Ok, I finally got my invite, created the account, I chose to create a number for the free SMS. Now...im completely lost, how do I make free calls? Free SMS. It would be great if someone could give me a rundown on what the hells going on...sorry im not.."web savvy".

I am going to be spending a little time in Canada for work. I know that if I turn my phone on it will connect to the network and start downloading email, texts, etc. Before I leave for canada I want to set up my phone so that when I turn it on up there, it won't try to get my e-mails. I also want to find away to stay in contact with my wife through the wifi. I do have google voice, so is there a way to use that to talk to her? The hotel does have wifi so I need to be able to turn off 1x, 3g, 2g, or whatever the phone uses to connect to the network but leave the wifi on. I would love some suggestions on how to keep in touch with my wife without getting charged for it. When I am in the hotel I will be using skype to talk to her through my laptop, but I wont be in the hotel during the day.

(in the market)It lets you call from your contact list and then calls through your GV number making the call totally free. If you have your GV number in your free 10 numbers.It shows the person your calling your GV number. And so if you wanted you can free calls in and out.Oh and for the ones that seen the GV Dialer please see my disclaimer.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi can only call out from recent contacts list? it will not let me make calls from numbers in my phonebook. it's really frustrating. it will act like it's going to call out then you'll see a red x through the radio bars. but i have full service +3g in my location and i can make calls perfectly fine to recent call list.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?

When i try to call a number it doesnt even ring or anything. when someone tries to call me the phone doesnt ring either. What did i do wrong?. Everything else is working fine. My mom called me like 25 times asking me to look up something, when I FINALLY got the call on the house phone I was able to look it up in maps but unable to call her back at all (was using wifi). My EVDO data services work fine but theres not voice AT ALL. I tried calling my number from like 5 phones nothing, I also reset it turned off the cellular radio and turned it back on nothing. Now for some reason the only time I can receive calls and make calls is when I have it set to 1xRTT only....Idk wtf going on but the one time I needed to use the PHONE on my handset it decided to not work....I had like 3 people try and call me and nothing not very convent.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I installed Smoked Glass last v6. night and everything was fine. This morning everything was also fine, sent and received 20-30 texts and no issue. About 5 minutes ago I was trying to send a text and I kept getting a message not sent. So then I tried to make a phone call and I could not make a phone call ether. I can still access the internet though. I have 2-3 bars at all times.
Can this be related to me installing the ROM (nothing went wrong with instillation) I wiped all data, installed rom and then backed up with titanum. I have rebooted my phone a couple of times and nothing changed. I also just tried to make a call and it completely rebooted the phone.
I am going crazy here... I've had this thing since it launched and everything is great except I keep hitting buttons with my face during calls! I mute, sometimes end calls, start 3 way calls etc and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is there any way I can make the screen lock during phone calls or change the call screen altogether?

I can make a call, but then if I try to make another, the phone will just go black. The other person says they can hear me, but I hear nothing. Is there a fix other than shutting off the phone after every call?

I recently purchased a Droid Eris for my wife, and while Google Voice SMS and inbound calling works fine, outbound calling does not. I notice that Google's "bridging number" used to connect me with the recipient on the Eris is different than the one used by my Droid. When dialing on my Droid, the call is routed through (518) 314-9466, while the problematic Eris is using (609) 987-0466. My wife's GV number is a (908) number which is probably why she is being routed through a (609) bridging number, both being South Jersey Area codes.
Does anyone think this is the problem? If so, is there a way to adjust which bridging number through which outbound calls are connnected. Has anyone else suffered this issue? We are really concerned as Google Voice integration was the primary reason for purchasing this phone. I thought to add that (i) I am using version 0.2.8 in all instances, (ii) the Eris has been updated with the recent OTA update from Verizon (though I didn't have a chance to use Google Voice beforehand to to determine if this is a post-update issue or not) and (iii) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from the market multiple times in hopes of rectifying this issue.
I used *228 and pressed 1 and did it again and pressed 2 neither worked and still cant make calls.
View 10 Replies View RelatedFirst off I want to say that I really like my new Eris but.... Coming from a BB there seems to be a problem that could make or break the deal. I frequently enter phone numbers as a note in outlook calendar (temporary contact thing), with the BB I could pull up the calendar and make a call from the number within, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the Eris, I've tried everything, does anybody have any suggestions.

Every phone I've had in the past (Nokia, Sony, etc...) has always allowed me to hide my number so that the call display on the receiver's phone shows my call as 'private'. This is useful for when you don't want certain people to have your number when you call. Is there a way to do this on the Galaxy S? I couldn't seem to find any setting how.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my Eris since Jan. I am on my 3rd replacement and 2nd in 3 weeks. My first one VZW just kept making excuses and wanting to do factory resets and delete apps because in their words that was the problem. The tech guy on the phone told me that they could only replace it with another eris again so here I sit with another POS that continues to lock up. I have been unable to make calls 80% of the time. What a joke On average I have to remove my battery 3-4 times a day to get it to work.

(im dialing a US number)... is there something else I can use.. I dont use google voice because i have an account with skype and most friends of mine do to... are they any work arounds for this?

The Eris on the other hand, I have none, it flips from no bars to X all day long. I can not receive calls nor can I make a call. Has anyone had problems with theirs? Or what might I be able to do ?
