I have a HTC Desire which is now UNLOCKED as the unlocking code was supplied to me from T-Mobile (upon request). Anyone have any idea how to REMOVE the T-Mobile "splash screen" (branding) when the HTC is booted up?

General :: Jelly Bean - How To Remove Or Change Splash Logo Of Cherry Mobile Flare S100

Aug 15, 2013

I'm really bugged by the Cherry Mobile Flare logo. It's like this: when our devices (S100, otherwise known as the Karbonn A9+ in India) are still in Android ICS(4.0.4), it's really a breeze to change the boot(splash) logo using the AIO flasher. Anyways, since we updated our devices to JB 4.1.2, I have tried and failed (countless times) in changing the boot logo using AIO (partition table does not exist). The boot logo also appears during off-charging (before the animated battery). So I searched the web and found the link below(which looks promising) and tried but I get the "can't open dev/block/mmcblock0p18" error. It's NOT the boot animation, it's THE boot logo guys.

This is the link [URL]...

HTC Desire :: Lost - Stolen Desire - Protect Data - Send Sms To Preallocated Number If Phone Is Booted Up With Different Sim

Jul 18, 2010

My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.

Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

General :: After Rebooting Phone Will No Longer Go Past The AT&T Splash Screen?

Feb 19, 2013

I'm quite worried I soft bricked my phone. I am new to a rooted android device. I am more used to an unlocked windows mobile. Here is what I did...

I rooted my handset using blackwofls guide, it worked perfectly. I then installed adfree android from the market, it also worked perfectly. After that, I went and got font installer, it installed like any other app, opened fine. I chose a font I wanted to use, previewed it, and installed it.

It had prompted me to reboot for the font to take effect. After rebooting my phone will no longer go past the AT&T splash screen. I am very worried since I do not know how to fix it, I don't have a backup of my ICS of any sort. I can however get into ODIN and the recovery mode of clockwork.

I reset my cache and data numerous times, and i did a factory reset, It just sits at the splash screen and vibrates often.

HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen

Oct 29, 2010

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.

The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".

Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

HTC Incredible :: Phone Booted Up / Plugged In Via USB?

Jun 11, 2010

I was able to root my phone with this method when everything else failed. Try this if you have had trouble with other methods. I did not discover this, I heard it from someone on IRC (forgot who).
1. With your phone booted up and plugged in via USB, type adb reboot recovery.
2. Start your adb shell loop (using the while loop or bat file).
3. Click in and out your SD card repeatedly while the phone is booting into recovery (apparently every 0.5 sec will do).
4. Watch for "- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -" to appear in your terminal
5. Follow the rest of the instructions at public:adb_in_recovery [RootWiki]

General :: Why Won't Phone Boot And Stay Booted

Mar 5, 2012

I have a six month old Epic 4G, rooted, CWM recovery,. I used Root Uninstaller to remove three of the annoying preloaded apps that I never use. Otherwise, my phone is stock. I'm still on the 2nd to last Gingerbread update, as the one that arrived in late Jan won't apply to my rooted phone. I doubt my problem is specific to the device, though, which is why I'm posting here. I have a 32GB SD connected to the phone.

The problem: I have a very irritating "warm reboot:"

1) After booting, the phone is sometimes (not always) extremely laggy. When I use a system monitor to see what is taking the CPU, it appears to be "System" that is taking all the CPU. If the phone is not obviously laggy when starting up, this problem does not occur.
2) The flash card scans always say they complete. It never reboots before these complete.
3) Although the flash scans have completed, it takes quite a while for all of my app icons to load, suggesting it is still going through the SD card.
4) Within a few minutes after booting, the screen goes black and the four soft keys light up. If the screen is already off when this happens, the screen first turns on briefly, and then goes black!
5) About five to fifteen seconds later, the GUI restarts and it starts scanning the flash.

What else I notice:

* The "uptime" reported is not reset, which tells me there was no actual "reboot."

* Once I can get it to boot without doing this, it's stable for days.

* Using the phone right after it boots seems to increase the chance of this happening, but it's hard to say.

* In the past, if I disabled WiFi and 4G and then went into airplane mode, this would greatly reduce the chance of this happening, but now my phone has been constantly warm rebooting even in airplane mode. The phone appears to be getting less stable with time.

* This does not appear to be correlated with phone temperature. The phone can be cool to the touch or warm to the touch and this will happen.

* I've tried wiping all the various caches before. Makes no difference.

Questions:

1) Is this a known issue that is not present in a 3rd party ROM?

