i've tried out all the radios to test out which is the best for me..and i devided on the one that was based off the verizon radio..so i got an error message saying "You must be a Sprint Customer to use this feature" so i changed to the newest radio out 2.42.01.04.27 and i still get the same issue..what could it be?

I recently bought a HTC Hero with sprint. i took a picture and tried to send it via text message..i receive error of " Message size limit reached...sorry, you cannot attach this your message" Also, i cannot view a picture message sent to me. i tried also saving it to my 4gb card but cannot find where to view the files in my sd card...
View 19 Replies View RelatedSo last night i had my phone sitting on my dresser while i watched the dodger game about 2 hours later when i picked it up and attempted to check face book, it kept giving me error messages. Convinced that this was another stupid FB error i went to surf the web only to say I was not connected to a network. I looked at the top of my phone and i had 3 bars but next to there bars there was no 1x or EV signal just the bars. I went into my settings and un clicked the mobile network and then clicked it again and it worked This has happened to me about 4 or 5 times since i owned the hero since December. Anyone have any similar stories or explanations? Also sometimes it seems that when my phone is sleeping, i wont get text messages until i unlock it?

It is not allowing me to use the phone at all, it says no service. Even the sprint website has my phone greyed out as if it don't exist. Now if I do a hard reset, everything comes back on, but I lose everything. This is my second Hero and I am hoping that there is a fix. I went to HTC email support site to try and get a solution and it is down, getting really frustrated with this phone. I downloaded apps from the market and transfered music to the sd card.
I switched to Sprint yesterday from ATT and bought a Hero along with my dad. They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy phone was almost dead today so I just turned it off. When I got home and plugged it in and turned it back on I didn't have any service. It says no service. I have turned it on and off several times and have taken the battery out and put it back several times and nothing works. I have only had the phone for approximately 3 days. Anything I can do to fix it myself? I can't even pull up the phone pad or certain settings because I get an error message. I called technical support but because I can't get to the phone pad they can't help me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recieved an error two days ago saying "out of disk space". After restoring my phone to factory the ability to receive MMS/SMS went kaput! Surprisingly I can send but not receive messages. I was on the phone with Sprint for hours with to technicians. One of the techs implied that some of the early batch of phones from Best Buy have this issue. This is just one of the techs viewpoint. I am going to swap the phone today and see if it resolves the issue. I switched to Sprint specifically for TEXT so this could be a deal breaker. More to follow.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI realize that there isn't really a way to customize the vibrate function with stock functionality. And I realize that Handcent provides such an option (which I loved, for the short time it worked), but Handcent also causes vibrate to stop working almost completely in the phone (except for calls) even after being uninstalled. So Handcent is no option. Quite surprising actually, that they'd have such a fatal bug in the program. You always know when it happens to. You go to send a text (after some undefined amount of successful texts), and suddenly the phone reboots as you're sending. At that point, vibrate has stopped working for pretty much everything except calls. Anyway... my question is whether there's any other app out there to either customize the whole vibrate function, or at least customize it for texts. I did a search and couldn't find much information on the subject (and some of what I *did* find was rather old). Two quick vibrates is not very useful for texts when it takes much longer than that to notice it vibrating (especially with how weak and quick those two vibrations are).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI rooted my sprint HTC hero and installed CM6 on it the other day, and everything is working great... except voicemail. I was using the Sprint VVM app, and that worked, but I got that annoying SMS message with each new voicemail, so I decided to switch to Google Voice (for voicemail only). It seems to work, except when my friends (who also have Sprint) call, and I don't answer the call, they either get a fast busy signal or they hear a voice say something like "Call cannot be completed. Goodbye" and then it hangs up.
Calling from land-lines and other cells seems to work ok? I just enabled Google Voice today, so do I need to wait a certain amount of time before it works Sprint to Sprint, or? Has anyone else seen this before? I should mention, it only happens on unanswered calls. If i dismiss the call before it's done ringing, it properly goes to google voicemail.
there is no internal phone search! This seems really strange to me for a phone that has the Google branding. So they?re just for the internet and nothing else!? As a long-time Palm user, this was something that I used very regulary and I was surprised to find this feature missing ? it seems like it should be standard. Every computer/laptop has it in the form of either the Finder or Start/Search and a lot phones have it too. Anybody heard anything adding this one or anthing else relating to it? Or can you do this after you root?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI discovered this new feature today... well, actually I should give credit to my son, who got his hero about 3 weeks ago for finding this.
Pressing on the contact's picture in the people list pops a little menu that allows you to easily choose whether to call or text them. It even provides the Handcent icon if you are using that as your main messaging app!
Just thought I would share this finding, in case I wasn't the only one who didn't know about it!
When my phone is on for a while, the screen times out (Screen Time Out - depending upon settings). If I hit the red button on the right, the screen lights up, but I'm not yet at the Scene pages. I have to "Slide down" to get to main scene desktop. If I have my Security set to require a pattern, I will have to enter a pattern. For purposes of this question - assume there is No Security Pattern set. Hence, the slide down goes directly to the Scene desktop.
Screen Timeout
Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout -->
Various options including:
* 15-seconds
* 30-seconds
* 1 minute
* 2 minutes
* 10 minutes
* Never Timeout
If I set the Screen Timeout to 1 minute, it'll go dim, and when I hit the red button, it will require the Slide Down to get to the Scene Desktop. If I set the Screen Timeout to "Never timeout", it'll never go dim, but this will use more battery power. Once the Screen is Timed Out, it requires the Slide-Down feature to get to the desktop. When receiving an incoming call, the Slide-Down feature is required to answer the call when the phone is Timed Out.
Question
Is it possible to avoid this Slide Down altogether? It seems the only way to do this is to set the Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout --> Never timeout
I don't want to use "Never timeout" because this will use more battery power.I find it annoying when I receive an incoming call, if the screen is Timed Out, I am required to use the Slide Down menu to answer the call. Problem is, the moment I do this, it answers the call. There is no: Answer / Decline option available unless the screen is in non-Timed Out mode. I want to be able to answer my phone and completely avoid having to deal with this Slide-Down feature when answering incoming calls. I don't even see the picture of the person in my contact until I slide this down. It would be nice if I could avoid the Slide-down altogether. I would like to have it set such that when the phone rings, I can get immediately to the Answer / Decline option.
The official 2.1 is finally here! I have been trying to get a confirmed feature list for the 2.1 update and I haven't been able to find one specific to the hero. I know there is some variation between our update and the 2.1 running on the nexus one. I want to make sure to utilize all of the new bells and whistles that come with the update but I can't find a complete list. Any help would be great. so when will the "When is 2.2 gonna come to the hero?

View 12 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.
I have a rooted hero on sprint with unlimited data but I found out that o can tether my xbox but , I worry now Sprint may catch on to my tethering and may surprise me with a high bill since I haven't paid for mobile hotspot Not that I wouldn't but it is not available with my phone . So should I worry ?

Google Voice & Sprint... 11/08/09 Inside Sprint Now. I've read tons of forums, discussions, web sites, and there's a lot of conflicting information and some Sprint reps are getting confused on this, it's new.
However, here's my general understanding:.................
Is anyone else interested in how Google voice will affect calling minutes? If you currently have your GV number set to call your Sprint cell and your incoming call is from another cell phone will you be charged for the minutes? If you setup your phone so GV is used to call all numbers that you dial will you be charged for calling other cellular number because GV masks the number? I have been through every level of support that Sprint offers and no one can answer me. Sadly tier 3 technical support told me "Google Voice is useless on a cell phone and you would not want to use this anyway". I had nothing more to say after that!
