Android :: 2 G-Mail PUSH Accounts ?
Sep 24, 2009As you well know, Android provides push mail just for 1 G-Mail account. I use 1 g-mail account for personal use and 1 for business, and I find the other e-mail program included a real mess....
However, a couple of days ago I heard that Google provided sync capabilities with PUSH gmail on other devices (Iphone, Blackberry -they had it already - , Symbian, and Windows Mobile).
So what I did is I took the Windows Mobile instructions found here: Google Sync : Set Up Your Windows Mobile Phone - Mobile Help
And plugged the settings into my Active Sync e-mail ("work e-mail", the one HTC included in the MyTouch 3g and puff I suddenly got push GMail for my second account as well.
Beware:
-you cannot archive like in Gmail and you will have to test the different features (does it delete from the server? do folders work?)
-as of now, only my incoming e-mail works. Outgoing e-mail acts like it's working but it doesn't send and doesn't show in the sent folder.

Apr 27, 2010how to set up Gmail through an exchange server so that you can get push email in the HTC Mail app. I obviously can't be 100% sure this works, but the folks over at XDA seem to think this is the solution for the Desire. The instructions are for a Windows Mobile Device, but all of the information you need to fill in inside the HTC Mail app should be available at the link. Jul 19, 2010I am currently roaming outside my home network in the UK and cannot get Exchange Server to automatically synch. I have read countless posts on this forum and elsewhere trying to self-help before posting, but despite this one appearing to be the same issue, I have been unable to fix it.
In essence when opening Menu > Settings > Accounts & Synch > Manage Accounts / Exchange Active Sync > Account Settings I see that the option for "Sync when roaming" is not only unticked but also greyed out so I cannot enable it.
How can I fix this, please?
Note that Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Data roaming is ticked and so is ... > Enable always-on mobile data.
I am currently on an Edge network and manual Exchange Synch works just fine but having automatic sync is more important right now that worrying about the roaming charge.

Nov 7, 2009Is there a way to only set push e-mail for the Inbox folder? When I set up push e-mail for my Exchange server it wants to download the mail in all of my folders. That is over 2,000 messages.

Dec 2, 2009I have my yahoo mail account set up to my hero I never get my mail pushed to the phone I have set it to 5 minute push 15 minute push etc etc .. but works fine if I manually check it, all my mail is there. I alsohave my yahoo account set as default. When I set it up I assume it was done properly hence the reason I can receive the mail if I refresh it myself ...are there any other settings that I may be missing?

Dec 15, 2009So, after restoring my phone and re-downloading all my apps, I decided to try and use the standard Mail App instead of K-9 which I had been using. The UI is a little smoother. Anyway, I noticed that you can now have it check under 15 minutes. So I set it to 5, which is as close to "push" as I can think of. I noticed today that my battery was draining quicker than usual. Would checking every 5 minutes run the battery more than K-9's "push"? I was comfortable with K-9's push. Wondering if anyone else had this issue or thoughts on it.

Jan 10, 2010I've had my Hero for about 4 months now, and other than the battery issue (I do use it a lot) I'm pretty satisfied. However since Thursday last week, I've had the SAME phone number call me, have someone jabber at me, and then hang up! I looked up the area code, and it's in Jamaica! Today has been the worst, I've had 5 calls from that same number. Frankly its really started to get annoying. I called Sprint, and asked customer care if they can block that number from the account. And they can't do that. Apparently blocking that number is an infringement on their rights. On my Hero, I've been able to find that I can just push all those calls from that number to my voice mail, but I can't block it from my line altogether. Anyone else having the same or similar issue that has come up with another option?

Nov 30, 2009I want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

Anyhow - I need to know if there is some way to push data to the phone from a server. I'd prefer to avoid using SMS to push (user charges), or constantly polling the server (lets see, every 5 seconds = 12 times a minute, 720 times an hour, over 17000 a day)

May 26, 2010I have a strange problem with Push email on my HTC Desire. I can set this up no problem - email comes in but only manually. I cannot get the push to actually work. When I go into the send receive schedule I can set up the days/hours for peak off peak and push but regardless of what I set these to be, when I go back to the previous screen it always says the Schedule is Manual. I've tried setting up lots of variations from manual through timed to push but still the same. Net result is push never seems to happen - manual overrides my schedule. To pick up email I have to go into email and do a manual sync.

Oct 2, 2010I'm having trouble with sync/delete working. I just started using G-Mail. I never needed it before (my home and work e-mail was enough). But now i do (looking for a new job and want the e-mails instantly on my phone). when i delete an e-mail on my phone (G-Mail account) it comes back. I use "windows live" as the client on my desktop. it's like they are separate accounts. If i delete something on the desktop, it's still on my phone. If i delete something on the phone, it's still on the desktop my Exchange e-mail account works perfect (when i delete something in outlook, it's deleted on my phone at the same time).

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? 1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.

Sep 23, 2010I have the samsung captivate. When I first got the K9 mail it worked fine. But it seems that after an update a few weeks ago my new mail icon seems to be stuck. I do get my notification and when I check the mail, it does show new mail the first time. But after I check it and clear it from my mail, it still shows that I have 2 new message or so. The number keeps growing. Any way to clear this?

Jul 22, 2010I tried to set up my pop3 e-mail on my phone last night and I keep getting a "username or password is incorrect" error message on my incoming email. I am able to send e-mail from the phone.The funny thing is that if I check my email from my PC and empty any e-mail's that are in my inbox, then try to check for new e-mail's with my DroidX (knowing that there are none) I do not get any errors.The errors only occur when there are e-mails in my inbox.Didn't have any problems with this setup with the incredible.
