Im looking for an app which would show some popup window containing apps/folders which I've selected.
The idea is that I could quickly access my most-used apps, and maybe folders, without flicking through many home screens.
Im using the stock A2.1 launcher (on SE x10mp).

I usually view email with attachments from my pc because I usually lack the time to download the attachment. Today, I had some spare time so I tried to download an attachment. It downloaded fine but when I went to view it, I received a pop-up box to save it to the sd card. After pressing ok, I was told the save was successful but now I can't find it. Aside from pics and videos, how do I access other folders with saved data?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for an app or a way to be able to access the shared folders of my desktop PC in my android mobile (Huawei U8650 not rooted) and my tablet (Acer A100 also not rooted).
I want to be able to watch my movies in the shared folders or read my ebooks like I do from my laptop.The PC is connected with a wifi rooter as all the rest devices. Since the laptops can access the shared files, I guess my android devices should also be able to do it... but how...?
Some background info: I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so no SD-Card. Rooted, running Paranormal Android.
So what started bugging me lately is the fact that android just places folders created by apps in my main storage, which ironically is called /sdcard/.
Is there a way to create a folder, for instance: ProgramFiles, and make android place all folders made by apps in that folder? That way only my Music, Movies folder etc would stay in the main storage.
I don't mean folders on the home screen, look at the attached imaged if you don't understand. I want to know if it's possible to organize those instead of having to go through multiple pages.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am coming up on my 30 day return deadline and want to see if my phone might have a hardware problem (hoping it doesn't) or if it's normal that i've got temps of up to 118 degrees. While idle or sleeping, the temp is of course low but once I start to fiddle with the phone, I see the temp go up and up quickly. Right now it's at 104.4F after about 5-10 minutes on my phone (web browsing, downloading apps, etc.) It is usually between 100F and 110F and sometimes the kickstand is hot to the touch. I feel like it gets abnormally hot in a short amount of time. Hottest it ever got was about 118F while playing home run battle 3D and my LED alternated which meant it was overheating. There isn't a day that the phone does not get hot. Also, I do have a case on it which might contribute to the heat a bit. What are your normal temps while using the phone?

Trying to access shared folders on my home network (3 computers running XP) via the Media Share.
Set up the files for sharing on the computers.
On my Droid clicked on "Media Share" -> "Start" -> "Computer" -> "Copy" -> "Windows File Sharing" -> "Next" -> Shared 3 folders on my computer. -> "Next" -> Verified my home network was availabe, clicked "Next" -> clicked "Next" -> "Shared Folders" -> "Add Server" -> "Scan for Servers" ->
At this point it finds the IP address of the laptop Im working on. using DHCP. But when I click on it, it keeps asking for a user name and password. dont have one for XP and no password on the files.
I even tried flashing a custom rom (Fresh) on the last attempt and it just seems like it is giving me the Sprint stock Rom. Shouldn't the custom Rom look different? Once rooted do I still need to use Unrevoked method to grant superuser access for Apps?

I am able to browse through default browser and opera mini, suggesting that my internet connection is working fine. However, none of my apps are able to access it. I cannot use Play Store or youtube. Tried to dig deeper into where and when apps are accessing your data networks regardless of whether it was while you are on wifi or mobile networks. I'm rooted running 4.1.1 and I'm looking for an app that sort of works like a proxy except for my own phone and just my phone's data. The goal is to see which apps are accessing the internet and what websites they are accessing and how often, ect. Basically I'd like to eavesdrop on my own apps. Is that possible? How can I do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have two Google accounts, one private and one for work. Unfortunately, I have been fired a month ago and I have no more access to the latter. I believe it is still active but they changed the password and I just can't login.
The problem is that all the apps registered in my Google Play under this account are not available for uninstall or update. Each time I try, I get the message "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account."
The apps work well on the Android phone but I can't manage them. Moreover, I can't reinstall apps that I uninstalled using the disabled account. All the apps that have been installed with my private account are managed just fine.
I am using a Samsung S2 (GT-I9100) with Android 2.3.3. Google Play Store v 3.7.15.
how I can get the control back on those apps?
I have a rooted Fascinate. Using ES file explorer I was able to view system folders and found the system media files containing ringtones, notification tone, etc. However, I can not edit the files there or paste new files in there. I cannot find the system folder when I connect the fascinate to a computer. I tried showing "hidden files" but the folders still would not show up.
What I want to do is add my downloaded ringtones into the system media folder so that I can use those ringtones without having those ringtones appear in my music player. Another post tried to deal with this issue of the music player recognizing ringtones and notification tones, but no one could provide an actual solution to the problem. If I could move ringtones from the media folder on the SD to card to the media folder in the system folder, this would solve the problem.
Can anybody access the system folders in a manner that I can add files to the folders.
EDITED: PROBLEM SOLVED.
With the help given below, I came up with a solution, and have pasted instructions directly below.
Here are the steps I did in case any one else is interested.
Once your phone is rooted, it's pretty simple.
1)Download Root Explorer from the Market. Root explorer will give you the ability to edit folders/files that normally can't be edited, ie read and write permission as opposed to read only.
2)Using Root Explorer (make sure in top left of program it says "mounted as r/w"), copy any ringtone, notification file, .ogg file, .mp3 file, etc that you have made or downloaded, by selecting sdcard folder and navigating to the location of your tones, long pressing the file of interest, and select copy. (You can even long press on the folder and copy the whole folder of tones).
3)Still using Root Explorer, back out of the SD folder, and find the folder called "system". Navigate to system/media/audio/"ringtones" or "notifications" . Click the paste button at the bottom of the screen (which should have appeared as soon as you copied your file/folder). The file/folder will now be in your system's tone folder.
4)You must power down and power back up your phone before the phone will recognize these newly added tones.
5)Either delete the tone files from your SD card, or put a .nomedia file into the folder to remove them from the SF's media player.
Just wondered, it seems that sometimes when you download an app to try and then you remove it, does this completely remove all the files from the internal memory?, im sure i have done this before and it seems i loose a small piece of memory after uninstalling Just wondered if there was a certain uninstaller that completley removes all files & folders?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm kinda new to android, and not sure if this is a handset or os thing but, when you swipe up from the bottom of the x10 screen to display all your apps, is there a way to sort the apps into folders. i.e. move all games into a games folder, put all work apps into a work folder, etc. like i said not sure if this is an os thing or if i could download an app to do it, i have done a little searching online but didn't come up with any answers.

When apps access address book, what address book are they accessing? The phone address book? What if it's a tablet, which has no address book, is it access your google contacts?

I have an account used specifically for playstore and my tablet and phone. I also access my personal gmail through my tablet or phone, using a different account. Does that mean that Angry Birds knows about both the account used by playstore AND my personal gmail account?
