View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I plug my Desire into either of my PCs, I get a warning from Norton 360 saying that it (the Desire) is infected with a virus called VBS.Runauto. Having checked the details of this supposed virus, it appears to be in the Google folder. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to "ignore" it or safely remove it without causing problems?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that we can safely write to /data/data/app_package... however, can the application also create folders and maybe access other folders as well, such as system? I could easily create an application to test that, but what i really want to know if the official Android approach to this issue. I don't want to assume something that will be changed in the future.

Now, if I mount the Droid via USB and view the file structure there is a folder named /albumthumbs which contains 50 files, presumably for the 50 pictures a had on the SD card.
To me, these file, unless linking to actual photos stored on the SD card, take up extra space in the phone's memory (not worried about the SD card). I wonder if I can safely delete them (just the files...not the folder)?
I have a newly rooted Casio G'zone Commando, build M100, running 2.3.3.I wanted to prevent the volume button from waking up the phone. (turning the screen on)
I did some research and found that the .kl or key layout files in /system/usr/keylayout control this behavior. As an experiment I focused on disabling the WAKE property on just the VOLUME_UP key in every file where it appeared in that directory. I removed the .BAK files, rebooted, but VOLUME_UP still wakes the phone.
Owners of other phones report successes changing all sorts of buttons this way. Is the Commando overriding this somewhere else?
I have an Android Eclipse project and an associated Android Test Eclipse project checked into a subversion repository. Given a checked out working copy, how do I bring the Android Test project into an Eclipse workspace? It's easy to add the Android project to the workspace (just File->New Project->Android Project->From Existing Source and point it at the directory in the svn working copy). But, the 'New Android Test Project' does not have an option to create from existing source.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the Samsung Vibrant phone. I am a little intimidated by it but trying to learn things, but have two questions I need to find answers for quickly - for business reasons.
I found out how to put a file on my computer, but not how to name it...i.e. clients...that type of thing....
AND the guy that talked me into this said that I would be able to access my home computer with this phone so if I needed to send a file while away from the house, I could do that. BUT I cant seem to find that.
AND LASTLY...there seem to be a lot of aps on the phone already that I done want or wont use, but the TMobile guy (who uses a blackberry) could not seem to figure out how to get rid of them.
ALSO...for anyone looking for some cool covers for the phone...decalgirl.com has some great skins for the phone AND the Realook screne protector is wonderful...changes nothing and cant tell it is there, but do follow the directions as to the water to take all dust out of the air.
Is there an app that I can use to browse files and folders from a windows PC and copy them over to the phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI love the way the new G+ app presents information on cards, and especially the scrolling (the way it slides the cards up and the ones below it quickly flip up and follow it, etc).
Now lets say I wanted to make a separate app that presents information in the same way; for sake of an example: Lets say I wanted to present facebook posts in the same visual card style that is used in G+ app. Is the source code for the G+ app available/obtainable, and can it be changed around to perform such a task?
My issue revolves around trying to use apps like the default files app preinstalled on the Droid X, Astro File Manger, or Estrong File Explorer. For some reason when I move files from folder to folder or copy and paste files into different folders the actual files appear to be there but when I go into the actual applications where the files should be they aren't there.
Example: I had put a few self made ringtones and notifications onto my SD Card via the USB cable that came with the droid from my computer to my Droid X. I made a seperate Media folder on the Card and put sub folders in that like I was supposed to. All the correct files appeared where they should once I disconnected and looked on my phone. New ringtones were in the ringtone directory through accessing them through settings, notifications where there, etc. Now when I try moving one of my ringtones into my notifications folder via, Astro file manager or Estrong File Explorer or the files app that came with the Droid X is moves the files into the folder and you can see it moved by actually viewing it in the folder you just moved it to. But when I go into my settings, notifications tones and look for the file I just moved there...it's not there for me to select, but it is when I look at my file manager. I've tried this in the music folder, ringtone folder and notifications folder and they don't appear in the actual applications where I moved them to, but they appear in the file manager as being there. Am I doing something wrong. I don't understand why this is happening.
I know how to create flashable zip so I can push any files into /system folder, but in case I want to push files in different locations?
My problem is: I would like to create flashable zip which will allow me to do following tasks:
Code:
replace certain files in /data/.customfolder
add certain files to /data/.customfolder
replace certain files in /res/customfolder
I downloaded a picture from the web onto my X. I used dropbox. The problem I'm having is I can see the picture when I go to phone files. I copy and paste from dropbox to my picture folder. The picture doesn't show up in the gallery. So just to be sure I copied the picture to a folder called background, its still not there in the gallery. Weird thing is when I go back to the phone files, and look for it. Its there in the gallery folder AND the background folder, but STILL not in the gallery! not sure whats going on there? I just want to make a picture a background thats all. It would be nice to just go into the phone files LONG press a picture and have the "Set As" option. This option only seems to be available in the gallery.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid-X and am having a peculiar problem. When I connect the phone to my PC with the USB, I try to browse the files on the "DROIDXRemovable Storage" directory, but only some of the files and folders are showing up. If I download and save a file on the device, it doesn't show up at all in explorer. I've even tried copying a file to the device from windows, and as soon as I disconnect and reconnect, the file is gone in Explorer even though it shows up fine on the device's file manager. Does anybody know why these files and folders are missing when I browse in Windows Explorer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased an unlocked and unbranded Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from Amazon.
After playing around with it for some time, installing all sorts and getting to know how to use it I decided I would perform a factory reset to "clean" it before continuing to use it "properly".
Before performing the factory reset I navigated to "My Files", selected delete, then selected every single folder and file and deleted them.
I then performed the factory reset.
Now I am missing 4 images which were available as wallpaper in "gallery" and probably several other files/folders.
I thought the factory reset would return the phone to its original state and reproduce any folders/files I may have deleted in the process. I thought they might be stored in a hidden "partition" or similar which I had no access to.
Anyway my questions are how can I restore my phone to its original state and which other files/folders would have been present initially but have now been deleted by me?
Just wondered, it seems that sometimes when you download an app to try and then you remove it, does this completely remove all the files from the internal memory?, im sure i have done this before and it seems i loose a small piece of memory after uninstalling Just wondered if there was a certain uninstaller that completley removes all files & folders?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to start getting my music and pictures etc., on my Wildfire. I've got an 8gb micro-SD card. Question is how does the phone read the card? Do I have to set up folders on the card such as Music, Photos, Videos etc., or do I just pile all my files on the card and the phone then sorts out what's what?

Well i accidently deleted all the contents of my 4gig micro sd card that came with my htc desire mobile.
all pre-installed folders that were on there are all gone.
Do we have any application or any easy way to automatically delete files/folders created by an application after uninstalling it? I am looking for a solution like Revo Uninstaller for mac and windows.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're seeking advice for our application in the Android Market, in relation to nominating a suitable minimum SDK version for the APK files published through the market. We understand that at this juncture there's no facility to provide associate multiple APK files (supporting different minimum SDK versions) within a single listing in the Market.
We have updated our existing application with new Android 1.6 API features and are keen to release it to the Market. However we're concerned about the general availability (and uptake) of version 1.6 firmware and seeking to ensure that we don't inadvertently release an updated APK should there be limited release of this firmware.
Can anyone provide an indication as to how widely the 1.6 firmware has been released? To that end, what are generally acceptable practices for supporting multiple SDK versions from within the market?
Is there an actual way to take a photo of complicated maths equations or something like that and get those converted to text automatically? Combined with wolframalpha.com that would be sweet.
