Recently I noticed what appeared to be horizontal lines in the middle of the screen. I thought the screen was failing until I realized the lines are very, very small lines of text. How to remove these lines of text?

I am working on a project for a school system where they want to used deactivated donated phones in the classroom for WiFi access only.They will be reset to Factory Defaults, so we'll need to get pass the Activation screen.
It will be a variety of phones so that is why I am posting this here.It appears there are several different ways of bypassing the screen.I seriously doubt that they will allow Rooting of the phone, but I will pass it along as a suggestion.
Seems like the most common is the 4 corner clockwise tap. This seems to work for HTC and Motorola.What I cannot find is if this is permanent or not? If the phone Is powered off and then back on, does this have to be done again or is it once and done?I've read both, but without device in hand, I cannot confirm or deny.
Is there a list out there for all the models that support this?Samsung looks like you have to dial *#83786633 But this does not seem like a permanent solution--has to be done every time.Permanent seems to Root and delete or freeze phone.apk or setupwizard.apk?
Anyone know of an android app for kids to practice writing their letters on the screen with a fingertip? Similar to writepad or abc pocketphonics for the iphone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to sync a rostering app between two devices using dropsync. The .db files that need syncing are in the /data/ data/com/databases directory. Using Root explorer I can change the permissions to give full rw permission to others. The two .db files will then upload to the dropsync server.The problem is that whenever the app is opened and anything modified, the permissions change back to default and thus dropsync can't access the modified .db... Is there anyway to change this or am I wasting my time? what is the 'sticky' box option in RE?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was able to root Karbonn A37 (MTK6577) using the software from t URL.....After the root process it instalsl this app - URL.....This app is in Chinese and it manages all the root permission requests as well as installs its own su and some other files.
I have tried to root using many other methods available here and only the above method was successful. After rooting I tried installing SuperUser and found that su is always getting overwritten. I would really love to use the standard English version of su and superuser, but if I uninstall the the Chinese app, the root access goes away.
Any way to make root permanent without the Chinese app and mange root permissions using superuser. Also what is this Chinese app doing, that none of our other rooting methods are not able to do?
I want to sync my Facebook images INTO Google contacts. Is there something that will do this?
"Contact-Sync" or "haxsync" do not do the job as it relies on simply joining contacts and display correctly for only one phone/rom. Problem is that the image is only linked on your phone but not really linked directly to google contacts.
Setting an image to a contact from a file appears to do the trick but there is no way that I know of to automatically set a facebook picture into google contacts.
I have 2 horizontal lines (1mm apart) about an inch from the bottom of my screen. They are dark gray, and are there not matter if I reset the phone, switch to landscape mode, etc. They show in all programs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to do anything permanent to my sd-card. I was on my vacation so all my vacation photos were deleted. It is writable, I can delete, write and change as I want but when it's rescanned all changes (delete, write etc...) were never made and it sets itself back to the 23rd. Now I have access to my computer so I formatted the sdcard hoping it would fix it. After I put it in my phone all files popped back up. So my case is:I cannot make any permanent writes/changes to it.
Formatting doesn't seem to work. Once again, it is writable (Temporarily), i took a photo and pushed it into the /system partition, it was there but not on the sdcard after reboot. Root explorer have options for mounting it R/w and R/O (It doesn't normally do that).
I purchased a AOSON M60 fabbed at foxconn a couple of weeks back, it claims to be pre-Rooted. From Item Description: "The machine has obtained permanent ROOT privileges, a great convenience to the user management system software and remove unwanted software."
I have tested this with the Root checker app and it fails reporting that the device isn't rooted. I have checked this with Titanium Backup and it also reports it's not rooted.
When i have checked this with SuperOneClick v 3.2.2 it says:
Checking if rooted... CheckIfRooted 0.14s True
Checking for shell root... CheckIfShellRooted 0.15s False
The application then stopps at Shell rooting device...-Step #7 WaitForDevice (This never completes)
From my simple understanding, the shell rooting is a one shot thing per boot, and isn't required if the device reports back that rooted=true.
I just got a droid about 3 weeks ago and just downloaded the Nes emu and a couple games on my phone i had to dl astro file manager i then downloaded SNes emu and tried to download a rom for it evrytime i click on the download button for the rom it brings up a screen with alot of numbers and letters in a random order and wont dl.. is there something different i need to be doing for SNes games?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLast night i was on the Ebay app on my desire i finished looking at some items i sold then i sat it down to let it charge. a few minutes later i got a text or email so i push the power button on top and this is what i saw.. Sorry for the quality. I have no idea what has caused this. I left the battery out over night and it still does it. I can still hear notifications and what not just cant see anything. The phone is less than a month old. I have never dropped it or anything. Its flawless, not a scratch on it. It seems like every time i get a new phone something odd like this happens to it. I also have been hearing alot of android phones have been causing ppl problems. I believe i can get it fixed through warranty. Has anyone have a clue what caused this? is it a hardware or software issue?
View 8 Replies View RelatedRandomly, when actively doing stuff on the phone, I go to white lines running from the top of the phone to the bottom when the screen was in portrait position. There were two of them on the right side, each line being a couple pixels in width, separated by a few pixels of normal screen. It lasted for a few seconds, and then the screen reset itself. It's only happened once or twice, but it should happen at all with such an expensive phone and nice screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed some type of faint scrolling lines on their screens. I notice it more when on lighter backgrounds, like the blue ink splash. Both my behold II and a friends has the same thing. Is this a property of OLED screens, some type of refresh? They are horizontal lines and dont always cover the whole screen.I really read how awesome an OLED screen was supposed to be, but eh I think the Iphone screen is still nicer. Any thoughts on these lines, I doubt this is limited to two phones.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo last night I was riding in the car using my hero. All of a sudden 2 lines appeared across the screen horizontally about 1" up from bottom. Can't fix it. Tried a hard reset to factory and still there. Any suggestions? I am traveling in Chicago today so will find a sprint store for exchange. I have TEP. But at 2 days old should it just be swapped for a new one and not affect TEP?

