Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Missing PLAYNOW Service

I just got the X10 not long ago. Literally only a week ago to be honest. I could have sworn I saw the playnow service on there when I first booted it up. I performed an update like I was told by my provider (Rogers here in Canada) and it said there were no new updates. But when I looked just the other day the Playnow icon is missing from the Application folder. which describes others loosing the Icon as well. I've walked through it and I'm not finding it.The last post suggests going to http://m.sonyericsson.com/sam-resetplaynow through the mobile browser on the phone. What I get is a message from the sony ericsson site stating that the page has been moved or no longer exists.Is there a way to get this service back without unlocking my phone? I'll unlock it if I have to, but I really hope its not necessary.

I was wondering does anyone know if it possible to download and install the playNow application for the X10.The playnow application has been removed by my operator and replaced with there music application.I don't want to debrand the phone so I was wondering if there any way to get this application.

Two weeks ago I bought my new X10 and tried to install PlayNow. But PlayNow demanded an upgrade and started without the chooses of applications. It started always with the music selection and I havn't any chance to select another categorie. I made a software update for the firmware. I reinstalled PlayNow. But nothing changed. I have the german version and the mobile isn't branded. Furthermore the firmware is 1.6, baseband version 1.0.14 kernel version 2.6.29-rel with build number R1FA014.Please can you help me to get this application running?

Can someone help me. I turned on the playnow in mediascape and now it always force closes because of playnow. Is there a way to turn off playnow or fix the problem in anyway? A hard reset maybe?

I updated to R2BA020 firmware and then the PlayNow app disappeared. Originally the FW was xxxxx14, and that had PlayNow which I have used and downloaded a few apps from already. But after the new FW update, the PlayNow app has gone. Does anyone know how I can get it back?

Anyone has problem with their PlayNow in X10? Mine quit the very first time I launch the app. Since then, message will pop up every once in a while saying "The application PlayNow (process com.sonyericsson. playnowstore.android) has stopped unexpectedly. Pls try again.

I have just absorbed that while opening mediascape, Playnow also starts and runs in the background, is there any ways to disable playnow starting up. Playnow also sucks a bit of battery when it runs in the back ground.

Thinking of getting the Xperia X10 but waiting for 2.1 to come out first and see the response from this crowd (sorry for using you guys as guinea pigs. but all this talk about lack of MT but what will I truly be missing without it other than certain games. As an addition to that are there games out there that use don't use multitouch? I'm not looking for my Android to be a gaming device, I have my PS3 and my computer for that but I would like to play SOME games on it.
But, the main gist of this all is is the lack of MT really a problem? I know in this day and age, MT is taken for granted but yeah, is the phone severely crippling without it? I hope to be an Xperia X10 adopter soon.
EDIT: The title should be "what will I be missing without MT?" Damn you English! ;_;

I have a x10 mini. Does anyone out there have a problem with the media player not displaying the album cover. Transfering the music is fine and it plays fine but most of the album artwork is missing. Only one album displays the cover art.Any ideas on how to fix this?

Have just updated my X10 with the over the air software update. All went well and wanted to start a fresh so did a hard reset. Now when I go to the market there are a lot of apps missing (both free and purchased) such as 3G Watchdog, Meridian, Gem Miner. Anyone else experienced this, have made sure my location is the UK but still they are nowhere to be found even when searching for them (can find the free Gem Miner but not the full paid for version).

I am a Singaporean and I fly to Dubai often for business. Couple of days back I picked up the Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro at the Dubai Duty Free only to realise after I come home that there is no Android Market application installed on the phone! This is absolutely ridicious, why would I buy an android phone if I cannot access the marketplace? Also if this is the case, it should be clearly highlighted and not sold in places like duty free where you have visitors/travellers and not always the residents of that particular country purchasing the mobiles.

I used the default 'Notes' app in 1.6 to store lots of info (and my gf's xmas list!) and now in 2.1 it's empty.
I used the backup/restore and even ZIPped my SDCard separately in case of data loss but cannot work out how to retrieve my notes.

