I am kind of new to the Hero community came from palm pre, is there a setting for the trackball to light up when i get or miss calls, MMS, gchat? If yes where do I go to enable it.

I want my hero to do something. Can the trackball light up or anything with notifications?
Can I change the LED colors? the pattern? Something!? I know that i can flip it over to silence it.
I am just wondering what would make the trackball light blueish? Even the menu and search icon looks blue.

Is there a way or an app that shuts off the lights to the hardbuttons/trackball?
This is especially necessary in the day time when i can see the buttons, i don't need them illuminated.
When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.
has anyone else updated and sees there trackall and button lights staying on AS LONG AS SCREEN IS ON? i cannot turn this off and its annoying during video playback
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn the Nexus One (at least in 2.1-update1, and I think in 2.1), there is a setting under Sound & Display: "Pulse notification light". This doesn't seem to be present on the "2.1 with Google APIs" emulator image. I've not yet checked any other devices. I want to set this programmatically without user interaction, in order to make a Locale plugin, so the device can grab my attention when I'm awake at my desk, without having it floodlighting the room when someone spams me at 4am. It's quite bright.
I didn't see it in android.provider.Settings.System where many other things on this screen live, so I had a look in the platform source. There are some relevant parts in NotificationManagerService, in enqueueNotificationWithTag and updateLightsLocked. That goes off into HardwareService which seems well past the point of caring about user settings. I've no idea where this setting is implemented or how I might influence it. I fully expect the answer to be "there is no API for this" (perhaps related to it being Nexus One specific), and that the best I can do is to schedule (using Locale or something else) an Intent of ACTION_DISPLAY_SETTINGS to remind me to set the box manually, which would suck. I'm hoping that I've missed something, or that a Googler is reading this and can tell me that this is planned for addition to the API?
I have a question about handcent sms application. Whenever I get sms via standard message program, my trackball lights up. However, when I'm using handcent sms notification, it would not light up. I have turned the trackball light on in the settings, but it does not work. Does anyone else have this problem?

I just got this thing a week ago and was beginning to wonder why I hadn't gotten a voicemail in that long since I don't answer every call. Well last night I discovered that I had a bunch of them but it's not letting me know. I did the setup like it instructed when I got the phone. On the HTC HERO handsend there is a setting for LED. I picked a different color to blink when I get a message but the green default light still blinks. If u look on the ear piece of the phone it looks like there is another light on the right of it. Do anyone know anything about changing the settings for this?

Whenever i get a notification my track ball flashes, and wont stop flashing after i check the notification, until i put the phone to sleep. I am using handcent, and in the notification settings i cant access the trackball flashing setting, its dark and unable to be clicked.

So far I love the Hero, but one of my few complaints about it is having to take pictures by pressing the trackball. The trackball just feels odd to press and most of the time I have to press it multiple times for it to take a photo. Anyone have any solutions to this? I doubt there is a way to change this in the settings, but is there an app or something that uses a more convenient button for photos?

The onTouchEvent works perfectly well in the View to move the Sprite with my finger but it would be nicer and cleaner to use the trackball.Can anyone provide me with a simple example that uses the trackball to move something in a View in a 2D type game world (not a menu or UI type of example)? But this is being called for very small float values (I believe for each rotation?) of the trackball.Now as X and Y positions of views should be integers when specifying with LayoutParams, it makes no sense to move the view with every rotation. Instead I want to move the view only after the user stops rotating the trackball.Is there any method by which we can get whether the user stopped using the trackball or not?

I don't have bluetooth on and have been using 2.2 build frf83 for about a week and yesterday while watching tv i noticed the change. Has anyone else encountered this problem. oh yeah if the phone rings then it starts flashing white but after i hang up it will return to the constant blue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my hero over the weekend and maybe I just didn't notice it until now. The bottom button/trackball plate seems to have a little looseness or play in it. If I push it left/right or up/down it moves a slight amount. It doesn't feel like it would pop off but its something I just noticed today. Or do I have to take it in to sprint for a replacement?
