Is there a way to delete preinstalled apps on the Vibrant?If I can get rid of them how I do disable them? I keep using task killer to kill these apps but they start on their own.

So I was under the impression that flash was preinstalled on the Vibrant. Silly, right. Anyone tried using froyo? Does it work ok? Any issues?

View 10 Replies View RelatedDoes the Vibrant on T-Mobile USA come with Google navigation preinstalled or is it a separate download. My aunt bought one and I was trying to tell her about it and she said the man at the store said you had to pay $10 a month for GPS on the phone and I told her that was BS unless they specifically blocked it from being installed.
She lives in another city so I won't be able to play with the phone for a while. She looked and said she didn't think she saw the navigation icon.
I titanium backup on my captivate and i backed up all the at&t preinstalled apps on my sd card (navigator, maps, radio,etc).i was wondering if i uninstall them will it mess up my captivate?? i wanna freeze them but u have to pay 4.00 for the other version and im trying to stay cheap and if i uninstall them can i put them back on using the backup?

I just got my Sprint HTC Hero Android phone and I noticed that it comes preloaded with FACEBOOK. While I know that most people would consider that great, I don't. Do to my job, I am prohibited from using FACEBOOK or MYSPACE and therefore, would have absolutly no use for the application. View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my Vibrant, I created a file called .nomedia with a view to place a ringtone file in it so that the ringtone file would not show in the music player library. However it has had the effect of hiding ALL my media files from my phone - non are accessible. When I mount (to a Mac) I cannot see a file named .nomedia and so cannot delete it, but all my media files are there. How to I get rid of the .nomedia file i cannot see?

Awesome phone and this forum has already been a huge help, so I figured I'd join and ask my first question.The phone of course came with some apps already installed. I went to uninstall them, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to do it with out getting all into moving files and all that stuff? I basically want to get rid of Friend Stream and the Desk Clock (since the other app, Clock, has the desk clock and is the same thing, just a different default setting when you open it).I'd like to maybe ditch the GMail app too, because the Mail app is set up to my gmail and does everything I want it to do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedU mainly wanted to root to remove the unwanted apps preinstalled on my phone because I was tired of running out of space. I rooted successfully via Odin. downloaded root installer and removed the unwanted apps. Then I started playing around with other apps. But now when I try to use any of them I get "app was denied super user permission" and telling me I need to be rooted. I tried factory reset but that didn't work. In fact, I now can't even use app uninstaller to remove those apps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new Xperia X8 but when i tested it at the shop I couldn't find 2 features that should be bloody basic standard for nearly EVERY OS out there. These features are:
1. A standard File-Explorer (for fast cross access of Photos, Sound, Music etc.nearly every mobile phone since 2000 had this feature)
2. A App-Manager to uninstall these tons of preinstalled apps I personaly will never use (like Doodle-Jump, Crazy Penguins etc.)
I am a PC User for aprox. 20 Years now and these features are exteme important for me. However I never really was in a situation where an Operating System came without a file-explorer even Windows 3.11 in the good old days had this feature directly implemented.The Man who sold me the phone said, I should test it at home and when I'm not compfortable with it, I could bring it back but I hope someone here can show me these features.
So far I've added: No Lock - this is awesome! It allows me to simply push the side button and the phone is on. No more swiping!
Battery Indicator- This is AWESOME. It shows me what percentage my battery is at AND allows me to control GPS, WIFI, Blutooth, and display all from this widget.
Google Voice- so I can read my voicemails
Ringdroid- to customize ringtones
History Eraser- Gives you the option to delete call log, contacts, browser, apps, or misc. things.
These are the *useful* apps for this particular phone that I have found so far. I will add more as I come across them. Please post your suggestions!
I rooted my phone, installed lagfix, and removed some bloatware from the phone via Titanium. The phone was stupid fast after doing this, almost everything loaded up instantly. However I started to notice some things weren't functioning properly. Apps on the marketplace would not download, I would try to download Launcher Pro and nothing would happen, nothing downloaded. Tried this with other apps, same thing. I rebooted the phone and noticed upon reboot that a force close/app error happened, not sure which app it was but it had google in it. I have no idea what app it could have been since I only removed apps if I knew what they were like Slacker, Kindle, Sims etc. Maybe removing the Sims caused the error?
I also noticed that emails wouldn't send (or would take a long time) even when I was on wifi. And the XDA app wouldn't work. I would go to make a post, click the text input box, but it wouldn't let me move the text cursor. I would press the keyboard and nothing happened.
I removed a crap ton of apps but they weren't anything major. I also removed the samsung widgets since I would never use those. Guess I should have asked on the forums before removing so much stuff.
Which apps are okay to remove? Any ideas on which app could have caused the market to mess up?
Hi I really need help. my phone wasnt working normally so i went into recovery mode and wipe user data. when the phone rebooted a lot of messages with force closes keep coming. i cant open most google apps. i was rooted and then i unrooted and it didnt help so i rooted back.
View 18 Replies View RelatedThe vibrant is advertised as 16gb internal memory, however after all of whatever is on the 16gb we're left with about 12.75 give or take of room left. Now i see that 2gb is apparently reserved for apps and the like, while the other is for music,movies, and so on. here is where my questions begin...
What if I have more than 2gb of apps and games to install? Will it not let me or will it partition more room? I think its kind of stupid to have a phone with this much internal memory and only let 2gb of it be for apps and games, that is absolutely stupid. I may consider activating my 14 day buyers remouse should this be the case. (and its not really 2gb, its 1.58gb)
I do plan on getting an 8gb+ class 4 or above microsd card, can i install apps to this WITHOUT rooting? or is rooting needed?I really, REALLY, hope im not screwed over with only 2gb of wiggle room for apps and games. that will definately put a halt on things.

Most apps are well under 5MB, so you can easily install 500 to 1000 apps on your phone.Android 2.2 is due out for these phones in September, which allows you to move apps onto the 14GB partition if you need/want to."Any truth to being able to move apps to the bigger partition? Becuase this would definately put my mind at ease.I also read that its not your choice if you can, the developer has to enable it in said application. so that it gives you a choice of where to save it, or you can move it at a later date.
I did notice, however, that Asphalt 5 was 8mb but required 103mb of additional data to be downloaded. i was worried it would save it to the whimpy 1.58gb of space but alas, it was smarter than that, and saved it on to the 12gb part. But if the option in all/certain apps is to save it to sd (or in the vibrants case, the 12gb partition sd space, or an external SD card) that would be HUGE.
Is there a way to toggle the apps we have on our home screens on/off? Right now I don't have a live wallpaper but when I do (I change wallpapers often), I'd like to show some people the phone colors without the icons on it.
Is there any program/widget that anyone knows of that toggles them on/off?
Sometimes when I launch the "Messaging" application, it randomly opens a random app that I have been currently using.
Sometimes it works and just shows all of my messages. This is quite annoying and this has happened to me even after several factory resets.
Am I the only one with this issue? I have searched the forum but couldn't find a related thread.