I see in some videos the google search bar in 2.1 is suppsoed to to have the little microphone icon to activate voice search. I flashed 2.1 rodgers firmare onto my x10a and when the phone boots I can see the icon for a few seconds then it deisapears!! Anyone else with the same problem? Was it something taken out by rodgers in their version of firmware?

when I tap the contacts icon on the bottom of the screen, my contacts are not there, only my own name. I can search for names in messaging and everyone from my phone contacts, to my facebook friends and even Fearne cotton from twitter is there! I would like just my phone contacts visible in my phone book. I've tried to back up contacts from before the software update yesterday, and it takes ages to get through to 100% but the names are still missing.

I found a used Xperia X10, I called the seller and he claims it is unlocked, and that ATT won't see it as a smart phone or whatever. I want the phone, but I want to make sure that ATT won't charge me randomly for data. So can I opt out of Data, or cancel data on the line if I get the phone. Is there a way I can get the phone, put in my SIM card and only use the calling and texting that I've been using currently on my Samsung Impression?

Yesterday my phone lost signal it wont come back took battery and chip out still nothing thought it might of been the chip or my network so tryed chip in another phone but it work fine , the xperia will connect connect to the wifi fine when im at home just wont find any network.

I'll be sending or reading a recieved text or reading through some old ones, and the messgaing service will crash, i'll then open handcent and the same thing will happen. it will come up with the message "the application has stopped unexpectedly.please try again" with options force close or wait, i'll select force close, re-open it and it comes up again.

My initial doubts about the x10 were over its specs, such as no multitouch and an apparently slow sticky interface
Now they are more about Sony Ericsson and how well they will support the phone with software updates etc. Several bad indications:
- Complaints have been made in the past about SE sucking at this for other phones
- Phone was due out Jan 18. Arrived more than 2 months later
- Phone came out with an old o/s (1.6) while other phones came out with 2.1 at the same time.
- SE have said they wont provide an update until the end of the year!! incredibly slow. By then android 2.8 will be out. pathetic
I want to get a well supported phone that is going to improve and evolve.

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and tried to use the Update Service to get the latest firmware for my phone, but after the new phone software was downloaded and started to install onto my phone it only got to a few millimeters of completing before it threw out an error saying that that it couldn't install the new software! Now my phone doesn't want to work anymore! Every time I start up the phone it just shows the x10 picture with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle! What should I do? I need my phone working to complete daily tasks!

i've been on my Xperia X10 for a few weeks now, I feel like i manage the phone and Android pretty well, but there is still one thing that I can't figure out. All the SE online help, the phone manual, phone electronic manual, even my phone carrier, all say that i can link my phone to facebook in my Online Service Accounts....Strange thing is that I do not have facebook listed there.

Ironicly i'm interested only in facebook. I've been searching this "bug", if that's what it is, for a while now, and I have not found anywhere mensioning anything of facebook not beeing listed there. Maybe I've done a poor search, but now I'm curious to see if anybody on this SE forum might know why facebook might not be listed in the Online Service Accounts.

I purchased an unlocked new Sony Xperia X10 from overseas because I was told it wasn't going to be released in the US. I had been waiting for the release since I had heard about the production of the phone and so I didn't care so much about the price. However, I recently went to an AT&T store and inadvertently saw my phone there and almost punched the first AT&T rep I saw for lying to me. I remained calm and asked if it was possible to get the AT&T software on my phone instead of the Telstra software applications that are non-functional and cannot be removed. They told me, "no, we dont do that, ask sony." Please, someone tell me I can somehow load the AT&T software to my phone, so I can use the applications that came with the phone, like MySync, Downloads, PlayNow, etc.. I spent so much money on this phone, and now it's available through AT&T for $150 with a 2 year contract; I wouldn't feel as terrible if mine could at least DO everything the AT&T one could.
