think of is to upgrade my Outlook client, export to a CSV file, import into Google mail, sync across and then import into the People folder.

All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Later I found out myfaves is sending these costly messages, I wanted to turn off myfaves and I followed the following steps: 1. I downgraded my phone from RC33 to RC29 and rooted the phone 2. As I read that all RC3X versions have myfaves, installed JFv1.43_Holiday.zip using the standard procedure (update.zip on SD card, Home+Power, ALT+L, ALT+S, etc) 3. Now I see that myfaves is turned off (no new messages sent), but when I try to import contacts from Vodafone SIM card, the phone crashes with message " The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my hero about a week ago and since then I'm still trying to import my contacts from outlook, but no picture imported although in outlook they appear with picture. All my contacts with picture in outlook were backed up from my old iphone. I tried to synchronize my hero with those contacts, but no picture. After that i tried to export contacts from outlook in a *.vcf file, uploaded them into google contacts, but still no picture. Also another problem: i deleted all my contacts in google and then synchronized my phone with it, but instead of downloading them from the hero, it appears that google overwrites the phone contacts. Is there any way to overwrite google contacts with the phone ones? Or at least merge them?

I'm trying to get my google contacts not only to show up in my phone's google address book but my phone's address book, so I can use VZW backup asst, which only backs up from your phone's address book. I can't find import/export addresses. The VZW guy told me to send contacts to sd and import them... can't find any way to do that on the X.
