I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

I discovered something interesting today. I installed some custom ringtones to my SD card last night by creating a ringtones folder on the SD card and copying the ringtones into that folder.
I then selected one of the custom ringtones as my default ringer.
Today my battery was drained over 60% by 11am. (unplugged at 6:30am)
Before adding the custom ringtones, I was easily making it to the evening hours without any battery problems.
I checked the battery status and was alarmed to see that my up time and awake time were nearly 1 for 1!
I rebooted the phone thinking there was a run away app. After being up for an hour, same problem, a 1 to 1 ratio.
The battery use indicated Cell Standy as number 1 with Android System as number 2.
I knew something was wrong as usually Phone Idle is number 2 in my list.
So, I deleted the Ringtones folder I created on the SD card and rebooted.
I checked the phone over the last couple hours and awake time an up times are back to normal, as is my battery use indicator.
Long story short, it appears that the system may have been staying awake to keep the SD card powered since my default ringtone resided on the SD card?
i picked something as the default (ringtones) and want to be able to pick from my music for notification sounds. how do I switch it?

When I attach a file and pic to send as mms in handscent they are all alphabetical but in 2 sections. i'll scroll down through a-z, then after that it starts a-z again with other rigntones. They are all stored in same folder. Why is there 2 sections of ringtones instead of just all in one a-z list?

View 49 Replies View RelatedThe reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.
I am enjoying my new phone but having trouble finding apps with up to date mp3 music/ringtones on and could someone explain how i save mp3 tracks/ringtones to my memory card.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy "New Every 2" comes up on 10/6 and I'll be ordering an LG Ally for myself and my wife. if Verizon has blocked the ability to create custom ringtones and not force you to use their app? With my old RAZR I had to "hack" the registry to get it to work. With my current LG enV2 I had to use a free 3rd-party app (the name escapes me at the moment) in order to add files to the Ringtones folder. I seriosuly doubt that app supports Android phones.

I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). Or do I need to install alternate ringtones? If so, what are some good ringtone apps to handle this? When I go to Settings > Sound and Display > Voice call ringtone , the only ringtones I can choose from are the ones that came with the phone. It's the only thing that pops up. Theres nothing for me to click anymore that lets me search my android system for audio files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently set a custom notification ringtone to alert me when I receive a new text message. The ringtone sits in my SD card under the folder "Notifications". Sometimes, I will get a text and my phone will vibrate and pulse light, but the notification ringtone will not be heard. When this happens, I go to Menu>Settings>Sound & display>Notification ringtone and then reselect my ringtone. What will happen on most occasions is as soon as I tap the ringtone I want to set, it will not sample the sound file and the menu will freeze and force close. What happens after this usually involves some cursing and a reboot. Why is my phone forgetting my notification ringtone selection? Why does it force close like that and how can I prevent this? If it makes any difference in your diagnosis, I am rooted.
