Downloaded from the market an app called Covedesign Dev. You can turn the track ball led on and off... different from the bottons on and off... Seems cool and I like that someone was able to do this... now we just need someone to integrate that into notification options...

My trackball is getting dirty and its noticeable when the light is on. Is there any way I can turn off the light permanently? Maybe an app? Anything?

Whenever i get a notification my track ball flashes, and wont stop flashing after i check the notification, until i put the phone to sleep. I am using handcent, and in the notification settings i cant access the trackball flashing setting, its dark and unable to be clicked.

I just got my Hero a few days ago, previously I had an Instinct. So far I love the Hero, but one of my few complaints about it is having to take pictures by pressing the trackball. The trackball just feels odd to press and most of the time I have to press it multiple times for it to take a photo. Anyone have any solutions to this? I doubt there is a way to change this in the settings, but is there an app or something that uses a more convenient button for photos?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my hero over the weekend and maybe I just didn't notice it until now. The bottom button/trackball plate seems to have a little looseness or play in it. If I push it left/right or up/down it moves a slight amount. It doesn't feel like it would pop off but its something I just noticed today. Or do I have to take it in to sprint for a replacement?

When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.

After I tune in to a station that I like and leave my phone, I will notice that my music has stopped playing. But, (sometimes) when I come back to my phone, the music will start back up. Then again, more times than none, when I come back to the phone, the program has stopped responding and I will have to restart the entire program.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed Handcent because of the battery drain issue, and like it a lot, but now I cannot turn off the OEM Messages program. I tried going into the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications to turn it off, and it doesn't work. I also did the "Use Handcent as default SMS" when that box first pops up. I get two different ringtone notifications too. Although I switched the ringer to the same one both through the phone's settings and through Handcent's settings.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a new HTC Hero (running new firmware) and all is fine except for one query regarding the trackball sensitivity.Basically it seems way-too sensitive for me, I find that the slightest touch moves it. For example it's very easy to over-shoot scrolling down a web page with multiple links and select the wrong one.I don't know if this is a feature or a fault since I have no other Hero to compare it with. (May be I have fat fingers!)Also I few (rare) times either the trackball has "moved itself" or something else weird has happend because I've seen the centre homescreen move on its own to the right... Which again makes me wonder whether there an issue with the trackball.
