I got my Nexus a few days ago and now i seem to have found my first problem with it.You apparently cant assign ringtones to contacts.I have a g1 so I know how to do it on there but the option is no longer there on the Nexus one. Am I missing something or does it just not allow it anymore.If not does anyone know an application that will allow me to do this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find the option other than create a whole new ringtone in Ringdroid. I've already created the ringtone in that! For some reason it wants me to create yet another ringtone from the already created one if I want to assign it to a contact again.I cant seem to find the option to just assign a ringtone to a contact.I think installing Zedge as well may have wiped my existing custom ones I did.Is there not a way in the system to assign ringtones to contacts without an app? Or a simple app to do it?

When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? Has anyone figured out a workaround and/or fix to this problem?

Is there an app for setting different ringtones for each person on SMS?
I'm looking for an app that sets specific actions (like changing ringtones, volume of notifications, e-mail notifies on/off) according to the SSID/availability of WiFi networks nearby. Pretty much like "locale" does for position, but tied to WiFi availability. The idea is that I can turn off e-mail alarms/notifies when I'm at home/work where I have a PC anyway (WiFi of home/work is detected) while automatically having them turned on when I leave the house (no wifi anymore).

How do we set a text message ringtone? When we text, all we get is a goofy little chime and the phones vibrate. I'll never hear that thing in my purse.I went to settings>notifications and set a soundbite I want to use after transferring it to the media>notifications folder, and when I get e-mails, it worked. But not for texting.
Also, what forum do I use for the double time? What is rooting, and do we need to do it? We got the phones through AT&T and they work fine so far. Also, we have wifi at home- does that still count against our 3g plan when we're using that to access the market while trying to figure this out?
In my previous phone I could set different ringtones for those in my contacts list and then another ringtone for those numbers not in my contacts list so I could tell by the ringtone if someone was calling that was in my contacts list or not.On the Hero there doesn't seem to be any way to do this.I was also able to set different volume levels for various notifications (ie, louder for phone calls and quieter for email and sms notifications).Does anyone know if this is possible on the hero?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently set a custom notification ringtone to alert me when I receive a new text message. The ringtone sits in my SD card under the folder "Notifications". Sometimes, I will get a text and my phone will vibrate and pulse light, but the notification ringtone will not be heard. When this happens, I go to Menu>Settings>Sound & display>Notification ringtone and then reselect my ringtone. What will happen on most occasions is as soon as I tap the ringtone I want to set, it will not sample the sound file and the menu will freeze and force close. What happens after this usually involves some cursing and a reboot. Why is my phone forgetting my notification ringtone selection? Why does it force close like that and how can I prevent this? If it makes any difference in your diagnosis, I am rooted.

I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.

With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.

I know that IT at work have made changes to allow Android phones as they did it when the Motorola droid appeared, but whenever i try to connect i get "Username or Password incorrect".They are setup correctly and i have logged into OWA on the phone just to make sure its ok.Has anyone else had this? if so how did you resolve it?

I can set the default ringtone to something different and that works, but when I try to change it for one specific contact it still play the default one. I have tried changing it in the contact it self, i changed it from the app i downloaded, and i even set it using the music player. I don't know if it is something wrong with the phone or if its is something with 2.1. I went back to best buy where i got it and the one of the workers said the same thing happened to his hero and incredible when he updated to 2.1.

2.Last few days I was having difficulty accessing my wifi via my Nexus.It would work, then it wouldnt, then it would.It "connects" gets an ip address, but I can't access anything.
3.Examining my old router (801.1b!) I accidentally snapped the aerial.I thought maybe it was partly broken anyway, causing the problem, so I bought a new router. (DLINK DIR-615)
4.Had to delete old connection on Nexus as it was WEP, this uses WAP.
5.At first,it appeared to work,then it wouldnt, then it would, then it wouldn't.It "connects" gets an ip address, but I can't access anything.
6. Today, I tried using my N800, and it works fine on the same desk as my Nexus, which doesn't. Just a few feet from the router.
When i try and set one of my pictures from my gallery as a wallpaper it also makes me crop it first? Is there no fit to screen option? i even tried resizing the image to wallpaper resolution but still does same!
