Sprint HTC Hero :: List Of Apps Require Droid 2.1 To Run (apps Like Google Goggles)?

May 21, 2010

Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.

Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.

Sprint HTC Hero :: None Of Apps That Require Root Working

Apr 29, 2010

I rooted my phone and have Damage 2.07.2 running, I am attempting to install Wireless Tether, however something seems off about my Superuser Permissions Application, upon Wireless Tether starting I have Superuser Permissions App come up but the screen on the App is blank, I wait a moment and then have to wait or force close. Sprint HTC Hero :: Remove - Delete / Uninstall Pre-installed Programs - Apps - Or Sprint Apps

Nov 7, 2009

Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?

For example, the following programs were pre-installed:

Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter

And maybe some others.

I've just tried:

Settings | Applications | Manage Apps

And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.

Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?

Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?

Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar

Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?

A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Why Are All Google Native Apps Only For OS 2.0 And Up?

Apr 11, 2010

Is it just me, or is it weird to anyone else that more than half the apps Google itself releases for Android leaves us 1.5 users high and dry? It would seem that if anyone would empathize with us poor schmucks who got suckered into buying a phone whose OS went obsolete in 3 weeks Google would. Seems like when I view all the apps Google has for Android every other app I search for comes up nill on my Hero.

Sprint HTC Hero :: EAS/google Apps - 2 To 1 Acct

Nov 1, 2009

I've gotten our company staff to be able to see and modify eachother's calendars within our google apps accounts. but.. we're having trouble making it so we can see company contacts (ie - customers) would love it if we could get one person to take a call, enter in the contacts info and then assign a tech to the service call and he can see it in his android phone. we've created a generic [company_name]@gmail.com google apps account - one person can connect/login to it (me! of course!haha) but can't get a second person to do the same. do you think google is doing this on purpose? not allowing a second android device to login?

I am under the impression that android apps can require other apps to be installed in other to operate. The main example I know is the zxing barCode scanner app, which gets used by a number of other apps. The zxing barcode app is free, but I was wondering what would happen if it wasn't?In particular, what would the user experience be like? How would they be notified, if at all, about the paid app requirement?

Android :: List Of Google Apps In Market

Oct 6, 2010

1st post, I picked up my EVO on Monday after having 3 different models of the iPhone since 2007. I am really loving android and how versatile it is. One thing I can't seem to find so far is a list of everything Google offers in the Market - apps, widgets, etc. Searching "Google, Inc." in the Market will bring a lot of non Google apps in between and it doesn't seem to load Google's apps first. Is their a website that has a definitive list of Google, Inc.'s offerings in the Market?

Dec 8, 2009

This is becoming a routine. A new great app is coming out for Android, but is does not support 1.5. Even Google itself does not support this version since it is too old. I am sick of this, it seems HTC does not think it's urgent to take care of its customers. We should get 2.0 already!!! HTC, today's smart phones are measured in cool apps. You want to beat the IPhone, start moving your people and create this d*$m update.

General :: Apps That Require Permissions Not Needed For Task

Feb 20, 2013

I didnt have a smartphone for a while and i just got a shining new nexus 4.

I want to installs all the apps out there but i realise many of them require permissions that (i think) are not actually needed by the app to do whatever it needs to do..

For example i want to install power toggles it asks to use my camera... cant the flashlight be turned on without allowing the camera to be used?

Anyways, i realise that apps that sometimes do the exact same things require different permissions, hence... ?

So main question is: is the permission to use the camera really required by an app that turns on the led?

Android : Open ID For Apps That Require Sign In / Supporting Framework?

Jul 25, 2010

I am a fresh developer on Googles Android Platform - my HTC Desire arrived last week. Now i need a way to sign in to my existing application (Java, currently running on jetty). The server Application is developed using spring security 3.0.2

In my case, i want to support the following: If a user has set up his Android phone with a googlemail/google-Account (and most users do) i want to use this account credentials to automagically log in to my server app.

Is there any Android framework supporting that use-case? Or are there any alternatives? I read: http code.google.com intl/de-DE/apis/accounts/docs/OpenID.html

How we do sign in with an app on google AppEnging is described here: http://blog.notdot.net/2010/05/Authenticating-against-App-Engine-from-an-Android-app
