Android :: App For Setting Different Ringtones For Each Person On SMS?

Don't know if this is possible but i know it don't come standard on my phone (Captivate). i just moved over from razor and while it may seem un-needed, i really really miss the feature to have a different ringtone for ppl on messaging. which gets used a million times more than actual calls. lets me know whose texting if I'm not around the phone
Is there an app for setting different ringtones for each person on SMS?

I'm looking for an app that sets specific actions (like changing ringtones, volume of notifications, e-mail notifies on/off) according to the SSID/availability of WiFi networks nearby. Pretty much like "locale" does for position, but tied to WiFi availability. The idea is that I can turn off e-mail alarms/notifies when I'm at home/work where I have a PC anyway (WiFi of home/work is detected) while automatically having them turned on when I leave the house (no wifi anymore).

I have downloaded Mabilo sounds and assign a certain ringtone to my girl.It says it is assigned, but when she calls it goes to the default ringer.How do I keep that ringer assigned to her?

I got my Nexus a few days ago and now i seem to have found my first problem with it.You apparently cant assign ringtones to contacts.I have a g1 so I know how to do it on there but the option is no longer there on the Nexus one. Am I missing something or does it just not allow it anymore.If not does anyone know an application that will allow me to do this?

Im having a problem with getting individual ringtones set up. I download a few from mabilo ringtones but when i set them to my contacts it only plays the default one. I tried re-writing the download with ringdroid but that didnt work either. Any help or advice.

This question has been tossed around, but not really answered directly for the incredible. It appears that Android on the Incredible is different, so opening a contact, (people) on the Inc is nto the same as the Droid and edit/ringtone is not available.Can anyone give me a step by step of how to assign a specific ringtone to someone in my people/(contact) list?

Is anyone else having problems with setting MP3's as ringtones? I sure am! When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? Has anyone figured out a workaround and/or fix to this problem?

Am I forgetting something? I used chompSMS to set custom notifications for specific people texting and it works. I used Ringdroid to assign custom ringtones to people and all that comes through is the default when they call.

Brand new to captivate. Finally setup doubletwist to transfer my previous ringtones. I could only set up a folder in music and so did that. Now I am trying to link to them and all I get is library. Are the ringtones in the wrong location? The basic process of setting it to a contact (as listed in many places) doesnt seem to work.

How do we set a text message ringtone? When we text, all we get is a goofy little chime and the phones vibrate. I'll never hear that thing in my purse.I went to settings>notifications and set a soundbite I want to use after transferring it to the media>notifications folder, and when I get e-mails, it worked. But not for texting.
Also, what forum do I use for the double time? What is rooting, and do we need to do it? We got the phones through AT&T and they work fine so far. Also, we have wifi at home- does that still count against our 3g plan when we're using that to access the market while trying to figure this out?

How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

The reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. What is going on here? I have lookout AVP app loaded and running at all times.List on my runnng apps on EVO:

I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.

I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

Is there any way to set my fav ringtones to Alarms, ringtones and notifications?i can't copy my songs to root of HTC like /system/audio/..i made a folder structure in /sdcard/media/audio/alarms ,notifications, ringtones. and it didn't work. neither /sdcard/alarms, notifications, ringtones does.

Having seen so many people posting images of their home screens, I have come to the conclusion that I must be the only person to hardly use widgets! I have two - Calendar Pad (1x1) which shows me todays date and when I click it it takes me direct to my week view, and the Power Bar to turn off WiFi, GPS, etc. I've tried things like Face book, Twitter, News, etc, and just get frustrated as they don't really display enough. Maybe I've just not found the RIGHT widgets yet, but I fear I may be missing out on something!

This person has been texting me none stop for 3 days I've even involved the police who didn't even bother since its a cricket wireless # they can't trace. This person seems obsessed and at times honestly scares me. They've sent over a hundred texts in less than an hour. Pls I've tried googling but come up with year old posts that lead to nothing. Market searches lead to only bad reviews.

What would you suggest to tell this person? Would you explain everything by hand or just refer to external links? Which ressources would you recommend? This whole issue should not take too much time...assuming 2-3 hours.
Once my access to this issue was "Professional android application development". Java basics are already preconditioned, so there's no need to explain ANYTHING.

Every morning at 7:45 my friends and I "have coffee" together on line. We use MSN live. I have yet to find a chat app that will allow me to have ALL of my friends in the same window. Everything I have found only allows one person per window . . .any ideas?
If I was organized I would tell you which ones I have tried but haven't kept track . . .because I gave up - now am back at it again!
Just dawned on me - if my friends are already in msn chat- I need an app that they can invite me into that conversation - have to have msn chat? Because that will only let me have one person at a time.

I have the Eris with Verizon and my wife has the Hero with Sprint. Something happened a couple days ago where I can't text her anymore. I can call her and email her. And she can text me, but I can't reply or originate a text.I have deleted her from gmail contacts and phone contacts and re-entered her info fresh several times. Still nothing. I updated to os 2.1, but this happened days after that. Anyone having this issue too? Is it on my end or her end?

me and many of my mates have unlimited texts on our contracts and we like playing jokes on each other where we send loads of texts at the same time to 1 person. so for instance if they dont come out for drinks then they get sent loads of texts. This is not so easy on the Hero so was wondering if an application exists that can send 1 or 2 contacts loads of messages at once?

I have a ton of people in People (google) and 300 people in Facebook. All seem to link just fine. Except one person. She is in People (google) and in Facebook. Same exact name. If I open up People, she is there. If I open up Facebook friends, she is there. When I open up People, find her and try to link to Facebook, she is not there.

I have as a lot a people troubles with the new ContactsContract class.
My problem is like in 1.5 and 1.6 devices, we can add a key to a contact with the Contacts.People.Extensions class. But now there is a problem with this content provider.. It's unknown by new devices. And it's the only provider who does not work. Does someone know why is it not working anymore ? And is there a new way to put some extensions for contacts ( with the ContactContract class maybe?
