Android :: Droid Eris - Unable To Make Or Receive Calls After 2.1 Update / Phone Freezes
Jun 19, 2010I updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.

Mar 18, 2010I looked around and really cont find an answer to this... I love 2.1 but now my phone barely works to make calls. I can make a call, but then if I try to make another, the phone will just go black. The other person says they can hear me, but I hear nothing. Is there a fix other than shutting off the phone after every call?

Dec 16, 2009Google Voice runs flawlessly on my Droid. I recently purchased a Droid Eris for my wife, and while Google Voice SMS and inbound calling works fine, outbound calling does not. I notice that Google's "bridging number" used to connect me with the recipient on the Eris is different than the one used by my Droid. When dialing on my Droid, the call is routed through (518) 314-9466, while the problematic Eris is using (609) 987-0466. My wife's GV number is a (908) number which is probably why she is being routed through a (609) bridging number, both being South Jersey Area codes.
Does anyone think this is the problem? If so, is there a way to adjust which bridging number through which outbound calls are connnected. Has anyone else suffered this issue? We are really concerned as Google Voice integration was the primary reason for purchasing this phone. I thought to add that (i) I am using version 0.2.8 in all instances, (ii) the Eris has been updated with the recent OTA update from Verizon (though I didn't have a chance to use Google Voice beforehand to to determine if this is a post-update issue or not) and (iii) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from the market multiple times in hopes of rectifying this issue.
HTC Droid Eris : Way To Make Calls From Within Calendar?
Nov 26, 2009First off I want to say that I really like my new Eris but.... Coming from a BB there seems to be a problem that could make or break the deal. I frequently enter phone numbers as a note in outlook calendar (temporary contact thing), with the BB I could pull up the calendar and make a call from the number within, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the Eris, I've tried everything, does anybody have any suggestions.

Jul 30, 2010I have had my Eris since Jan. I am on my 3rd replacement and 2nd in 3 weeks. My first one VZW just kept making excuses and wanting to do factory resets and delete apps because in their words that was the problem. The tech guy on the phone told me that they could only replace it with another eris again so here I sit with another POS that continues to lock up. I have been unable to make calls 80% of the time. What a joke On average I have to remove my battery 3-4 times a day to get it to work.

Apr 30, 2010I am having horrible signal problems. My old phone the ENV2 in the same exact seat I am in right now I had full signal strength. The Eris on the other hand, I have none, it flips from no bars to X all day long. I can not receive calls nor can I make a call. Has anyone had problems with theirs? Or what might I be able to do ?

I can make a call, If I try to make a call after, the phone will lag on dialing then if it does connect I can't hear. If I receive a call it will answer but no sound. This happened after 2.1. Aug 18, 2010So, first, here's what happened. Did a factory reset of my phone. When it came back up and I went to activate it, no data connection, unable to make phone calls. After 2 hours on the phone with VZW tech support, I can make calls, but have no data connection. They are sending me a "new" one. The concensus of the VZW tech and myself, problem with my phone. 2 days later, my wife resets her phone because of memory usage issues (she had to much on it). Same exact thing happened to her. Being the fiesty woman that she is she is going to a VZW store today to raise holy hell and throughorly degrade the poor rep that she is going to talk to, to get some answers. My question to all my fine fellow Eris users, have you seen this before? If in our position, do we deserve a new phone, and not an eris? Will this happen with a replacement eris due to a fault in the 2.1 update?

I like that it vibrates when I receive texts just not while I'm on the phone. How do I change this 'Phone Only' preference? 1.5 always just had a little beep or sound for the notifier never vibrated?

Oct 19, 2010I rooted and installed kaosfroyo and now cannot make or receive calls because my mic is not working. Call can be made but the person on the other end does not hear me.
A few other things are that my wifi and verizon data are not working. When I plug the usb I can't mount the SD card.
On the lock screen it says Sprint in the upper right.

Jul 3, 2010Not sure if this is technically the "silent bug" but calls do not even show up on the phone, they just appear as "missed call from...." no noise no other notification. I restarted phone but it did it again right away. Phone does show the 50% bug in battery info.

I know that if I turn my phone on it will connect to the network and start downloading email, texts, etc. Before I leave for canada I want to set up my phone so that when I turn it on up there, it won't try to get my e-mails. I also want to find away to stay in contact with my wife through the wifi. I do have google voice, so is there a way to use that to talk to her? The hotel does have wifi so I need to be able to turn off 1x, 3g, 2g, or whatever the phone uses to connect to the network but leave the wifi on. I would love some suggestions on how to keep in touch with my wife without getting charged for it. When I am in the hotel I will be using skype to talk to her through my laptop, but I wont be in the hotel during the day.

Jul 30, 2010My first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?
