When I try and sync my contacts from my phone to google the phone Say's and always has done:
Sync is currently experiencing problems, It will be back shortly.
I'm on a stock OS with the latest updated ROM.

I need some guidence please. I've been on a mission to sync my contacts to my PC and have failed. I understand the GMail Sync is there for me also, well i see i have apparently established an account when i first got the phone. The settings show it does sync with Google (show's last sync time stamp etc) but how do i view my account if i don't remember sign-in/password? I think i would need to start a new one (GMail Account) and this time save the log-in data.Two questions:
1. Can i retrieve from my phone the original Gmail info that is currently there?
2. If i need to create a new account; how to change it in the phone
In my search for contact back-ups i stumbled upon the Microsoft My Phone, has anyone had any experience with this?
I've just moved all my contacts from sim to phone, now I want to sync my contacts to my gmail account, is this possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my Droid there was a setting to only sync Facebook data for contacts who also were Google contacts. On the X, there doesn't seem to be that option anymore. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?

I tried forcing sync and everything, no go.I am looking for a program that will only backup my contacts , dont need anything else.
This is because im thinking of a factory wipe & installing custom roms, so a android backup wont do any good for me.Is there anything free available?
After I updated my Hero to Android 2.1 I only find my sim contacts in my adressbook. I still has my contacts on the Gmail, but it wont sync.
When I look in my Google sync options the updated date is 25/09/1980 20.46.
The sync icon (white with some round arrows) is showing, but it has frozen. I have tried re-checked the sync button and restarted the phone, but nothing happens..
There are alot of Threads/Post on Contacts Sync etc. I haven't found the answer though to my question, so here it goes.
Can i sync my Contacts to my PC and not use Google or the Exchange Sync? Just make a separate folder for them in the event of a phone crash etc. Maybe make a folder to put on my SD Card?

Every time I add a new contact it goes under "phone". I'd like it to go under "Google" where it would sync and be done with, but I also would like the current 6 I have under "Phone" to go to "Google".

I deleted all my outlook entries (calendar and contacts) from the phone because it was creating duplicates. Now, I am syncing my Hero with my Lotus Notes calendar at work, as well with my Google calendar. I can see all appointments on my phone. However, I can't see Lotus appointments on my Google account, neither my Google calendar entries on my Lotus Notes.
How can I sync them all? If I import my Google entries into Lotus, it will create duplicates in the Phone and vice-versa.
I don't see any advantages for Google entries to be separated from my other entries. I have one list of contacts and that list should be the same across all programs I use. The same for calendars (actually it is useful to have multiple calendars, as long as no duplicates exists).
That, for me, is the biggest drawback of the HTC Hero. My Moto Q was a lot worse phone than the Hero, but the calendar and contacts sync was much better.
I'm having a real problem with my phone. My contacts are set up to sync with google which works fine. All my contacts are Google contacts. However, if I create a new contact (setting it as a Google contact), then when it syncs with Google, rather than creating the contact in my GMail account it wipes the contact from my phone.I can't be the only person experiencing this, is there a solution?

View 29 Replies View RelatedI just installed the ContactSync app on my Hero, and all my contacts are easily been transformed into google contacts. But when I try to sync contacts with Google, it thinks a bit and then comes with an error message:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
When I go into my gmail contacts, there are only 57 contacts out of the 173 I have the phone, plus some of them in my gmail has duplicates.
Had done a backup of my contacts using Secure Wave. Made as a CSV file via Secure Wave, which I could then import in my gmail. Fine, so now I had about 240 contacts in my gmail (Around 80 more than I had on my phone?)
That caused a bit of a problem since they apparently don't work in the same way.
So now I hava about 50 numbers that are now called "Mobile" when they on the phone was called "name Mobile" and a lot of unknown numbers labeled on the cell phone as they only had one name on the phone.
But i guess all this can be solved with a lot of editing on the computer. But then when I go into "view" menu under contacts it says I have 352 google contacts (should be about 173) and none phone contacts (Which is fine since they all got converted into google contacts) :S, plus when I'm inside contacts and look, I get the following error message every time my phone tries to sync with google:

Someone who knows what went wrong and how I solve it?

When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

1. I create a new contact on my phone and select my googlemail.com when asked "create contact under account"?
2. I save the newly added contact details
3. I then synchronise the phone
4. The newly created account gets deleted from the phone.
For clarification I'm not saving it to the SIM nor to the phone memory, just to my googlemail account.I've read elsewhere that there might be a problem since google added gmail.com accounts in the UK. I now have 2 google accounts (gmail and googlemail) but in practice both seem identical, if I try to sign in to my googlemail account I end up in my gmail account so I doubt if this is the issue. I've tried deleting my googlemail account from my phone with the intention of replacing it with my new gmail account but I get the message that other applications rely on this account and that the only way to remove the account is to do a factory reset. If I create contacts in my gmail account off-line and synchronise my phone then these contacts appear on my phone as expected. It seems strange that this application should delete a newly added contact on the phone but that is exactly what happens. I know I'm not the only one whose experienced this but I've never seen a conclusive resolution, anyone here know how to solve this?
I'm hoping to get my hands on an X10 soon and want to copy the contacts from my Hero across easily. I can't find an obvious export function. I thought that I could sync the phone contacts to my Google account. However, each time I try that, it comes up with an error message something like "Google Sync is currently experiencing problems", then I get a "Force Close" message.

After waiting for a while the phone was still not responding then I forced to shut down and turned it on again. Okay I again edited the same text and tap to choose receivers. Good grief! NO CONTACTS! View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I set up my Google account on my phone but my contacts do not appear in the "People" app. One solution I read was to check if the contacts were stored on the phone itself and not the Google account, however I checked and they are in fact stored under the "Google" option (People > View) When I click on the sub-option under Google ("Show auto Gmail contacts") then it shows *every* contact I've ever emailed in the "All" list, but it still doesn't show my groups that I've set up in the "My Contacts" list. So, how do I do this? All I want is for "My Contacts" to sync with my phone, not everything else.

View 20 Replies View RelatedOn a stock Android system, it is possible to disable sync for Google Contacts, Calendar, etc. Under Sense UI on the Incredible, there is no way to uncheck "contacts" under "Accounts & Sync" that I find. I have disabled the entire Background Sync, but of course that disables the Market. Is there a way to disable Google contacts sync that anyone has found?
