Android :: Quick Access For A Third Person

Recently I was asked if I could help someone to get quick-started to android programming.
What would you suggest to tell this person? Would you explain everything by hand or just refer to external links? Which ressources would you recommend? This whole issue should not take too much time...assuming 2-3 hours.
Once my access to this issue was "Professional android application development". Java basics are already preconditioned, so there's no need to explain ANYTHING.
For avoiding any misconceptions: This shall be just a quick start, no reference or something like this, so I just need some keywords and a hint how deeply go through it.

On the LG Dare when I couldn't pick up my phone and I had to ignore a call after I pressed ignore it gave me the option to send a quick text which was a presaved text message to the person who was calling me. Can the incredible do this? Or there an app that can?

I am looking for a good phone book app that would allow quick access to all of my contacts sorted by groups. All i want is a contact list with group name tabs at the top or something like that. But no... not a single app can do this. Come of them support groups, others dont, but all of them make you jump through hoops to change them on the fly.

Having seen so many people posting images of their home screens, I have come to the conclusion that I must be the only person to hardly use widgets! I have two - Calendar Pad (1x1) which shows me todays date and when I click it it takes me direct to my week view, and the Power Bar to turn off WiFi, GPS, etc. I've tried things like Face book, Twitter, News, etc, and just get frustrated as they don't really display enough. Maybe I've just not found the RIGHT widgets yet, but I fear I may be missing out on something!

This person has been texting me none stop for 3 days I've even involved the police who didn't even bother since its a cricket wireless # they can't trace. This person seems obsessed and at times honestly scares me. They've sent over a hundred texts in less than an hour. Pls I've tried googling but come up with year old posts that lead to nothing. Market searches lead to only bad reviews.

Don't know if this is possible but i know it don't come standard on my phone (Captivate). i just moved over from razor and while it may seem un-needed, i really really miss the feature to have a different ringtone for ppl on messaging. which gets used a million times more than actual calls. lets me know whose texting if I'm not around the phone
Is there an app for setting different ringtones for each person on SMS?

Every morning at 7:45 my friends and I "have coffee" together on line. We use MSN live. I have yet to find a chat app that will allow me to have ALL of my friends in the same window. Everything I have found only allows one person per window . . .any ideas?
If I was organized I would tell you which ones I have tried but haven't kept track . . .because I gave up - now am back at it again!
Just dawned on me - if my friends are already in msn chat- I need an app that they can invite me into that conversation - have to have msn chat? Because that will only let me have one person at a time.

I have the Eris with Verizon and my wife has the Hero with Sprint. Something happened a couple days ago where I can't text her anymore. I can call her and email her. And she can text me, but I can't reply or originate a text.I have deleted her from gmail contacts and phone contacts and re-entered her info fresh several times. Still nothing. I updated to os 2.1, but this happened days after that. Anyone having this issue too? Is it on my end or her end?

me and many of my mates have unlimited texts on our contracts and we like playing jokes on each other where we send loads of texts at the same time to 1 person. so for instance if they dont come out for drinks then they get sent loads of texts. This is not so easy on the Hero so was wondering if an application exists that can send 1 or 2 contacts loads of messages at once?

I have a ton of people in People (google) and 300 people in Facebook. All seem to link just fine. Except one person. She is in People (google) and in Facebook. Same exact name. If I open up People, she is there. If I open up Facebook friends, she is there. When I open up People, find her and try to link to Facebook, she is not there.

I have as a lot a people troubles with the new ContactsContract class.
My problem is like in 1.5 and 1.6 devices, we can add a key to a contact with the Contacts.People.Extensions class. But now there is a problem with this content provider.. It's unknown by new devices. And it's the only provider who does not work. Does someone know why is it not working anymore ? And is there a new way to put some extensions for contacts ( with the ContactContract class maybe?

I want to build a widget to show the most contacted person.The widget will be displaying only one contact at a time, with some details. But, I also want to keep a button on the widget, so that when the button is clicked (eg, Next), the next most contacted contact details should be shown.

I'm setting up my wife's Samsung Intercept. Installed Juice Defender, Handcent, and free version of Launcher Pro. So far everything is working well. She wants a very quick way to access calling/texting her favorites. Is there a Contact Manger program that could have individual icons for each person that I could place on an empty home screen? So, wouldn't have to open the app, just go to the home screen where there would be multiple favorite people icons. I wonder if Launcher Pro Plus has this feature? I'm going to try Contapps as this looks like it might work. Not sure if I have to first open the app and then select favorites. She's trying to minimize the number of hits before dialing/texting.

