Everytime I plug my Desire into either of my PCs, I get a warning from Norton 360 saying that it (the Desire) is infected with a virus called VBS.Runauto. Having checked the details of this supposed virus, it appears to be in the Google folder. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to "ignore" it or safely remove it without causing problems?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy desire was a UK Orange branded one. I've rooted it and installed custom firmware so I no longer get the Orange start up logo or their uninstallable bloatware apps.
The only thing left is the Orange logo printed on the rear battery cover. Does anyone have anyway to remove the logo without causing too much damage?
It would be nice to have a completely de-branded phone.
I have both Superuser, and SuperSU installed, apparently. I never like having two of the same task on things that touch root.. How do I correctly uninstall one of those without having an issue?

another question, though not related to rooting ..i use EDGE GPRS and through dial up i can connect to internet using phone as modem in debugging mode. i see that there are some new app like wireless tether ..
can i make windows to connect without USB ?
Really odd one this. It closes if I type a capital A. Nothing else. All other letters are fine.

I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
Running a non-rooted 2.2 Desire
So once your phone is mounted as a USB drive(mass storage), how do you exit ?
1. Do you reallly need to ?
2. If you do, how are you doing it ? While i would like to use the extended controls widget, when i do try to turn the USB button off, it says "Mass storage deactivated", and promptly after that " Enabling Mass storage".
I had to clear my contact data the other day from settings/applications/manage applications/contacts storage to cure a google mail account sync problem. It worked and the phone now syncs fine. But, I now have duplicates of all facebook events in all my calendars. Can I safely delete the data in settings/applications/manage applications/Facebook for HTC Sense? do you think if I did that that it would sort the problem? Would this cause issues with my contacts, as some are linked to Facebook friends, or would this sort its self out when it re-synced?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI listen to music whilst commuting on a bike and whilst out riding a MTB, I have a pair of HTC headphones with in-line controls to make switching tracks easy but am infuriated by the music apps available.
I also have the Audiobooks app installed and despite many attempts I am unable to get any music app to ignore the file containing audiobook chapters.
As a result varied pieces of audiobooks get mixed up with the music tracks, I have tried using Median, Double Twist, 3Cubed and the standard player, non allow me to just select single folders containing MP3 files and they don't all recognise the in-line phones.
Are all music apps so amateurish or is there a really good one out there which I have not yet found.
Phone is a HTC Desire.

In the calendars menu i have 3 calendars on my desire, my calendar, pc sync calendar and a calendar i set up called annie calendar. i know i can deselect the calendars i don't want to use but how can i remove the calendars from the phone completely?

I get the following message, This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. You do that in settings, under privacy. Is there anyway to do it without resetting the phone? I dont want to reset it as i the phone is rooted, has custom ROM with over 100 apps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought SetCPU last night, and ever since installing it, I've had issues with sending and recieving txt messages, for example, I'll have 3-4 bars of 3G and the txt will either not send out, or if someone sends me a txt, I'll get about 3 all at once from them. Maybe its just how I have setcpu setup, I let the app decide best speed for my phone 900max 250 min, and I set it on interactive at first, then changed it to performance to see if that made a difference with txts.

I am trying to figure out if one it is possible for an SD card to cause my phone to become unstable (like spontenously rebooting, heating up, etc), i think the answer is yes as I have tried using the phone for a few days with and without the card and it does indeed seem more stable without the card but its less clear about if its the card or whats on the card. I tried formatting the card and thought at first that it was more stable but then it seemed to start acting up again (I can't sit and watch it all day and sometimes its not obvious that it has restarted, sometimes it just shuts down). I have also tried different versions of RR, tinkered with neartrom (not long enough to be sure though) but still stability issues.
Is there a way to see If my card is someway corrupted? or If the phone is just not liking this card or any cards? A friend let me use their card for awhile and my phone was still acting up (rebooting, freezing, overheating). I prefer to to figure out exactly what the problem is before I fork out the money for a new card; it seems illogical that a sdcard in general should make a phone act up like this but I am running out of ideas (going out and getting a new phone would be even more painful than getting a new sdcard so I am really hoping to figure this out as it seems to run ok when no card is inserted).
btw, I the card is a sandisk ultra 64gb microsdxc card, its worked for like 2 years (I stored music and backups on it mainly, most the r/w stuff was from daily podcasts).
