I am having problems with auto sync with gmail contacts. The gmail and google calendar auto sync fine, but whenever I add a contact I always have to do a manual sync on the phone to get the contact from my pc to phone or vice versa. It worked fine for a while but at some point just decided to stop.

If you go to menu > settings > accounts & sync, there is a checkbox for Auto-sync. This seems like the only way to have the weather on the flipclock widget auto update.
However, I do NOT want Google contacts to be auto-updated... I dont use Google contacts, all my contacts are Phone contacts, and I want to keep it that way.
Is there a solution?
anyone experience this within the last hour or so?I noticed that i had to sign back into my account on "Social Networking" in settings, but nothing is syncing back up. they are all still sync'd (if you go into a contact on the computer, there is a "note" in the "notes" section showing the link), but nothing is showing up. I'm guessing eventually it will download everything again and I just need to give it time, and I'm also sure it's a Facebook issue thing, since they just updated and tweaked their UI, but i was curious if anyone else noticed this.

I can sync them individually, but that would take forever.I know you can do them each independently. but I want to do ALL of them at once like it did when I first got my phone.Anyone know how to sync ALL OF THEM like it did in the beginning?

When 2.1 finishes, obviously I will lose everything. Will my contacts automatically show up on my hero once I set up my gmail account on the phone or is there more that I need to do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere is the deal, back in Jan when I finally got all my contacts sorted and edit after some issues with sync, I tuned off the Auto sync, with the idea that I would force a sync when I wanted to and I could watch what was going on.I have about 350-375 contacts in my phone currently. I want to play with some 2.1 roms so I need to get these synced to gmail so I dont loose them again. i can not get it to sync. I get :I have tried setting auto sync and still have an issue.
I recently had my phone replaced due to the dust under the screen issue. When I set up my new (refurb) phone with my gmail account, I had tons of contacts in my phone that I had never seen before. The girl at sprint said it imports all of my email contacts, and it looked like they had added contacts from email addresses I had only emailed once, that werent even in my contacts group on my email. They ended up wiping my contacts and transferring them over from my old hero. She said I should create a new gmail account, and use it ONLY for syncing my contacts, that way I dont get all the other email contacts in my phone also. Im wondering how I do this, because I want to set it up before 2.1 comes out for the hero, so when I upgrade to 2.1, I wont have the same issue.

Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?
No auto sync contacts on galaxy s? Samsung seem to have left out this feature, madness I tell you. or is it just me being stupid I did a quick google search and this appears to be the case .

I say 'deleting' loosely because when I look through my contacts none are there, however if someone sends me a text it has them saved with their number. I've searched through this forum but can't seem to find anyone else reporting this.I've had a G2 for approx 3 weeks now, however, the thing just won't sync Gmail as it should - either via Auto-sync or by manually trying. I've had a G1 for the last 12 months so feel experienced enough to know when something's not quite right. I am using the G2 in exactly the same locations as the G1 so it cannot be a reception issue. I've tried sending test emails from my work email address to my Gmail account: Out of the 10 test emails sent over the space of 8 hours, only 2 came through (the G2 was on Auto-Sync the whole time). The others eventually came through via a combination of manually instigating Sync (1 success) or, in most cases, having to switch the phone off and on - even this only worked twice. Whenever I sent emails from work to G1 they would appear on the phone instantly. There isn't a prob with the emails leaving my work domain as I can see that they have all been delivered successfully viewing my Gmail account over the web. If I leave the phone on the Data Synchronization screen, the round sync indicator is constantly running next to "Google Mail" and intermittantly pauses with the error message that "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shorlty". have also found that the reception doesn't appear to be as good as the G1 - I work in central London and live 10 miles south of the river.I'm running FW 1.5 Kernal 2.6.27-a5504199 Software 1.0.0.A6288

Is there a way to transfer my Facebook Contacts into my people contacts? When I upgraded to 2.1, I forgot to sync a few contacts. The names show up, but as Facebook contacts and I want them as people contacts. Also, is there a way to delete Facebook contacts?

View 16 Replies View RelatedSpent yesterday evening playing around with my new Hero...Pretty cool phone. One thing I do miss from my Blackberry is the automatic power on and off. I had it set to turn off at 11 PM and back on at 6:30 AM.
Maybe the Hero does it and I just havent figured out who to do it...Or maybe theres an app?
After I updated my phone to 2.1 and I entered my info for my exchange mail account I had to enter a password that pops up every time I wake my phone up. Is there an app out there that can get around this for me? I had one when I had a Treo and I didn't need one on this phone until I updated.

So everyone has seen how the Auto-Rotation is on iPhone, Palm Pre' and Android handsets, and I was curious... shouldnt Android phones be able to do this task just as smooth as iPhone and Palm Pre'? Bringing this to my thought was the app "Floating Image". The Auto-Rotation on the app is amazing, and that just shows me, and makes me wonder, why cant all the other apps have the AR as smooth as this? (Even the keyboard). The slow delaying fade away is kind of a drawback (to an extent) know that Im 100% Android is capable of doing over and beyond that.

A couple of questions I can seem to find answered anywhere.
1. I can't figure out how uninstall apps.
2. I can't figure out how to set apps to auto-upgrade or what the function is to update all simultaneously. i've seen screenshots from others phone showing the "update all" function in Market. But it doesn't exist in mine. I'm wondering if that's because it doesn't exist for the Hero?
I need help on how to install Fresh (auto root). I am following the guide on how to root guidelines? I need to know if I need to download the fresh prekitchen 0.2 files first or can I go straight to the latest build Fresh Rom 2.0b + 2.0b2 (Android 2.1).
