Sep 19, 2010Using the latest CM6 RC1 stable release. Whenever i get a notification my track ball flashes, and wont stop flashing after i check the notification, until i put the phone to sleep. I am using handcent, and in the notification settings i cant access the trackball flashing setting, its dark and unable to be clicked.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Taking Picture Using Trackball
Apr 7, 2010I just got my Hero a few days ago, previously I had an Instinct. So far I love the Hero, but one of my few complaints about it is having to take pictures by pressing the trackball. The trackball just feels odd to press and most of the time I have to press it multiple times for it to take a photo. Anyone have any solutions to this? I doubt there is a way to change this in the settings, but is there an app or something that uses a more convenient button for photos?

Apr 8, 2010Downloaded from the market an app called Covedesign Dev. You can turn the track ball led on and off... different from the bottons on and off... Seems cool and I like that someone was able to do this... now we just need someone to integrate that into notification options...

Feb 9, 2010I just got my hero over the weekend and maybe I just didn't notice it until now. The bottom button/trackball plate seems to have a little looseness or play in it. If I push it left/right or up/down it moves a slight amount. It doesn't feel like it would pop off but its something I just noticed today. Or do I have to take it in to sprint for a replacement?

Dec 22, 2009I find this extremely annoying that at night when I am using the scroll ball that the thing keeps lighting up, and then shutting off, lighting up..etc.
Is there a way or an app that shuts off the lights to the hardbuttons/trackball?
This is especially necessary in the day time when i can see the buttons, i don't need them illuminated.
When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.

When browsing certain web page with CGI form, browser doesnt respond to trackball click event unless we play around the UI ormove cursor around or switch between application. However, tocuh screen works all the time. I can't give an example of problem making web site yet. Just wodering is it an isolated case to me.

It was working fine today; later on, however, I had suddenly noticed that whenever I touch various buttons, icons, widgets, etc. on the screen, there was no audible sound. I tried rebooting, but that did not help at all. Also tried unchecking & checking the Audible Selection box, problem still remained.

Mar 5, 2009I have a list activity that creates a header row above the data rows from the adapter. I want to receive click events when the user selects the header or a data row (but my data rows have check boxes in them, so this part is tricky). When I use the touch screen, I get this expected behavior:
1. Tapping on any row causes a click event and a dialog appears.
2. Long-pressing on a data row causes a context menu to appear.
3. Long-pressing on the header row does *not* show the context menu.
However, when I use the arrow keys (emulator) or trackball (G1), I get this unexpected behavior:
1. Selecting any row fails to cause any click events, even though the row's appearance changes like it's being clicked.
2. Long-pressing on the header row *does* show the context menu, which I don't want.
3. Occasionally, it doesn't focus the correct row when I move up or down (e.g. it skips from the header to the last data row).

Feb 7, 2010Im trying to root my hero using pre kitchen but its not going threw i run the diagnostics text before you root everything checks out good. I have tried to root by having checked the box (with google) and tried it by not checking it. When my phone reboots i get the exclamation mark with a little phone on it. Everything seems to be running good except for this part# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img error opening /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img: No such file or directory can this be the problem? If so, how can i fix it?

Nov 17, 2010I just received an MP4 video that plays really well on my Hero. But it is not visible in the photo gallery of my phone. It's grayed out. When I go into my SD card with a file manager and click on it the movie will play perfectly but it won't play though the photo gallery manager.My real issue is that I have to go into a file manager to find the file and play it instead of using a widget to call up a program that will play it. There is obviously something in the phone that can handle the MP4 format and I just need to know what program to use.

HTC Hero :: Trackball Has Moved Itself
Oct 1, 2009I have a new HTC Hero (running new firmware) and all is fine except for one query regarding the trackball sensitivity.Basically it seems way-too sensitive for me, I find that the slightest touch moves it. For example it's very easy to over-shoot scrolling down a web page with multiple links and select the wrong one.I don't know if this is a feature or a fault since I have no other Hero to compare it with. (May be I have fat fingers!)Also I few (rare) times either the trackball has "moved itself" or something else weird has happend because I've seen the centre homescreen move on its own to the right... Which again makes me wonder whether there an issue with the trackball.
