My htc hero just started to act up with incoming calls. I hear the phone rings but the screen remains blank for a seconds before the caller's ID shows up. Can anyone help? Its annoying when the phones rings but cant pick up until the caller ID shows up much later.

And then it hangs up before I can answer it.What's with that? I can't see a setting to change how long the bloody thing rings for, either.I have a song from the sd card set as my ringtone, but it's about two minutes long so it can't be that.

It appears that the Hero does not have a proximity sensor so the screen stays active during a call and I am always touching it with my face which hangs up or launches something etc.

On my old phone, the ringer would have a secondish between rings. Now my Hero just rings rings rings with no pause inbetween rings. Is there anyway to put a slight pause inbetween rings??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI own a hero on orange with the latest orange firmware. Over the past couple of days I've been having a few problems, mainly with my messengers from what I can see. Sometimes when using ebuddy or meebo, my phone's screen will go to standby (blank) as normal but will not wake up or do any functions. I have to take the battery out of the phone and reboot. I tried re-flashing the firmware just incase but it still does it. I'm trying out hi msn to see if that is any better. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and also does it sound like a firmware issue?

Then I try and type a reply and it is so frustratingly slow, lagging behind. Any tips please? I have been so close to throwing it out of the window!

Following from here I cannot get past the boot screen, it switches on, but stays blank and does not do anything else. I have tried to re-install / repair through SE US (PC Companion does not work in this case) to flash it once again, and also that did not help. It keeps telling me that everything is fine, and I should just switch on my mobile phone.

My phone would be in my pocket, but if I were to take it out and check my mail, the screen would be blank. I would see the wallpaper and the 3 icons on the bottom of the screen (phone, application drawer, and contacts). It'd lag for a bit before things show up. When I say lag, I mean a pretty significant lag.

The buttons on the bottom of the phone will light on and off when pressing the power button. What am i suppose to do in this situation or any other situation where my Droid isnt acting right? Well, i didnt know what to do so i just took out the battery and put it back in. I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it. I hope my phone will be okay after that. So, whats the right way of going at it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI found a few threads about this in the European HTC Hero section.I also saw someone posted the question in Sprint's thread, however I can't find it through the search function.Does anyone know of an app or any way to turn the screen off while making a call.I know it automatically times out and turns the screen off, but I have hit the end call button too many times now.Hopefully there is a fix out or in the works for this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIf I let my phone sleep long enough to go into a "deep sleep" it is very slow after I unlock it. For example, my phone has been in my pocket for a half of an hour and then I get a new text message. I turn on the screen, and slide to unlock, but I can't pull down the notification bar for about 10 seconds or so, I have to wait for the analog clock to set the right time (which it lags through) and then it's fine after that. I don't have this problem if I lock it then unlock it right away.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently tried flashing Demagless 2.0.8 and now my phone is stuck on the HTC Black logo screen while the phone is starting up I have done a clean wipe and reflashed demageless 2.0.7.2 and also fresh 2d but now I get the same problem previously I've had fresh 2d installed and worked perfectly fine. I can still access my root but no matter what rom I flash it won't start up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'll be on my phone browsing through the net, on my apps etc. Then once I get back to my home screen all of a sudden my screen freezes and the "HTC screen" pops up (same screen when you reboot your phone) and then I will have to wait a minute or two for everything to load up again. I've had my hero since January and this problem recently just began last week. It happens quite often and it's really irritating. I always clear my cache/data/history. View 1 Replies View RelatedAlmost every day when I wake up I check my phone and 9 times out of 10 the touch screen does not work. I cannot make a call or check anything. I have to push a lot of buttons and take out the battery and generally wait a while before my expensive phone to start to work. Is there a fix for this? I've already had to go to sprit to do a hard reset because the phone got, "kicked off the network" for some reason the sprint people could not explain. Any solution for the screen issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter using Fresh's 2.0d for the last month, I decided to try DC 2.08. I did a Titanium Backup, copied 2.08 to the SD, wiped the phone and the dalvik and installed from the SD card. After the installation, the phone boots up but is stuck on the HTC logo screen (the white background that says "quietly brilliant"). It looks like it is looping as it shows the sprint screen every few minutes before going back to the HTC screen. I've tried wiping and reinstalling, but I am getting the same result.
FWIW, I root using Fresh Kitchen's auto-root if that matters.
Any suggestions? Should I try to flash Fresh's 2.1.2?
I just go my Sprint Hero on Sunday and it rocks! What's the must have Apps? Music? Sirius satellite radio? Photo�s? Also, my screen sometimes doesn't turn when I move the phone horizontally.
View 49 Replies View RelatedHad the Hero for 3 weeks now, and love it. Much nicer than the IPhone Just one issue I have had with it. When someone phones, I tend to only have about 2 rings to answer it before it goes to voicemail. When I tested trying to phone it myself from another phone, it rang 3 times on the phone I was rinigng it from before my Hero made any sign of life. On the 4th ring the LED started flashing and on the 5th ring it started making a noise. By th 7th ring the voicemail had kicked in.Why does it take 3 rings before the phone starts doing something?It seems like its the software just taking a moment to work out whats going on. I'm running the latest ROM however it was the same on the older one too.
