In the midst of this crappy day, I dropped my Hero and cracked the outer screen. Where can I buy a new casing to replace the one I just broke? I've searched around but have found virtually no places that sell a basic faceplate.

I have noticed that the bottom of my screen seems to stick up a bit above the phone casing and the hotkey lights glow through the seam as well.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMorning, I dropped my HTC Hero yesterday, and although it has a tough silicon case on it unfortunately the screen has cracked top right. At first I thought it was a hair on my screen, but hairs normally blow away So you can get an idea of how thin this crack it. It goes from top left to center left.
While this doesn't seem to have had any impact on the use of the phone (for example, touch sensitivity still works in that area and the screen is perfectly usable) I'd like to replace it.
Now this phone is under a business contract account with Orange UK, but if my employer doesn't have insurance for it what options are there to replace it? I've seen there are 2 parts, the actual LCD screen and then the touch overlay on the top. I don't believe the LCD screen is damaged since it would be far worse, it just looks like the glass has cracked. Can this be replaced?
I've purchased new black casing for my hero, but not sure how to remove the old one? I've undone the 6 screws and removed the middle section. Now have the front (screen, buttons etc) with lots of chips etc stuck to the back.

Luckily Verizon will replace it for me under insurance (after paying my deductible). However before I send back the old phone I want to get my old pictures and texts off it. Is that possible?
The phone itself is working (lower soft keys light up, I can feel haptic feedback, etc). NOTHING appears on the screen however. When I plug my USB cable in, I get a sound on my PC indicating a USB device is plugged in, but since I can't see the phone screen, I can't mount the device via the notifications menu.
I gave my son a Samsung Moment for Christmas and before the day was though he dropped it and cracked the screen? The phone works fine. What is the best way for me to get this screen fixed. Just call Sprint or take it back to Best Buy. Any idea what the cost is for that kind of a repair?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy screen fell on a hard concrete floor and cracked, but i felt lucky because i thought its just the bottom 1/10th part of the phone broke.. Its a Nexus 4 I cant press the Back, Home, and the switch app soft buttons and also i cant press probably a few other pixels (I cant type SMS because i cant click on the bottom row and so keyboard wont appear).I think there should be some setting somewhere to fool around android to say that my screen size = 9/10th of the current screen size (the bottom 1/10th of the screen should be blank.) If there is any such app or any setting in any custom ROM. Tried google, cant seem to find the proper keywords.

I found a few threads about this in the European HTC Hero section.I also saw someone posted the question in Sprint's thread, however I can't find it through the search function.Does anyone know of an app or any way to turn the screen off while making a call.I know it automatically times out and turns the screen off, but I have hit the end call button too many times now.Hopefully there is a fix out or in the works for this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIf I let my phone sleep long enough to go into a "deep sleep" it is very slow after I unlock it. For example, my phone has been in my pocket for a half of an hour and then I get a new text message. I turn on the screen, and slide to unlock, but I can't pull down the notification bar for about 10 seconds or so, I have to wait for the analog clock to set the right time (which it lags through) and then it's fine after that. I don't have this problem if I lock it then unlock it right away.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently tried flashing Demagless 2.0.8 and now my phone is stuck on the HTC Black logo screen while the phone is starting up I have done a clean wipe and reflashed demageless 2.0.7.2 and also fresh 2d but now I get the same problem previously I've had fresh 2d installed and worked perfectly fine. I can still access my root but no matter what rom I flash it won't start up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'll be on my phone browsing through the net, on my apps etc. Then once I get back to my home screen all of a sudden my screen freezes and the "HTC screen" pops up (same screen when you reboot your phone) and then I will have to wait a minute or two for everything to load up again. I've had my hero since January and this problem recently just began last week. It happens quite often and it's really irritating. I always clear my cache/data/history. Could it perhaps be some of the applications I downloaded from the market causing this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlmost every day when I wake up I check my phone and 9 times out of 10 the touch screen does not work. I cannot make a call or check anything. I have to push a lot of buttons and take out the battery and generally wait a while before my expensive phone to start to work. Is there a fix for this? I've already had to go to sprit to do a hard reset because the phone got, "kicked off the network" for some reason the sprint people could not explain. Any solution for the screen issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter using Fresh's 2.0d for the last month, I decided to try DC 2.08. I did a Titanium Backup, copied 2.08 to the SD, wiped the phone and the dalvik and installed from the SD card. After the installation, the phone boots up but is stuck on the HTC logo screen (the white background that says "quietly brilliant"). It looks like it is looping as it shows the sprint screen every few minutes before going back to the HTC screen. I've tried wiping and reinstalling, but I am getting the same result.
FWIW, I root using Fresh Kitchen's auto-root if that matters.
Any suggestions? Should I try to flash Fresh's 2.1.2?

Phone was never dropped and always kept in the bodyglove case! Have no idea how I got there and verizon wants me to file a claim and won't warranty it !It appears to be a stress crack from where the hole is in the glass to allow the optical button to be Installed.

The phone still works but I'm kinda screwed at the moment. I got Wirelesszone insurance and left asurion cause they told me it was cheaper, covers water dmg etc.. They didn't tell me is there is 30 day waiting period and i got the phone may 5th. I been looking online to see if i can find a new glasstop and replace it myself but i only found 1 on ebay for $125 and takes 2 weeks to arrive from China. I can wait until my 30 day waiting period and make a claim and pay $75 deductible, but I really don't want to have a shattered screen for 2 more weeks.

Well the glass screen shattered and I was curious if there is anywhere I can get a replacement for it yet? Incase anyone is curious about the drop it occured from less than 2 feet off the ground. I was in a booth when she handed me the phone and she let go of it before my hand was near. The top left corner was where the impact first hit, and is where the majority of the screen is cracked.
