Has anyone noticed improvements to the Hero camcorder video quality under Android 2.1? I thought I remember hearing that the upgrade might improve this. It's not a big deal, but I was hoping the recorded video would be smoother than the 15 fps under the 1.5 OS. I don't see a difference, but wanted to hear some other opinions.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the actual hardware capability of this device's Camcorder actually is, or, in other words, what is the possibility of a software app/firmware upgrade in being able to improve the quality of the Sprint Hero's recorded video? The video examples which I have seen so far on YouTube seem good, but the only thing tugging between my getting an Instinct HD for Christmas, vs. the Sprint Hero, is the video quality difference. So long as a very real potential exists to narrow the gap between the two in regards to this issue, then I will most likely feel confident in springing for the Hero.

A 5mp camera should be able to have very good quality don't you think? My friend has the i phone and i'm pretty sure its not better than 5mp and its video quality is amazing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have went through every option I can possibly think of and the quality looks bad. There is no difference upon selecting 720P than any other option. I have seen others test videos and mine is nowhere close.
Update: It seems it was a fluke. All is well with my Evo once again. You may tune back in to your regularly scheduled program.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDue to the multi-tasking capability of the DROID, you can fire up MotoTorch LED to have the LEDs on and then fire up the camcorder for some low-light video recording. Works okay for what it is. I don't think MotoTorch LED fires the LED at full blast like when you take a photo, but it works decently well.

They come out as .3gp files.When I try to play them back, each program either crashes (Quicktime, VLC), or tells me that it cannot playback this type of codec (Windows Media Player).The videos playback fine on the phone, just not when I bring them over to my PC.I am running Android 2.1 and Vista. No ROM leak though.During the past few weeks my my Hero has been exhibiting signs of a ROM memory leak. It led to not being able to receive SMS messages even after hard resetting the phone. The video also gives me the option to play it as a WMV, when I download the WMV version it wont play. All it does is play the audio, the actual video won't play.
