Just curious to see what programs people are using to create wallpapers for the Hero. I'm using a program called Android Converter. It's a music, video, and wallpaper converter in one. I guess it gets the job done as far as making wallpapers go, but you lose a lot of image quality in the process. So what's the Android forums advice on a program to use?

I am asking cause i have 5.3, the OTA updater will not download the updates at all, its telling me that it cant be downloaded at this time~ it will only allow me to download 5.4 which i don't want. now cause the instructions tell you to flash the fix right after flashing the rom will it still work for me? really wanna try out one of these wallpapers ive downloaded.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to the sprint 2.1 (vers 5, not 6), & im rooted, & im trying to clean up the phone to save space, so does anybody know where the "wallpaper & lock screen" images/files are stored at, so i can delete them since i use my own wallpapers. also, off topic, but when i get an email, & i check it & delete it, the email widget still shows a #, indicating that i still have unread emails.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I rooted my phone to Fresh 2.0D and learned how to do the Live Wallpapers hack as well, I have enjoyed my phone so much that I am changing my mind about getting the EVO. I am one of those geeks that has to have all the newest toys but since I've rooted and installed a custom Rom I find myself comparing my phone to the EVO and slowly realizing that my phone can be just as good. It really was the tethering thing that changed my mind. I think I will get the EVO once someone has learned to root it and do amazing things with it but until then, I am keeping the Hero. I truly love this phone.

I read somewhere that there is a zip file you can put on your phone and it "unlocks" the live wallpapers as an option. It was somewhere on these forums be it moment, eris, or hero. I would assume if it was on another phones page the concept would be the same. Any info on this my fellow Hero comrades?

I do realize there are roms out there that do this but I have a lot of time invested in tweaking the stock rom and it works excellent for my needs. I just want to rock the Super Mario live wallpaper!

You can basically make any wallpaper look like it is submerged in water.Anyway, the only problem is that it only takes images that are sized perfectly to fit in "portrait" mode on your EVO. I will use larger images, but squish them to fit.I am looking for a wallpaper editing program that will take my normal EVO wallpapers are create these "portrait" sized versions for me. Whenever I try to use it, it doesn't show my route like where I'm going. It looks like just a black screen in the middle and the voice doesn't work.

After I tune in to a station that I like and leave my phone, I will notice that my music has stopped playing. But, (sometimes) when I come back to my phone, the music will start back up. Then again, more times than none, when I come back to the phone, the program has stopped responding and I will have to restart the entire program.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed Handcent because of the battery drain issue, and like it a lot, but now I cannot turn off the OEM Messages program. I tried going into the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications to turn it off, and it doesn't work. I also did the "Use Handcent as default SMS" when that box first pops up. I get two different ringtone notifications too. Although I switched the ringer to the same one both through the phone's settings and through Handcent's settings.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, I was playing with my phone today and I might have made it a faster in a few minutes. This is what I did Home - Menu -settings - Applications - Manage Applications. In this menu it shows how much memory each program is using (?), not really sure, but if you click on the program you can clear out the cache and also clear the data of the program. I cleared out all of the data and cache from the programs that I dont use (sprint TV, NFL crap, footprints, etc...). It seems like its running faster, might help for people that have been using the phone for a long time and have a build up of data just sitting there doing nothing? Let me know if this works for anyone else!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know there are plenty of Apps that can do this for you, but I enjoy putting my own content on the phones without having to go through a 3rd party, no offense to those Flickie devs But I use to use this method for my iPhone 3G and it's even easier to accomplish on your DX.The only requirement is you must have photo editing software to do this effectively. Something like Photoshop or GIMP (which is a free alternative). Both PS and GIMP work in a very similar way, so the steps should be the same, but I'll be talking from a PS perspective.
1. Open PS and start a new image with the dimensions 960x854 and a color mode of RGB 8-bit.
2. Save these settings as a preset called "Droid X Wallpaper" or simply save the PSD file as "template.psd" and load that up everytime.
3. Search the vast ocean of images on the internet or use your own and place it in the template we've just created. Resize the image so it fits the entire template, but do try to maintain the dimensions. The last thing you want is a squashed picture as your background on such a beautiful device!
4. Now click save-as and save your new wallpaper as a .png file somewhere. I find png's offer the best clarity and look really crisp on the DX as opposed to JPEGs. But this also is very dependent on the original image and how much degredation was suffered during the resizing!
5. Plug your DX into your computer and switch it to the USB mode so you can access the SD card. On the main directory create a new folder and call this "Wallpapers". Place all your created wallpapers here.
6. Eject the SD card go into your DX. In your Gallery app, you now should see your newly created Wallpapers folder unter the title...well, folders!
7. Open the folder in Gallery, find the picture you want as your wallpaper, long press the picture until a menu pops up and choose "set as" and then select wallpaper. Resize the box so it fits the ENTIRE picture and save.
8. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and drink plenty of Tang.
