HTC Desire :: Exchange Push Mail When Roaming

Jul 19, 2010

I am currently roaming outside my home network in the UK and cannot get Exchange Server to automatically synch. I have read countless posts on this forum and elsewhere trying to self-help before posting, but despite this one appearing to be the same issue, I have been unable to fix it.

In essence when opening Menu > Settings > Accounts & Synch > Manage Accounts / Exchange Active Sync > Account Settings I see that the option for "Sync when roaming" is not only unticked but also greyed out so I cannot enable it.

How can I fix this, please?

Note that Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Data roaming is ticked and so is ... > Enable always-on mobile data.

I am currently on an Edge network and manual Exchange Synch works just fine but having automatic sync is more important right now that worrying about the roaming charge.

HTC Droid Eris :: Exchange Push E-Mail

Nov 7, 2009

Is there a way to only set push e-mail for the Inbox folder? When I set up push e-mail for my Exchange server it wants to download the mail in all of my folders. That is over 2,000 messages.

HTC Desire :: Exchange Push Isn't Working

Apr 23, 2010

Got my Desire hooked up to Exchange without problems and it all works, with the exception of push emails. Basically new emails only arrive when the phone initiates a sync.

I have the relevant options enabled on the server and can't see anything related to push on the handset so I'm a bit lost as to why this doesn't work.

HTC Hero :: Push Email While Roaming

Nov 29, 2009

I have a TELUS HTC Hero and a few days ago I was visiting Seattle. While roaming on AT&T my Hero would not do push for my Exchange mail. When I checked the update frequency it was set to "As items arrive" but the field said something like "Sync disabled while roaming". I find it really stupid that this isn't a user setting. Has anyone else found this? The other odd thing was that I couldn't send out mail via Exchange while roaming.

HTC Desire :: Exchange For Mail - Any Standard Application

Apr 19, 2010

I have a problem getting the mail application for Exchange to work. I read through several threads and got to install Touchdown. Strange thing is that this app works fine and the mails from the Exchange server are sent perfectly to the HTC Desire. What is even more strange is that a colleague of mine has exactly the same Desire and is on the same Exchange server as I am and for him, the Mail application for Exchange works perfectly. I really want to use the standard mail application. I saw there is an option in Touchdown 'Fetch and trust certificate' which is not available in Mail for Exchange. I already tried to logon to the webmail via a browser but this did not seem to help.

Samsung Captivate :: International Roaming And Push Email

Aug 2, 2010

I just took my first trip to Europe with my Captivate. While there I could not get my corporate email service (which is setup via exchange activesync) to push email. The only way I could get email was to open the email application. It would then force a sync and update. The gmail push (with gmail app) seamed to work fairly well although delayed. As soon as I landed on US soil yesterday, push was instantaneous. I am coming from Blackberry so I am used to seamless push everywhere in the world. I have talked to some iPhone users and they indicate similar issues. So is this just an exchange thing that I have to live with or is there something that I can do to improve performance?

HTC Desire :: Exchange 2003 - MAIL App - Cant Get GAL Lookup - Global Address List - To Work

Apr 19, 2010

Anyone here using HTC Desire's Mail app to connect to Exchange 2003 server?

Everything's working great except I can't get GAL Lookup (Global Address List) to work. Mail's downloading just fine, Calendar sync's great and Contact sync's good.. but that critical moment when you want to shoot off an urgent note to an office colleague & can't remember his email handle... bummer! Stuck!

Strangely, in NexusOne when I had to rely on Touchdown by Nitrodesk, the Address Lookup worked just fine...

HTC bug perhaps? Of all the issues, I think this is Desire's biggest.

HTC Desire :: Cant Get Push Email To Push Using HTC Desire-always Reverts To Manual

May 26, 2010

I have a strange problem with Push email on my HTC Desire. I can set this up no problem - email comes in but only manually. I cannot get the push to actually work. When I go into the send receive schedule I can set up the days/hours for peak off peak and push but regardless of what I set these to be, when I go back to the previous screen it always says the Schedule is Manual. I've tried setting up lots of variations from manual through timed to push but still the same. Net result is push never seems to happen - manual overrides my schedule. To pick up email I have to go into email and do a manual sync.

