Sprint HTC Hero :: Video Taken On Phone Won't Play On PC
May 27, 2010I take videos on the HTC Hero, connect the phone to PC, then drag videos from phone to desktop. They come out as .3gp files.When I try to play them back, each program either crashes (Quicktime, VLC), or tells me that it cannot playback this type of codec (Windows Media Player).The videos playback fine on the phone, just not when I bring them over to my PC.I am running Android 2.1 and Vista. Any help is appreciated.

Jan 13, 2010I'm trying to play videos from a site, its a MP4 and when I click on it loads but then I get an a message of "Cannot play video, Sorry, this video cannot be played." The video also gives me the option to play it as a WMV, when I download the WMV version it wont play. All it does is play the audio, the actual video won't play. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to download an app, if so what app?

Nov 17, 2010I just received an MP4 video that plays really well on my Hero. But it is not visible in the photo gallery of my phone. It's grayed out. When I go into my SD card with a file manager and click on it the movie will play perfectly but it won't play though the photo gallery manager.My real issue is that I have to go into a file manager to find the file and play it instead of using a widget to call up a program that will play it. There is obviously something in the phone that can handle the MP4 format and I just need to know what program to use.

Now i tried to play a video file .3gp from the internet youtube link via my android device ! not emulator. And it worked! But when i tried to play a video file .3gp or .mp4( i converted the mp4 from 3gp ) its not working. Im getting error "Cannot play video Sorry, this video cannot be played"
Tried to play with the link to my device wich is: I:DCIM100MEDIAVIDEO0030.3gp or .mp4 or tried this: I:/DCIM/100MEDIA/VIDEO0030.3gp with "" like: "I:/DCIM/100MEDIA/VIDEO0030.3gp ";
I tried to remove the I: but it didn't change anything.This is the main code im using to play the video files on my device. And there some lines i marked with // wich i used to play from the internet and im not using now.

Nov 16, 2010My phone is working very well and plays .wmv file all the time. I had a .wmv file that I wanted to edit and shorten. I got the software and did the job and put it back on my phone. When I try to play it all I get is the sound now and no video. I checked the size of the video and it's still the same size but while the media player shows the progress and it rolls in to the landscape mode it won't show the picture.