I am about to finish my Android application. I would like to provide lite version and more complete paid pro version. Unfortunately, Google does not allow Australian developers to sell applications and I don't have any friends in US or UK.
Does anyone know of a person/company who would publish my pro application on my behalf? Google search did not bring up any results.

I am trying to find out what calendar to use on my home screen. I have the standard calendar widget enabled right now, but it's useless. It tells me I have something scheduled on each day, but that's it. The actual calendar app on my Incredible gives me kind of a bubble indicator for each day that is filled at different spots, depending on whether I have something set up for earlier in the day, middle of the day, etc. I want a full page widget that will do this, just having a marker that says that I have something on that day does me no good. I've also checked out some of the apps so far like Pure Calendar and while they are neat, they tend to tell me only a few days. I want the whole month laid out for me, so I can tell at a glance how busy any particular day will be. BTW, for anyone also wanting a widget with a layout on a day-to-day setup, check out Android Agenda, I use that for a text-based to-do list and it rocks, I just want a graphical one as well. I have stuff going on every day, but some are only 1 or 2 events, so the graphic layout is nice.

I have one specific person in my phone, and whenever they text me, it pops up on the screen and stuff, but the phone will not vibrate, will not make the alert noise or anything, Ive tried deleting and reading the contact, i tried making a custom sound for them, etc.. so weird. they aren't on a black list or anything. anyone else have this problem? what do i do?

I have face book and imported all my previous phone contacts so i currently have all of my old phone contacts and also "contacts" with all of my friends on face book. however all of my face book friends don't have phone numbers saved on face book so when i want to add a phone number to this person under "search people" on the phone, how can i do this? (to put it simply i want to add a number to a face book contact card on the phone if that makes sense)

Ive had the incredible since release day and within the last 2 weeks ive been having some texting issues. I will send a text to someone and a completely different person will recieve my text. It happened on my original Droid after a few months as well. Ive double checked everytime, and no im not accidentally choosing th wrong person. For instance if i send a text to Jenn (it has her name, her picture and number) but after being sent ill long press the message and it shows someone elses number. Verizon is not being very helpful and its starting to get annoying. Has anyone had this issue as well?

Anyone else having issues with texts going to the wrong person? I replied to some texts from my buddies and then my GF would reply back asking what i meant. I look through the text history and it appears it was sent to the correct person. Now i am scared to text anyone knowing that it could be sent to the wrong people.
And sometimes when i try to reply to a text it says i need to add a recipient.
I am thinking there is something wrong with the texting on this phone. I got my replacement phone yesterday and the same thing happened.

When I had 2.1 on my EVO I would occasionally get single picture MMS that I would receive as a "slide show," however, when I would try to view the picture, it would open up in the slide show mode or about HALF A SECOND then close. VERY ANNOYING. Well, before I could try to fix the annoyance, I dropped my phone, sent it in for repair an 20 days later, got my EVO back. The slide show half-second-opening was FIXED matter of fact I was NOT receiving anything as a slide show at all. THEN, one day, my father (also on Sprint, using a Samsung Rant) sends me a SINGLE picture and it appears as a slide show!! Well, the slide show worked which is well, ok but the slide show option I find QUITE annoying.

When I select a person's name on my text messaging list, it opens to a different person. I accident sent a text to the wrong person because of this, oops. It's been happening since I got my phone for the most part, but it didn't start to bother me until now because it seems to be happening more frequently. Anyone fixes for this?

I'm planning a solo camping trip for a week. Is there a way to make my htc incredible go into a mode where it only receives texts or phone calls from one person?
So: no email, news, weather, other texts, other voicemails, app updates...
I'm thinking it should be called Retreat Mode or Weekend Mode
I still want to have to phone on so my wife can reach me if she wants to but so I don't feel like I need to leave it behind or turn it off to avoid the other distractions. And I don't want a 2nd cell phone just for that purpose. maybe it's a long tasker script?

I have a nexus 5 and my girlfriend has a moto x. When she does "Ok google now, send text to Alex" and sends a text that way I get a SMS message in my hangouts inbox. But she also can send a text with hangouts and I have 2 seperate conversations going on with her at the same time and its really annoying. If Hangouts is the default, and ONLY messaging app on both of our phones, why does this happen? I thought Hangouts was the text/video/etc all in one thing. I've posted on G+ pages but couldn't get much back. Also when I send start a new hangout with somebody from my contacts, it automatically labels it an SMS message. I don't know if its because they dont have some sort of Gmail account linked up with their phone or they dont have a picture/profile set up or what. It's just so annoying to have 2 simultaneous conversations going on with the same person.
