I wiped my phone and this time decided not to integrate Facebook sync with my contacts. The whole dialer/contacts application runs so much more smoothly without Facebook sync installed. Anyone else experience this?

anyone experience this within the last hour or so?I noticed that i had to sign back into my account on "Social Networking" in settings, but nothing is syncing back up. they are all still sync'd (if you go into a contact on the computer, there is a "note" in the "notes" section showing the link), but nothing is showing up. I'm guessing eventually it will download everything again and I just need to give it time, and I'm also sure it's a Facebook issue thing, since they just updated and tweaked their UI, but i was curious if anyone else noticed this.

I only want to sync contacts manually to their facebook account and not some random people (who I only added for networking) to appear in my phone contact list.

This is hard to explain, and I've searched (probably badly) and can't find the answer.If I hit the "phone" button on my cdma hero, it pulls up a list of people that have called or been called recently. Let's say one of those is in my contact list (my wife, for example), and she has multiple numbers (work, cell, etc.).I know i can click the little card on the left side, but it would be great to be able to swipe side to side on her to switch numbers, but that doesn't seem to work.You would think it would b/c there are little arrows beside the number for people that I have multiple numbers on.Is there any way to do this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running basic Sprint 2.1 rooted. I've removed all the bloatware, and wireless tether is working great. Pretty much everything is working great, actually, aside from the standard dialer and contact lag many people have reported, plus occasional lag in other areas.
So here's my question: Is there a custom ROM out there that solves the lagginess problem while leaving everything else basically functional and intact? I've been reading the threads around all the various ROMs, and while it seems that some offer real advantages in various areas, it also appears that each introduces its own new set of problems and dysfunctions. While I'd love a snappier phone, I don't want a bunch of new bugs, worse battery life, whatever. I mean, based on the threads here, the average custom ROM user's experience would seem to be slightly worse than my experience with the standard Sprint release.
I miss typing in someones name on my BB keyboard and then pressing their name to call them. Love the Hero though. I know the hero can do this, but there are two things I dislike: 1. It uses a keypad not a keyboard. 2. The keypad takes up so much space that you can only see 2.5 names at a time, not 7 or 8+ like a BB. (I know about pressing the button to remove the keypad to see more names) Is there any way of changing #1 or #2 on my Hero? Also, What is the fastest way to copy someone's number and paste it in a text message to someone else? A task I seem to do more often than I would like. The send contact as a vcard is cool, but not all phones can read vcards.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try:
1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data:
a. Calender
b. Calender Storage
c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager
d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
e. Facebook for HTC Snese
f. Gmail
g. Gmail Storage
h. My Uploads
i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.

View 19 Replies View RelatedEver since I flashed to this ROM, I haven't been able to sync none of my contacts through the People app even though it says "all contacts synced" within Accounts & Sync. When I try to match a contact with their facebook account, "no matches" show and I don't even have a list of who I can choose.
Does this have something to do with the PRL not being 60663? Mines says 60662. I've tried every solution that was said in the forums. Delete then restart then readd the account. Still nothing.
Should I just reflash? I don't want to but my contacts look so boring without their pictures and statuses
Is seems like only contacts I have saved in my Google contacts are being linked. I thought The Hero would sync all information from my Facebook contacts. So even if I have not saved them I would be able to access their information on my phone, similarly to Palm's Synergy. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it works?

However, when I go to the dialer page the phone shows both phone contacts and SIM contacts resulting in multiple duplicate contacts from where I copied from SIM to Phone when I first got the handset. And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. I was on 1.5 until earlier today when I upgraded to 2.1. My question is that when I had 1.5 i manually linked my phones contact list with the persons facebook page. I went into my contacts (reloaded through MS Exchange) and noticed that some of the Facebook photos were auto linked to a contact, but some were not. Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

I am signed in to Facebook through "Facebook for HTC Sense" (when I click "Add Account" and choose "Facebook," it won't do anything) but when I go to a contact and try to link to a friend, there is no one on the list. View 14 Replies View RelatedSince the last update, in my people app, which lists all my contacts, anyone with a facebook profile shows up twice. There are two identical entries, one after another, listed throughout all my contacts.
This is a gigantic PITA since it's effectively added another %50 to my contacts, making it more difficult to scroll thorough and choose a contact.
I'm running 2.1 on my Sprint HTC Hero and I didn't have any problems syncing my contacts to their Facebook accounts.
My problem is, is that the phone took every friend off Facebook and put them in my contacts. How do I take that off. I don't need all 856 of my facebook friends in my phone. And to make it worse half of the numbers are like 1-800-Ask-Me.
I hate how my fb is linked to my phone. I dont like how I get all of my friends on fb as contacts. I dont need all that!! I went to people> menu> and then unselected facebook and stuff on there. So in my contact list, my fb friends contacts dont show.. GREAT!
But if I go to home screen and press phone. and if I scroll all the way to the bottom, the fb friends are all still there... How do I delete them? I long press and there is no delete contact option. I deleted all data on my phone of any fb stuff. What else can i do?
Im not sure what i did to cause this, but after syncing my phone today, I got my facebook friends' phone numbers added to my contacts. I went into the settings to delete the FB account on my phone, yet the people are still there. at first I thought it was kinda cool to have them all there, but its really a PITA. anyone know how to get rid of them from my contacts?
