HTC Hero :: Sending Text - 9230 - Message Sent Using Invalid Number Of Digits
Jan 6, 2010Whenever I text only a few specific people I get a message saying
9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. Msg 2114
All of my contacts numbers and in 10 digits example: 123 - 456 - 7890 this only happens with certain contacts but I don't see what the issue is. Does anyone else get this issue or know how to fix it?

May 28, 2010i've tried out all the radios to test out which is the best for me..and i devided on the one that was based off the verizon radio..so i got an error message saying "You must be a Sprint Customer to use this feature" so i changed to the newest radio out 2.42.01.04.27 and i still get the same issue..what could it be?

Mar 11, 2010So i have had the Moment (on Sprint) for a while now, and there is one problem i can't seem to fix. The phone seems to constantly drop the area code off of ALMOST all messages I recieve from just one specific contact. So when I go to reply to that person, i get a 9230 error (not using a ten digit number) and i have to go to my contacts screen and choose to send a new message from there. Anyone have any ideas to fix? I have tried clearing the cache and using a different SMS software, all with the same problem.

Oct 26, 2009I recieved an error two days ago saying "out of disk space". After restoring my phone to factory the ability to receive MMS/SMS went kaput! Surprisingly I can send but not receive messages. I was on the phone with Sprint for hours with to technicians. One of the techs implied that some of the early batch of phones from Best Buy have this issue. This is just one of the techs viewpoint. I am going to swap the phone today and see if it resolves the issue. I switched to Sprint specifically for TEXT so this could be a deal breaker. More to follow.

They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?

"com.android.mms A large number of text SMS messages are being sent. Select 'ok' to send"
So.....I did send out 100+ messages within like 5 minutes...just sending out a mass txt message letting people know of my new number. So is this Androids way of anti-spam?
I need a way to turn it off, because now I have to make this extra step every single time i send a text message

Sprint HTC Hero :: Google Sign In Error
May 5, 2010I've had my Sprint Hero for around 4 months now, it is not rooted, running stock 1.5.I was trying to check the marketplace for any updates to my apps and it brought me to the set up google account screen.I've tried signing in and It tells me that there was an error on sign in and my SIM card might not be provisioned for data. Obviously as a Sprint customer I don't have a SIM card, is there anything I can do to get things working again?

Apr 9, 2010I just got my Hero two days ago. I was told to make sure there were to firmware or PRL updates. The Firmware said it was up to date. I tried the PRL update this morning and it said it could not be done now to try later. If problem persists contact Sprint. Error code 1012. I am not sure what PRL even is and does this sound like a problem on Sprint's end or my phone? Sorry for the dumb question, I am new to all this technology.

May 10, 2010I am having a problem with my voicemail, not sure if it is related to my phone or not.
If my phone rings, and I ignore or miss the call, the caller will hear a recorded voice say "The number or code you have entered is incorrect, please check the number or code and try again. Message 7, Switch .."
BUT, if the phone never rings (like it cannot connect b/c of no service or in data and call never comes thru) then the caller is forwarded to my voicemail, can leave a message, and it comes thru on visual voicemail.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the voicemail app, no such luck. I think this may be a Sprint-side problem.

Mar 3, 2010I recently got a htc hero and I am very impressed with the phone and the os as a whole but I am having one small issue. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and when I go to pair them I get an error that says "There was a problem connecting to NS-BTHDP." (ns-bthdp == headphone name). The weird thing is, the phone says its connect to phone audio, even though I never entered in the passcode. So I go and try to listen to music/podcasts and it plays through the speak phone.. but if I go to make a phone call it goes through the headset.I have no idea what the problem is, as these worked fine on my old gen2 ipod touch.Does the hero have limited bluetooth connectivity, or are the headphones not compatible? I would like to know more about the error, does android os have an error log that I can look at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

May 24, 2010So, I've been having random problems with my phone for a few months now. Nothing debilitating, but enough to cause a hassle. I took it into sprint to see if I could get a refurb or something, and when the tech opened it up, she noticed the water damage indicator was red. Now, not only do I know for sure the phone has never faced water damage, but the sticker on the battery is still in tact. I am one of many who suffer from dust under the cover, so I know that if dust can leak in, moisture would seep in even easier. I looked on ebay to find stickers that I could just replace, but couldn't find anything with the same design/size. Regardless, the Sprint store said there was nothing they could do. Is it worth calling their CS? In all actuality, I'd love it if Sprint would just allow me to upgrade to the Evo with their discount, but i'm sure that's not likely.