Getting set to upgrade my Original Motorola Droid to hopefully Droid Razr Maxx HD, as well as my wifes LG Chocolate (to more updated less expensive smartphone minus the bells and whistles than mine. At the same time adding 2 lines for the kids. Is it smarter to keep on the family plan as they will no doubt kick me to share everything(Got Verizon) or keep the kids on a non contract plan? Trying to do this around Black Friday depending on the better deal(Amazon, or possible better site)

I can't wipe the phone since I cannot access the command menu (or whatever it is called when you hold down the home, volume up and power buttons.)
It was working perfectly on night. I turned it off and the next day when I turned it on this was shown. It was not dropped and there is no water damage.
Samsung screwed me over. I sent the phone to them and when they said it was not under warranty I agreed to pay the price and sent the mail back.
I then received my phone a week later saying I had not accepted the repair price.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus three weeks ago, and I notice that when taking a photo, the image appears with pink lines in the gallery. I took it to be repaired, and they changed the camera, but the issue, still exists. Which made me think that probably it is not a hardware problem. The version is the OS is JB 4.2.2.

By this, I mean a single row in the ListView is always highlighted; it should move up or down in reponse to any D-pad presses (i.e. like the default selector) but also remain set/highlighted if the user were to scroll the ListView in either direction (i.e. it's still highlighted even when it's off-screen).
I've looked at using the standard selector mechanism, but am unable to get the selector to remain in place if the ListView is touched (and thus scrolled), so it makes me think that this isn't the best option? Perhaps there's a <selector> "state_*" that I've ignored?
The other option would be to use the onItemSelected() callback, but at first look this appears more convoluted?
Any suggestions/recommendations/experiences gratefully received.

It seems to jump between '3G' and 'H' when I use any applications using the internet. This means that pages often fail to load/download, or appear slower than 2G connection speeds.
I think this is because I'm in an area which can just about receive HDSPA speeds sometimes, but not consistently, so I was wondering if there's any way to set the internet to stay at 3G and not attempt to connect to HDSPA? When I'm in areas where the best speed possible in 3G, the internet is infinitely faster than when it's jumping from 3G to H and back.