2) Does moving a lot of apps to SD cause this? With only 1/2 GB of built-in app memory, I have no choice but to move almost everything to the SD.

3) Does having a LOT of files on the SD card cause this? I have many nandroid backups on the SD.

4) Is there a real name for this "reboot" that I can Google for? When I search for "reboot loop" or "warm reboot" I get unrelated failures. I saw one thread where someone mentioned a "sense reboot" but that seems to be an HTC thing?

5) If I clear off the SD card, or somehow signal that most directories are not to be scanned, will this make a difference?

6) How can I figure out what is going on, why the phone is restarting the UI? Does Android have a boot-up problem of being at 100% CPU for a few minutes that automatically causes a UI reset? As I said, once the phone boots without doing this warm boot, it will be stable for days.

Android :: Way To Add A Splash Screen To An APK?

Aug 8, 2010

I am a bit new to android development, and am trying to implement a splash screen on top of an existing APK. The idea would be that the APK still runs exactly the same as before, but before it does, a splash screen displaying the developer's logo comes up for a few seconds. I know this is easy to do directly in the code for the original APK, but I am hoping to be able to accomplish it without editing that code. Can anyone point me in the right direction for doing that? I am not even sure if it is possible, but it seems like I just need to make a new APK file that runs just the splash screen and then calls the other application.

Android :: How To Make A Splash Screen?

Feb 8, 2010

I have a simple application, it starts, loads xml feed from the net, you can browse a list of news and then read details for a chosen news item. What I would like to do is have a splash screen, meaning as soon as you click application, it should display an image (app name in my case) and then display news list only after they've loaded. I read about similar (I think) problems, and usually people say to use FrameLayout, but I can't really sort it out. I'm not sure if this can be done in the first activity that is launched, maybe I should just display this splash image in one activity and only then call activity displaying my news list? I know that on iPhone you can set splash screen in app settings while developing, would be nice to have this functionality in android's app's manifest.

So I have 2 separate projects that each run individually but I can't figure out how to put them together. I think I am having trouble with the XML files.

Android :: Way To Get Splash Screen Displayed ASAP?

Aug 21, 2010

I have a splash screen/loading screen that has .setVisibility() to GONE right after the draw call of my large bitmap is completed. The problem is the splash screen takes a bit to popup which i believe is due to the main activity booting up and doing CPU intensive applications on first run. Is there a way to get my splash screen displayed ASAP? Would it be ok if i had it in a different thread maybe? The splash screen is just a bitmap with a progressBar right below it. My layout is xml based so i cant see myself using setContentView.

Motorola Droid :: WiFi Not Working / Need To Get Splash Screen

Oct 6, 2010

I can't even get to the splash screen to say I agree to the TOS in order to to agree to use it. I've tried everything. My droid says its a good signal and excellent connection... but I can't connect to it. I used my droid to surf the net a little at home before I left for work today, so I know it works, and a few people have come to the mcdonalds and used the wifi while I was here. So I know that works. Is there an app that can tell me what's going on or to test what the problem is?

LG Eve :: Stuck On Android Splash Screen - Completely Unresponsive

Jun 2, 2010

So I've searched the forum database and the internet at large and can't seem to find anyone with 'exactly' my problem. My Eve has been problematic since I got it 3 months ago. I perform at least 10 battery pulls a day to get it to 'wake up' because nothing else works. It started to get really cranky on Friday night but it continued working -- very slowly -- but I kept getting error msgs (don't ask me, can't remember!) The battery dies, so I plugged it in overnight. Since then it turns on, shows the Rogers screen, gets to the Android screen with the light scrolling across the letters, then hangs there. Twice I somehow managed to get it to a screen that said ARM11 has failed and gave me 2 options, volume down or volume up. I tried each of these once, same thing. Today it somehow got to! EMERGENCY MODE but was then completely unresponsive while showing this text.

I called Rogers and he suggested I do an update but that it would erase all my info. I was desperate and tried this, but to no avail. Did not do anything different to my phone. As I sit here typing, the Android screen is scrolling sideways, doing it's thing. Meanwhile I have no cell phone. Apparently Rogers doesn't replace it (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). They ship it on my behalf to LG who assesses and decides if they will replace or inform Rogers to inform me that it needs to be repaired, then LG charges me $30 for the assesment. Could take 2-3 weeks -- they will give me an old flip phone to use for that time. Meanwhile no discount on the monthly Data/Cell phone plan. It's kind of striking a nerve. I'm considering sending it back and buying a used iPhone 3G for $300 and if I get the Eve back, I'll sell it over the internet.
