i can only call out from recent contacts list? it will not let me make calls from numbers in my phonebook. it's really frustrating. it will act like it's going to call out then you'll see a red x through the radio bars. but i have full service +3g in my location and i can make calls perfectly fine to recent call list.

I know that if I turn my phone on it will connect to the network and start downloading email, texts, etc. Before I leave for canada I want to set up my phone so that when I turn it on up there, it won't try to get my e-mails. I also want to find away to stay in contact with my wife through the wifi. I do have google voice, so is there a way to use that to talk to her? The hotel does have wifi so I need to be able to turn off 1x, 3g, 2g, or whatever the phone uses to connect to the network but leave the wifi on. I would love some suggestions on how to keep in touch with my wife without getting charged for it. When I am in the hotel I will be using skype to talk to her through my laptop, but I wont be in the hotel during the day.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem for last couple of weeks - When I got the phone (around 2 months ago), I created all my main contacts, added their names, numbers and email addresses. So, at least a month goes by, but then one or two contacts start losing their phone numbers (the name and email address remains). I have tried everything from simply entering and saving the number again via the phone book and even adding the number from text messages sent by the person in question - each time I have ensured that I have clicked 'done' and/or the save symbol. I exit the phone book, but if I check back later it's been lost again. This seems to happen with only one or two particular contacts - I am not sure what is unique about them. Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I have read the manual re: phone book, so I am following all of the steps so I am not sure whether or not the phone has a fault.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?

My mom called me like 25 times asking me to look up something, when I FINALLY got the call on the house phone I was able to look it up in maps but unable to call her back at all (was using wifi). My EVDO data services work fine but theres not voice AT ALL. I tried calling my number from like 5 phones nothing, I also reset it turned off the cellular radio and turned it back on nothing. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I installed Smoked Glass last v6. night and everything was fine. This morning everything was also fine, sent and received 20-30 texts and no issue. About 5 minutes ago I was trying to send a text and I kept getting a message not sent. So then I tried to make a phone call and I could not make a phone call ether. I can still access the internet though. I have 2-3 bars at all times.
Can this be related to me installing the ROM (nothing went wrong with instillation) I wiped all data, installed rom and then backed up with titanum. I have rebooted my phone a couple of times and nothing changed. I also just tried to make a call and it completely rebooted the phone.
My Eris has always had issues with knowing who is who in my recent calls, texts and in google voice from time to time. I reformatted all the contacts to +1-555-555-5555 format(something that someone on a google forum suggested) but it still doesn't fix the problem. For instance- A friend named Steve called me. I see incoming call from and it knows who steve is and says "Incoming call from Steve". I called him back, clicking on the exact icon in my missed calls that says his name and it says I called 5551231234 (unknown). This happens in my messages as well, and it is starting to drive me crazy. I will get a message from 5551231234 and it will only list the number and not the name, so I have no idea who is texting me. For some reason my phone is incapable of putting it together to figure out that the number it lists as unknown is already a contact in my contacts. I have to always call people back to figure out who it is or send a text asking who they are.

I recently purchased a Droid Eris for my wife, and while Google Voice SMS and inbound calling works fine, outbound calling does not. I notice that Google's "bridging number" used to connect me with the recipient on the Eris is different than the one used by my Droid. When dialing on my Droid, the call is routed through (518) 314-9466, while the problematic Eris is using (609) 987-0466. My wife's GV number is a (908) number which is probably why she is being routed through a (609) bridging number, both being South Jersey Area codes.
Does anyone think this is the problem? If so, is there a way to adjust which bridging number through which outbound calls are connnected. Has anyone else suffered this issue? We are really concerned as Google Voice integration was the primary reason for purchasing this phone. I thought to add that (i) I am using version 0.2.8 in all instances, (ii) the Eris has been updated with the recent OTA update from Verizon (though I didn't have a chance to use Google Voice beforehand to to determine if this is a post-update issue or not) and (iii) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from the market multiple times in hopes of rectifying this issue.
I used *228 and pressed 1 and did it again and pressed 2 neither worked and still cant make calls.

I frequently enter phone numbers as a note in outlook calendar (temporary contact thing), with the BB I could pull up the calendar and make a call from the number within, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the Eris, I've tried everything, does anybody have any suggestions.

Every phone I've had in the past (Nokia, Sony, etc...) has always allowed me to hide my number so that the call display on the receiver's phone shows my call as 'private'. This is useful for when you don't want certain people to have your number when you call. Is there a way to do this on the Galaxy S? I couldn't seem to find any setting how.
