View 14 RepliesI'm new to Android and want to update the firmware. I keep reading about this Odin and was just wondering what it is?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i downloaded Odin and "I7500XXII5-PDA-CL64494-REV5(VIA).tar" with the intention of overwting my providers startup ads and bloatware and saw in the instructions that I should delete the cache.img file in I7500XXII5-PDA-CL64494-REV5(VIA).tar. However when i did that and try to flash, odin reports: "Check image files!!"
View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my phone, I've had 2 lines show up at the top of my screen in the past couple of days. They're both multi-coloured and definitely look glitchy. They show up even in boot screens, fastboot, recovery, etc. I thought it might have been a problem with Galax0 that I was running, so I tried to re-flash it with Odin, and Odin seems to finish, but the phone does not actually get flashed. It stays at my previous firmware, with all apps installed, but when it reboots with Odin, the screen doesn't work (except in between the two lines at the top, so I can just see the bar at the top). I pull the battery and reboot, and it works, but is very glitchy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a "backup" like the files that can be used to flash with Odin (phone, pda, bootloader and csc tar files)? That is, if I have a phone with some firmware I want to have in this format, how can I get it? I know about nandroid backup but that's a different format.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi think my gt-i7500 is bricked. i downloaded the 1.6 firmware(.tar) along with ODIN.. set up the downloading mode and used ODIN to flash it to 1.6. ODIN showed PASS in the window but the phone refuses to boot up. It remains frozen with the SAMSUNG sign. Recovery mode is not working either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got the Galaxy phone thru my operator in Serbia, Telenor (Telenor: Products and services / eShop / Phones / Mobile phones)
I tried to use the New PC Studio in order transfer my contacts to this new phone, but realized that it's an impossible task to do... a huge disappointment.
Anyways, after countless hours of trying to put my PC and Samsung Galaxy to work together, I finally succeeded in installing the latest version of PC Studio as instructed on this website, in order to be able to upgrade the firmware (my battery currently runs out quickly, the phone restarts or turns off with full battery once in a while, etc.)
However, although PC Studio now recognizes my phone, when I try to do the update, I get the following error message:
This device is not supported. The device you have selected does not support software upgrade.
i tried and tried to update my phone using NPS but i litteraly could end my life of aging and by that time it would still be crap and won't update. so i have decided to update my phone to get rid of the animation that my carrier put oh and because it will speed my phone and bettary stuff.. MY PHONE IS STILL IN H1!

2.what is the best firmwere?
3.i need hebrew on my phone , how do i install it later ?
and i heard that firmwere now dont come with google stuff ... will i still be able to sync my gmail and calander and contacts oh what about market?
Has anyone tried flashing the phone from a GNU/Linux box using odin? How safe is it?
I'm using Fedora 12 x86.
I'm trying to flash my new Galaxy using Odin (because I got it sim-free and I don't have the market). I'm doing this on WinXP inside VMWare on Linux, unfortunately. It had only this to say: <1> Added! <1> Detected!
That is, after I filled in the filename and pressed start, the two boxes went yellow and the timer began counting but there was no other output. I killed it after about 45 mins. I've tried this with the II5 (one file) and IH7 (multiple files) firmware versions linked to from this site. Now, I guess the obvious culprit here is VMWare, but it seems odd that it would find the device and then give up (and NPS and mass storage work as well as expected). Also, even if I don't connect the Galaxy to the PC, the only way I can find to leave the 'downloading...' screen is to pull out the battery - is that normal? I did try with native WinXP on an old laptop too, but it's a 7-year-old installation and it wasn't playing ball... so I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion for how to proceed that doesn't involve a fresh Windows install?
Alright this may have been asked a few times, or maybe it could not of been asked. I just can't find the thread related to answering this question.
Okay so my question is, can I flash Galaxo 1.6.2 or GAOSP "without" ODIN flashing or updating my firmware to 1.6? and not then what consequences would occur if I don't flash firmware update before GALAXO 1.6.2 flash. My phone firmware version is I7500ZHJA1 and I believe that is the latest firmware for my region which is still Android 1.5.
I'm sorry if there have been numerous posts about this but i couldnt find one with my specific problem.I tried connecting my galaxy s to Kies for the first time ever. I just installed Kies but whenever i connect my phone Kies tells me "This Device Is Not Supported By Kies" I've restarted my Phone and Computer. I've tried running it in USB Debugging mode and got nothing. Its extremely frustrating.if you have any questions about my problem feel free to ask and I'll gladly answer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUp until this morning I've had no problems with running ADB commands from my computer to my phone but now everytime I try to do so I get a Device Not Found error. My OS is XP and I've gone through the Device Manager looking for something that says ADB (that's what my memory tells me I should be seeing). Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? Or what device I may need to update the drivers on? Not sure why it suddenly started happening but it's hosing me on trying the latest GAOSP build (need to mount so that I can delete everything in the dbdata directory).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 on my N1 and now got if for my girlfriend's i7500. It installed fine but when I start it up and try to activate a map, the screen where it should show the device id is just empty (it shows a -). If I go to the About screen, it also doesn't show a device id. I contacted Sygic already but they don't know anything about the i7500 and Google doesn't really help either. My current guess is that it doesn't work with the internal memory card as the device id is apparently generated based on the sd card's serial number (Sygic used to distribute the software pre-installed on a sd card). So maybe the software can't recognise the serial number of the internal card and hence can't generate a device id...but that's just my guess. I just want to avoid wasting money to buy a microsd to install it on there if it turns out that the app is just not working with the i7500 for other reasons...
