I want to change my rom and backup my apps before I do so but EVERY app i've tried for this does not work. I've tried titanium, my apps, and astro... they all failed to back up my stuff. Any suggestions? do I even need to back them up or will they survive the flash?

Just wondering if any apps I have installed now might stop working on 2.1. Or is pretty much everything backward compatible with no updates required?

I read some things in a search about GPS working overseas, but my question is more on the lines of other apps. Such as translator, Where, text to speak, weather. Basically Im going to Italy soon and want to know if any of these things will work while Im over there to help me along and not be charge some extra fee. I dont plan to make any calls with it.

For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.
using the pre-kitchen, i must have accidently deleted Sprint TV. how do i get it back now? Thanks.

NOTE- I already tried ~Settings>Applications>Browser and then click the button Clear Cache and Clear Data then reboot your phone.~

Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
The GF says my EVO is too big, and I now got her off her BB and into a hero. So, I will be popping in here and there and wanted to say hi.First steps:
I'm going to let her play with it for the weekend.I'm going to root it.I'll set up apps and such.I will probably look at froyo for it. I am pretty sure it won't get as much work as my EVO.
Tho it seems the update did fix the problem with the native app, Handcent is still the way to go, at least for me. Seems the native app can't handle more than a 1 meg pic file and since I often include a pic in a text, taken from the Hero its of no use to me. Handcent will reduce the pic file automatically which is a nice feature. Also I refuse to lower the setting from the Hero just to accommodate the native app. Just my thought on that issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI dunno if I was the only one who thought this way, but the kb on the hero that we used before we got an its from Sprint (that fixed msg app) worked fantastically. I remember literally doing my HW online with that kb. Was just wondering if devs ever considered using that kb with 2.1 builds. I'm sure our kb's can be better than what it is (laggy).

So I usually have to manually copy album Pics from the net and paste them in the info section. However my hero either doesn't show the artwork or replaces my pic with some other random artwork pic. Anyone experience this and know how to fix this?

Is the reason why it wont work because im rooted(using fresh 2.0)?
when i download ringtones they come in as .dm files. how do i get them to work. i used to just go to the Internet and get them from the download history, but i lost all that when i ruled my phone. i have astro but can not play them from my card, so i can not add them as ringtones.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got back from having my headset speaker replaced (i think it blew) and when i got my phone back, the back cover is really loose. I pointed this out and they offered to put a new cover on. The new cover did the same thing and they said that it must have been like that when they got it in. I saw the guy struggle to take the cover off when he went to pull the battery and check water spot. Does anyone else have this problem and how do i fix it. It takes absolutely no effort what so ever to take the cover off now. The slightest bump or slide and its off.
