HTC EVO 4G :: Signal - Low Bars Inside Of My House/office
Jul 31, 2010On my EVO, my time without a signal is usually over 90%. I live in a good coverage area, but low bars inside of my house/office (both the same, where I am all day) I put on airplane mode for kicks, and in 12hrs, the battery dropped only 10%. So that being said, it seems to me as if there is a definite conclusion between signal strength and battery life. Any suggestions? and yes, I did the GSM-DCMA trick .

It turns blue as soon as i turn on WiFi and connect to the Internet.
Im also not able to use Mobile data due this problem...
Sprint HTC Hero :: Dropping Calls In Your House Due To Poor Signal Strength
Dec 4, 2009I was having issues with constant dropped calls from my house, which is in an area according to the Sprint coverage map that should have excellent coverage. I went to my Sprint store, which is a repair center, and they told me to go to menu>settings>Wireless controls>Mobile network settings>Roaming, and switch from Automatic to Sprint only. I did this, and have not dropped a call yet. The tech told me that depending on exactly where you are and where the nearest Sprint tower is compared to the nearest say Verizon tower, the phone will continuously try to switch between the two towers for the best signal when set to Automatic, and that can cause dropped calls, static calls etc. Ever since I switched this setting I have not dropped one single call or gotten any static, even with 0-1 bars for signal strength. He told me only use Automatic if you are in an area where your phone has no service due to no nearby Sprint tower.

Oct 23, 2013I am so upset because AT&T forced 4.3 update on my phone. For a month constantly ignored then yesterday message displayed could no longer be postponed.Now the blue Navigation icon is missing & even when I do uninstall google maps update doesn't revert to 6.0. Is that because 4.3 won't allow it to and if so is there a work around. My phone was already set up to allow manual updates only which is how I kept blue navigation for so long & never updated maps. but when 4.3 was forced it looks as it removed blue navigation app.

Apr 14, 2014So after flashing Cyanogen 10.2 on my galaxy S3 (which previously had 4.2 jellybean stock rom installed) I had no service and an unknown IMEI and basband. I went into root browser and replaced the current EFS folder with one I Had backed up a couple of days ago which was 100% working fine. after a quick restart the signal bar at the top has no signal for about 30 seconds then gets signal for 10 seconds.If I go into setting and phone status during the period of signal I have network 02-uk network type-hsdpa and my phone number stays unknown and my imei is being shown correctly during both signal periods.
I cannot find a similar issue anywhere else at all and as im fairly new to all this I'm completely stuck. I have a backup of my old rom (which wont flash due to status 7 error) I 'd rather keep this rom if possible though.
General :: Status Bar Signal Icon Change
Jun 13, 2012I made some changes to the status bar and for the most part it went smooth other than the signal icon. I have a D3 with the Eclipse 3 rom. I used Ninjamorph went into framework , apps, systemui.apk and changed the png files of the signal bar png's. when I reboot the new image shows up but changes back to the old style when the 3g or 1x kicks in. do I need to change a different signal png?

Jan 11, 2013I'm using a Lenovo a60 phone. It has dual SIM support. However i rarely keep the second SIM card activated which results in a no-signal icon beside the 1st SIM signal icon. Anyway i can remove the NO SIGNAL icon ONLY? I still want the signal strength of the second SIM to appear when SIM 2 is activated but i don't want the icon when SIM 2 is deactivated.
I believe it lies somewhere in the SystemUI.apk since that's how i removed the Vibration Indicator icon.

Nov 4, 2009I want to reach out to others here before I take my Moment back to Best Buy to exchange it for another Moment.
My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?

Nov 17, 2012Getting set to upgrade my Original Motorola Droid to hopefully Droid Razr Maxx HD, as well as my wifes LG Chocolate (to more updated less expensive smartphone minus the bells and whistles than mine. At the same time adding 2 lines for the kids. Is it smarter to keep on the family plan as they will no doubt kick me to share everything(Got Verizon) or keep the kids on a non contract plan? Trying to do this around Black Friday depending on the better deal(Amazon, or possible better site)