Android :: Exchange Activesync Problem Desire HD - Cannot Send From Android Native Mail App

Nov 13, 2010

I have a brand new Desire HD. Up until 2 days ago, everything was working perfectly with my Outlook Exchange Account on the native Android Mail application. Running Android 2.2

Since then, there is something wrong with our Outlook certificate, and when I launch Outlook on my PC, I get a message that the name on the certificate is not valid. Ok, fine. So on the PC, I press "OK" and I am off and running.

On the Desire, I still get email, but if I try to SEND and email, it neither reaches the recipient, nor does the email end up in the "Sent" mail folder. When I go to "Accounts and Sync" and look at the Exchange account, I also see that i have a sync protocol error on Contacts syncing.

Now, I have installed Touchdown, and I CAN send email from here. Also, I have a friend who has an older Android phone that does not seem to be affected in a similar fashion connecting to the same exchange server.

Problem: The Touchdown app is kind of a pain from a user interface standpoint when you try to edit a contact. and it costs $20. And, I really prefer the native Mail widgets and stuff.

I am stuck using Touchdown at the moment so that I can send and receive emails, but I am hoping to find a workaround. Our IT people are working on the certificate problem, so maybe that will help. HOWEVER, I cannot afford to be without email every time there is a certificate problem.

Nexus :: Push - Exchange

Jan 12, 2010

I'm not sure if this is a Nexus issue, but does anyone else have a problem with push on exchange where e-mails marked as read or unread on your computer aren't reflected as being marked read or unread on your device. It works if I refresh, but the whole point of push is not having to refresh.

Nexus :: MS Exchange - Push Or Pre-Set Time

Jul 8, 2010

Out of curiosity is there any battery savings (or other inherent savings) in using a pre-set time to check Exchange email vs. Push? For example my corporate email is Exchange and my BlackBerry is set to push; on my N1 I have it set-up to check every 10 minutes. Would using Push decrease my battery life? Decrease my RAM? Any other downsides?

On the flip side - are there any advantages to enabling Push?

HTC EVO 4G :: Android And Exchange ActiveSync Push Email

Jun 14, 2010

I'm one who has not bought into all the iPhone and ipad Apple hype. And now that AT&T announced they would limit there data plans I'm even less of a fan.

So I've been using my corporate Blackberry.. I rarely surf on the phone - if ever to just use it to quickly prove a point or get some basic GPS navigation. Basically I use it as a phone, email device and calendar. Occasionaly to take a picture too.

I've not been too excited to change until now.

I understand the Evo can be used as a mobile hotspot at 4g? WOW! Anybody using it to serve wifi for a PS3 online game from it ? does it really work?

What about corporate push email? Will it work with Exchange ActiveSync to keep my Outlook email and calendars current on the phone? What about Gmail and yahoo push email? Will pushing emails from these three servers drain my battery?

How widespread is the Sprint 4g network? Any chance of getting 4g in places like Gainesville, FL, Macon, GA, Helen, Georgia?

Android :: Does HTC Stock Email App Support Exchange Push?

Jul 11, 2010

I know this has been talked about a lot in these forums, but I don't see any proof one way or the other. Some people say that the only way to get push notifications is to use the gmail app or a 3rd party app, and some people say you can use the stock HTC app and set things up through Exchange. Then some more people say that even setting it up through Exchange is a "pull" account as well, not push. However, what I don't see is hard core proof to back any of this up. I would imagine that there is documentation out there somewhere of what exactly is driving the email collection in the HTC Sense email app, and whether or not it is different for Exchange accounts.

Motorola Droid X :: Push Email Issues On Exchange

I have a Droid X that is upgraded to 2.2 but I noticed this weekend that I didn't receive emails on Saturday until I pinged the server on Sunday night. When I was on 2.1 this wasn't an issue and I'm noticing now it is.

