Brand new to captivate. Finally setup doubletwist to transfer my previous ringtones. I could only set up a folder in music and so did that. Now I am trying to link to them and all I get is library. Are the ringtones in the wrong location? The basic process of setting it to a contact (as listed in many places) doesnt seem to work.

Is anyone else having problems with setting MP3's as ringtones? I sure am! When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? Has anyone figured out a workaround and/or fix to this problem?

View 27 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with getting individual ringtones set up. I download a few from mabilo ringtones but when i set them to my contacts it only plays the default one. I tried re-writing the download with ringdroid but that didnt work either. Any help or advice.

It appears that Android on the Incredible is different, so opening a contact, (people) on the Inc is nto the same as the Droid and edit/ringtone is not available.Can anyone give me a step by step of how to assign a specific ringtone to someone in my people/(contact) list?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got doubleTwist hoping for a nice easy sync to get all of my music from iTunes onto my phone. The problem is that I haven't purchased songs on itunes in over a year and I guess now they have something called iTunesPlus, which costs $0.30/song to upgrade to (and remove DRM) and doubleTwist can't convert my iTunes purchases to a playable format due to DRM protection. Is there another music sync service for Android that you guys would recommend that can help me actually put the music that I already paid for once on my phone? I'm not interested in giving Jobs another $182 just to listen to music I already paid for.
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoubletwist on my mac synced my itunes music library to the internal storage, not my new 32GB micro sd card. Try as I might I can't seem to find any setting to select this. Both internal and 32GB were mounted in Finder. Should I have unmounted the internal storage? Or is something else appropriate? What about copying the Music folder from the internal to the 32GB?

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to JH7, and realized that I can no longer use my own specific audio files as ringtones anymore...its only letting me use the stock ringtones. When I go to Settings > Sound and Display > Voice call ringtone , the only ringtones I can choose from are the ones that came with the phone. It's the only thing that pops up. Theres nothing for me to click anymore that lets me search my android system for audio files.

I have tried but with no success. I am able to play them in the player just not assign them as. My only guess is it is because I have no SD card yet. View 10 Replies View RelatedI always create calendar appointments with an alarm. A few days ago I went to Settings/Sound and Display/Notification Ring tone and set it to "on time". Maybe a day or two later I created my own notification ring tone and set it in settings. The ring tone works fine in Astrid and Nudist. However, the calendar notifications still use the "on time" ring tone. I even tried changing the notification ring tone to "tweeters" but calendar still uses "on time", even after multiple reboots.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my Captivate this past weekend and love it so far. I came over from the HTC Aria so I am a little Android savvy. Question is this. I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

It's annoying that when I download ringtones on my Captivate, it puts them right into my music files so that when I'm listening to music, the ringtones pop up and play every once in awhile. View 3 Replies View RelatedTotally new to "smart phones" and feeling pretty dumb right now I have managed to download a bunch of sounds (mpga) and saved them in my "sounds" folder on my Captivate. And following advice, have gone into my Contacts, scrolled down, and assigned a file as ringtone, then hit "Save". When viewing the contact, it shows the file as being assigned as their ringtone. And then when the call comes in.... Rings as default. Whats going on? Do the sounds have to be in the Ringtone folder? If yes, how do I do that? If no, what am I doing wrong?

I picked up the Captivate the other day and so far I love it but is there a way to assign custom non-Samsung message tones? I mean for texts and emails, calender alerts. When I open the apps and go to settings then change alert tone only the Samsung preloaded ones show up. I can choose any ringtone for calling, just not messaging. I downloaded several apps such as SMS Pop-Up and Chomp SMS to see if that would give me the option to choose any tone but no such luck. My last 2 phones have been a Blackberry Bold 9000 and a Backflip and both those phones had those capabilities. Anyone have any ideas?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Galaxy S phone (Epic 4G) and I have the following problem.I created a shortcut to a contact on the Home Screen like this:
- from the home screen, menu->add->shortcut->contact
- contact manager comes up; select contact
- the icon appears on the home screen.
Then when I tap the shortcut, it pops up a menu (call/info/message/email icons). Tapping the "call" icon displays all the available phone #s for that contact.However, I used "Mark as default" to set a default number for that contact, and now it dials that number right away instead of giving me the choice of numbers. I want to UNDO this, and clear the default number setting but I cannot figure out how to do it!
I have a captivate...awesome phone. I would like to know how to get the voice ringtones to link to my notification/email. I have tried several things to no avail. Anyone have any ideas.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy work email works great on my Captivate for incoming, but because of some weird settings at work, I cannot use the outgoing server. As a workaround, I want to set up my incoming as my work address, and then make my outgoing account on that email as a totally separate gmail account. This does not seem to work, so I created a separate account for my outgoing and that worked, but the problem with that is, when I try to "reply" to my incoming mail it does not work because the outgoing is set up on a separate email account rather than on the same one. Is there a way I can make my outgoing a completely separate SMTP than my incoming on the same account?
