Sprint HTC Hero : Need Auto Rooter For 2.1 / Does This Exist?
Sep 2, 2010I loved Fresh's Auto rooter through the kitchen. Is there a similar solution for phones that have stock 2.1 on them? How long does the manual process take? 60 minutes?

Plain and simple, I'm sick of waiting around for Sprint to release a version of 2.1, I want the full android experience. That being said after reading through the root manuals and faqs I still am not sure if it can be done easily on a mac. I'm hoping someone might have some insight for me, or possibly an autorooter that is mac friendly.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI passed all the root tests in Fresh Kitchen and am ready to root. It is not clear to me if I need to wipe (I have stock ROM, don't think I need to wipe from what I read but want to be sure).Don't know if I need to have SD card mounted before starting rooting process. This is unclear in everything I read.Don't know when and how the backup process is done, after the Root or before? The backup process is unclear also.Don't know what RA is? I see it referred to but can't figure it out.I watched the videos on Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.3 and am still unclear on the questions above. Are there written instruction on how to use Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.3 to Root?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTheres an annoying little feature on the 1.5 Sense's browser, and that is the frequent "Retrieving Sign-In Details" message that pop-ups when launching the web browser. Now that there have been some leaked 2.1 Sense ROM's out there, can anyone clear up whether or not the coming 2.1 update will finally be without this annoying message? Or does it still exist in the 2.1 Sense?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAre these the same? I have searched the forum, and can't seem to find the answer. I don't find any "auto brightness" setting in the settings menu on the Hero. I have auto backlight unchecked. What exactly does this do? Is this the screen dimming? Sorry, I am confused. Uh oh! Must be a senior moment!
While I am showing off photos I have on my phone, the screen dims...how do I keep this from happening?
Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?
I listen to Pandora in my car via Bluetooth every time I go somewhere. It's slightly annoying to have to launch the app every time. I'm wondering if there's an app out there that will automatically launch a program when my phone is paired with a specific device (like the Pioneer deck in my car).
I'd like my music to start up automatically when I start my car.
Is there a way to send text messages automatically when entering sprint network. Sometimes I send text messages while on the train. I set it to Sprint only to avoid roaming charges. My old phone would automatically send. This one I have to resend. Are there settings to auto send when entering the sprint network?

View 16 Replies View RelatedSpent yesterday evening playing around with my new Hero...Pretty cool phone. One thing I do miss from my Blackberry is the automatic power on and off. I had it set to turn off at 11 PM and back on at 6:30 AM.
Maybe the Hero does it and I just havent figured out who to do it...Or maybe theres an app?
After I updated my phone to 2.1 and I entered my info for my exchange mail account I had to enter a password that pops up every time I wake my phone up. Is there an app out there that can get around this for me? I had one when I had a Treo and I didn't need one on this phone until I updated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with auto sync with gmail contacts. The gmail and google calendar auto sync fine, but whenever I add a contact I always have to do a manual sync on the phone to get the contact from my pc to phone or vice versa. It worked fine for a while but at some point just decided to stop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust curious about Android OS Auto-Rotation system, and how it matches up to competitors. Before anything I am NOT complaining, just a thought.
So everyone has seen how the Auto-Rotation is on iPhone, Palm Pre' and Android handsets, and I was curious... shouldnt Android phones be able to do this task just as smooth as iPhone and Palm Pre'? Bringing this to my thought was the app "Floating Image". The Auto-Rotation on the app is amazing, and that just shows me, and makes me wonder, why cant all the other apps have the AR as smooth as this? (Even the keyboard). The slow delaying fade away is kind of a drawback (to an extent) know that Im 100% Android is capable of doing over and beyond that.
I have a normal hero and im looking to root my phone but i have no idea how. someone told me to auto root it because its VERY easy, but where do i go about auto rooting it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android. Just got a HTC Hero yesterday, with the latest update of 2.2.
A couple of questions I can seem to find answered anywhere.
1. I can't figure out how uninstall apps.
2. I can't figure out how to set apps to auto-upgrade or what the function is to update all simultaneously. i've seen screenshots from others phone showing the "update all" function in Market. But it doesn't exist in mine. I'm wondering if that's because it doesn't exist for the Hero?
I need help on how to install Fresh (auto root). I am following the guide on how to root guidelines? I need to know if I need to download the fresh prekitchen 0.2 files first or can I go straight to the latest build Fresh Rom 2.0b + 2.0b2 (Android 2.1).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI regret this so much and I should think next time, but I tried to clean my usb port with automotive brake cleaner because it wasn't charging. This MELTED my home and back buttons so they don't click anymore, started to dissolve the exterior paint, and damaged some of the interior plastic parts near the usb port.I took it apart and the board looks good, just some of the plastic interior parts disfigured a little bit, hence the home and back buttons not "clicking". I rinse off the bottom part of the phone with denatured alcohol to try and get rid of any extra brake cleaner and now I have the components sitting in a plastic baggy full of rice for the night. Does anybody know if the dummy phones in stores have working buttons? I'm thinking of buying a dummy phone b/c all I need is the front housing and working buttons.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIf you go to menu > settings > accounts & sync, there is a checkbox for Auto-sync. This seems like the only way to have the weather on the flipclock widget auto update.
However, I do NOT want Google contacts to be auto-updated... I dont use Google contacts, all my contacts are Phone contacts, and I want to keep it that way.
Is there a solution?
I have recently upgraded from an Samsung Instinct to an HTC Hero. I am currently on my second phone. The first one had a major OS glitch. As the service tech stated it was possessed. I am into my new replacement for about 2 weeks now. Currently, I am having horrible luck with the phone. The keyboard lags, the phone auto dials random numbers while scrolling the phone book and today while talking to my wife it made a conference call to my wife. Also the weather feature on the clock won't update the location unless I manually refresh it. These are just a few of the things I have noticed. I currently am running advanced app killer to save on battery life and the phone is up to date on the software. My brother has an HTC Touch through T-Mobile and it rocks and I have other friends with android phones and they don't experience the same issues.

i started with a stock N1 running unrooted froyo, then i unlocked the bootloader using the command "fastboot-windows oem unlock". i know that it is in fact unlocked because i see the open lock icon when the phone starts up now and i also see the **UNLOCKED** text in the bootloader menu. now I'm trying to use cyanogen's quick rooter (stock kernel) from here: Quick rooter for stock FroYo systems + 2.6.34 kernel - xda-developers. renamed it to update.zip (made sure it's not update.zip.zip), copied it to sdcard and I'm flashing it the same way i did the froyo update from the recovery menu but I'm getting an error saying signature verification failed. why would i still be getting this message after unlocking the bootloader?
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings. If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