Settings right now are:

Data Delivery:
1. Background data is OFF
2. Email and Corp Sync: Data Push

Battery Manager:
1. Now in Performance mode, I turned off Custom this morning.

I might have solved my own problem by changing to "Performance Mode".

Android :: How Exchange ActiveSync A Push Email Client

Aug 26, 2010

I was just tinkering with my Droid Incredible's "Accounts & Sync" and I am confused about something. With the Gmail app, there is no option to designate how often to check do for messages because it's a push email client, good. But when I check my settings for Exchange, I am given options to select how often to sync. I was under the impression that Exchange ActiveSync is a push email service, meaning I shouldn't need to designate when I want it to sync because it pushes vs. pulling. Am I missing something here?

I am running 2.2 froyo under SkyRaider 2.5

Motorola Droid 2 :: Corporate Outlook / Exchange Sync - Push

Sep 10, 2010

I just got my D2 the other day and have it all setup, but something I've noticed differently from the D1 is that all my Outlook/Exchange e-mails take 5-10 minutes to be delivered even with the Push feature turned on. On the Droid 1, the messages were delivered instantly ometimes even before they arrived in my Outlook client at my desk.

I have it setup as a Corporate Sync account with all the same settings, but I feel like they have taken a step backwards with the Corporate Sync settings. I'm running 2.2.20 (rooted of course), but it's just a hit or miss when the messages come in. I did call VZW's tech line and the lady on the phone said there was some memo about this issue. She didn't mention if there was a work around, or if a fix is coming. It's almost as if the Sync button doesn't do anything.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Gmail Exchange Activesync Push Configuration

Sep 28, 2010

On Epic Android 2.1

Just yesterday I configured my primary gmail email on a Samsung Epic using Exchange activesync.. It was working and syncing very fast. Except for some VERY IMPORTANT missing features : Default send From, Send From dropdown for all emails in my gmail account and Reply From the original recipent - I was at least happy to get push gmail.

However, today, in an attemp to find some way to send emails as my other domains on the gmail account I deleted that gmail account from the Phone and attempted to configure the secondary account via ActiveSync with something like googleme@mydomain.com... when that did not work (got loading message at the end and it never came back), I presumed you can't do that.. but now I can't even add the orignal gmail acccount back in with Exchange activesync. Same endless loading message ???

so I gave up and let it automatically add gmail account - smtp with 30 minute get sync. Errr.

Did I break something? I'm still able to authenticate into my google account as the gmail primary and the secondaries from the web.

Did I change something on the googl eacoount to cause this? I did add a 3rd email and also made it the default send as on the web client - though that has no bearing on the Android email client.

Android :: 2 G-Mail PUSH Accounts ?

Sep 24, 2009

As you well know, Android provides push mail just for 1 G-Mail account. I use 1 g-mail account for personal use and 1 for business, and I find the other e-mail program included a real mess....

However, a couple of days ago I heard that Google provided sync capabilities with PUSH gmail on other devices (Iphone, Blackberry -they had it already - , Symbian, and Windows Mobile).

So what I did is I took the Windows Mobile instructions found here: Google Sync : Set Up Your Windows Mobile Phone - Mobile Help

And plugged the settings into my Active Sync e-mail ("work e-mail", the one HTC included in the MyTouch 3g and puff I suddenly got push GMail for my second account as well.

Beware:
-you cannot archive like in Gmail and you will have to test the different features (does it delete from the server? do folders work?)
-as of now, only my incoming e-mail works. Outgoing e-mail acts like it's working but it doesn't send and doesn't show in the sent folder.

HTC Droid Eris : HTC Mail 5 Minutes Vs K-9 Push

Dec 15, 2009

So, after restoring my phone and re-downloading all my apps, I decided to try and use the standard Mail App instead of K-9 which I had been using. The UI is a little smoother. Anyway, I noticed that you can now have it check under 15 minutes. So I set it to 5, which is as close to "push" as I can think of. I noticed today that my battery was draining quicker than usual. Would checking every 5 minutes run the battery more than K-9's "push"? I was comfortable with K-9's push. Wondering if anyone else had this issue or thoughts on it.
