Hi everyone new to this forum and new to android, have to say loving my new Samsung Galaxy S, I have rooted and lag fixed, the increase in speed is massive.
Two questions I have that I cant find anywhere,
1.What is the best way to back up my phone?
2.Is there an app to let you surf safely, ie encrypting your data

rooted to drakaz's galaxo 1.6.3.4 , i noticed that everything is working as it should. but there is no safely remove icon in win 7 32 bit, in USB debugging mode, which earlier used to be in cupcake
another question, though not related to rooting ..i use EDGE GPRS and through dial up i can connect to internet using phone as modem in debugging mode. i see that there are some new app like wireless tether ..
can i make windows to connect without USB ?
Encrypted their Android smartphone? I kind of want to do it just for kicks and giggles but I was reading online that encrypting can reduce phone performance. , does it reduce performance by a noticeable amount? Also, I never read anything about this but it was just a thought, would the constant decrypting also decrease battery life?

When my app loads for the first time, the xml data file is read and local database is created and populated. This xml file is a crucial part of my app and it holds at least 100k entries. I don't want this data to be compromised.
Is there a way to encrypt this data file so that the file is unreadable in case someone opens the .apk file and extracts the data file.
so i was installing the thirdwave rom and while i was restoring my backups (MyBackup) i may have restored some sort of system files, however even after doing a nandroid restore, i still can't make calls, but i have a data connection.

At times when I am browsing through my apps in the applications window, the phone suddenly goes back to the home screen after about 10-15 secs of inactivity. It vibrates a little bit as if the back button is being pressed. I am 100% sure I am not pressing the back button.
Other times, when I start up an app (gmail, facebook, internet, music player, etc) it goes back after about 10 secs of inactivity. It seems to always want to go back to the home screen and it will keep going back till it arrives at the home screen.
I just got my phone two days ago and haven't done anything much on the phone yet.
I have a phone rooted and upgraded to 2.2. It was like that when I bought. Some programs are uninstalled in my phone. But I want them back. And there are some new programs that I don't need.
So what can I do? And how can I do that? Does a factory reset reinstall the uninstalled stock applications?
Very happy with the i9000 in the last few days of ownership, using launcher pro in place of stock but otherwise mostly unchanged. One issue we have is that after being at home overnight on WiFi, the phone doesn't automatically re enable 3g. To restore the mobile data you have to go into the network operator selection and re select Optus (our carrier here in Aus). Leaving it on auto doesn't help, and you have to manually choose it each time (ie: it "forgets" what I selected or something). Using apndroid to mangle the apn on/off doesn't help. Restarting the phone fixes it but obviously not ideal.
Have tried entering the code to change it to gsm only instead of the default wcdma/gsm auto with no benefit. When the mobile data is working, it happily switches between 2g and 3g, but will sometimes simply stop working as per the wifi overnight problem and I have to manually select the operator again. This happens very randomly and can go several days without drama, our only a few minutes. While this data won't connect, the phone capabilities aren't affected and you can make and receive calls fine. In fact if you dial a number it sometimes causes the data to re connect.
I want to flash my phone back to android 2.1. My phone is in download mode but odin is not picking it up?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to clear my contact data the other day from settings/applications/manage applications/contacts storage to cure a google mail account sync problem. It worked and the phone now syncs fine. But, I now have duplicates of all facebook events in all my calendars. Can I safely delete the data in settings/applications/manage applications/Facebook for HTC Sense? do you think if I did that that it would sort the problem? Would this cause issues with my contacts, as some are linked to Facebook friends, or would this sort its self out when it re-synced?

I use LauncherPro exclusively and according to this site, TouchWiz30Launcher.apk/odex can be removed safely, but he also mentions not to move Launcher.apk, which I don't see in my system folder. When I move it, the phone is operational, but keep getting a force close error for TouchWiz30Launcher.apk/odex. By moving it back with Root Explorer, it corrects the error immediately.I guess what I am asking is...is it possible to disable the 17MB file of TouchWiz if I am not using it, and if so, how.

Maybe get my phone back to factory state if I want to? No, I didn't make a backup file. I now, stupid of me.
