Up until this morning I've had no problems with running ADB commands from my computer to my phone but now everytime I try to do so I get a Device Not Found error. My OS is XP and I've gone through the Device Manager looking for something that says ADB (that's what my memory tells me I should be seeing). Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? Or what device I may need to update the drivers on? Not sure why it suddenly started happening but it's hosing me on trying the latest GAOSP build (need to mount so that I can delete everything in the dbdata directory).

Trying to figure out which kernel source Samsung took to maybe extract a patch set and create a newer kernel. Has anybody figured out where they exactly took the kernel from? I found that they have which are not found in the android/msm.git, but in the MSM/QSD git repo here: Has anyone tried to figure out the exact version/commit that they took?

I've seen different posts about this, but none for the captivate, and none in the past month, so.Last night I rooted my captivate using the stickied thread in this forum. Worked great! Simple, and not much to it. I have the Superuser Permissions app in my app list. This morning I installed the android sdk and the drivers from the samsung website, enabled usb debugging on my phone, connected the phone, and did the following in my cmd prompt:.C:android-sdk-windows yes, that is the correct location of the android sdk folder) but all i'm getting is 'error: device not found'. I tried uninstalling my drivers and doing it again, this time connected to a different USB port, and still the same thing. Anyone have any insights? I'm able to successfully connect my phone to my machine and view it like a storage device (drag folders around, etc)

I am using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 on my N1 and now got if for my girlfriend's i7500. It installed fine but when I start it up and try to activate a map, the screen where it should show the device id is just empty (it shows a -). If I go to the About screen, it also doesn't show a device id. I contacted Sygic already but they don't know anything about the i7500 and Google doesn't really help either. My current guess is that it doesn't work with the internal memory card as the device id is apparently generated based on the sd card's serial number (Sygic used to distribute the software pre-installed on a sd card). So maybe the software can't recognise the serial number of the internal card and hence can't generate a device id...but that's just my guess. I just want to avoid wasting money to buy a microsd to install it on there if it turns out that the app is just not working with the i7500 for other reasons...

I got a new I7500 and wants to experiment with this. I could not get the adb working with this phone. The samsung software does not solve the adb issue. How can I get I7500 detected by Windows Vista as ADB device?

I'm following jonamerica's howto in removing bloatware, but when I get to "adb shell", I get "device not found". I've just mounted /system and am in ClockworkMod resovery, with USB connected (USB debug was enabled before I rebooted into recovery, do I need to enable USB debug while in recovery?).On my Windows XP device Manager shows Android Composite ADB Interface. When I type "adb shell", I get "error: device not found". adb devices lists nothing connected.I've searched this forum and googled a lot since bumping into this and haven't found a solution that works.

I have Alcatel OT-985, so I want flash&root, so I found this thread [URL] but I have errors in the first steps.
When I open adb shell I have this error: 'Device Not Found' error in Android. Drivers are installed, adb installed, everyting installed. Usb debuging checked. Windows 7 recognize device, but adb not.
I also have HTC Deire, and this phone working in adb, but Alcatel OT-985 - Device Not Found. Here is my screenshot.
Some texts say about to add manual device id and vendor number in adb_usb.ini
I tried that but cannot find this numbers...

I've already installed the drivers and my phone is recognized in the device manager. I already set my phone to usb debugging. I opened the command prompt in windows 7, then i followed the instructions, then i typed "adb devices" and it flashed "List of devices attached" only. when i typed "adb shell", it says "error: device not found".
How can I root my phone successfully?
My current software version is "V08b" and i'm sick of it because its full of bugs.
I tried to update my software using LGMobile Support Tool..it dectects my phone as LGP690 but it says that i have the latest version. But when i clicked "supporting models", it says that p690 is updateable to V10b..

K my frustration level is definitely climbing.I've checked and don't see anything related to this specific issue.I'm following the step by step instructions on RootYourDroid. Have tried both the custom recovery image (adb shell is what's getting me that message) and the busybox instructions. Each time, in the adb window when I try either option I get an "error: device not found" After doing some research, I found info saying it likely had something to do with the debugging drivers. So I uninstalled them, reinstalled them and went through that whole process again. Tried both the busybox and custom recovery image steps. Still getting the error message.
Anyone have any experience with this issue that might be willing to sling some help my way?

I know ADB was working before I updated to 2.1 root. Looking at the USB devices the current driver isn't compatible with the phone now. Is there a change I need to make to get the USB driver to work? Yes I have USB debugging on.

Have you ever picked up your wonderful device and heard it squeak? And even in normal handle I'm sure you've heard this happen. Well, if you look close enough it only happens on the right lower side when you press in.
On the left side there is a hinge that the cover connects into, while on the right side there is the microSD slot. This is where the plastic presses in as there is not a hinge keeping it tight.Fix ideas anyone? Any way to fill up the SD space?

I am having this error "device not found" when I try to push a file. It's not a driver problem, it's not a USB connection problem. ADB commands work until the point where I try to push the file. Then I see "device not found".
I might be doing something wrong, I'm pretty new at this stuff. Or it might be just that the root access to my device has problems.
Here's what I do:
Code:
c:adb>adb devices
List of devices attached
3556*********09 device
c:adb>adb shell
shell@android:/ $ su
su
[Code] .....
I've also tried to push "build.prop" directly from my computer but get the same error.
I must mention that - strangely (to me at least) - after mounting /system as RW, I check the permissions using ES File Explorer's Root Explorer, they are shown as RW, I try to edit "build.prop" directly and I still get "cannot save file".
When I try to change permissions of the file using Total Commander -- to -rw-rw-rw -- I manage to do this ("Operation successful") but I am still unable to edit the file or overwrite it.

I've installed AndroidSDK and have the drives download but every time I point Windows to the folder it says no drivers were found for my device. I'm trying to do this with the phone being recognized as an ADB device.
I got the PC to recognize my phone by installing HTC Sync but in the Device Manager it still shows a yellow exclamation point.
When I troubleshoot it, it says Windows can not launch driver "Error 37". Anyone know what's wrong? I have my phone rooted using the PB00IMG.zip file but can not complete the recovery partition due to the Windows not being able to communicate with my Eris.

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

Does GAOSP Froyo support live wallpapers for i7500? If yes, can you recommend some that seem to run fine without (major) slowdown? I would suspect that the CPU is too slow to run most live wallpapers, but there might be some neat ones that are good to go?
