I titanium backup on my captivate and i backed up all the at&t preinstalled apps on my sd card (navigator, maps, radio,etc).i was wondering if i uninstall them will it mess up my captivate?? i wanna freeze them but u have to pay 4.00 for the other version and im trying to stay cheap and if i uninstall them can i put them back on using the backup?

So there are a bunch of apps that I have no desire to see on a regular basis. This is my first android phone (coming from a BB) and I could usually remove apps from the listing of core apps in the desktop software, but haven't learned how to do this with the Android OS. The specific apps I'm talking about are the ones that came on the phone like Twitter, Flickr, and Peep.

View 10 Replies View RelatedHow do you remove that annoying Samsung Galaxy S bookmark? Is there a file to delete since you cannot remove it through the phone? Go to browser. Go to bookmarks. See that one? Click on it. Enjoy what you see for the last time. Then go to bookmarks again. Click the last tab "history" on top. Find that galaxshelp entry in there, and it would have a yellow star to it, meaning that the history entry is bookmarked. Hit the star to un-bookmark. You are done.

Awesome phone and this forum has already been a huge help, so I figured I'd join and ask my first question.The phone of course came with some apps already installed. I went to uninstall them, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to do it with out getting all into moving files and all that stuff? I basically want to get rid of Friend Stream and the Desk Clock (since the other app, Clock, has the desk clock and is the same thing, just a different default setting when you open it).I'd like to maybe ditch the GMail app too, because the Mail app is set up to my gmail and does everything I want it to do.

View 10 Replies View RelatedU mainly wanted to root to remove the unwanted apps preinstalled on my phone because I was tired of running out of space. I rooted successfully via Odin. downloaded root installer and removed the unwanted apps. Then I started playing around with other apps. But now when I try to use any of them I get "app was denied super user permission" and telling me I need to be rooted. I tried factory reset but that didn't work. In fact, I now can't even use app uninstaller to remove those apps.

1. A standard File-Explorer (for fast cross access of Photos, Sound, Music etc.nearly every mobile phone since 2000 had this feature)
2. A App-Manager to uninstall these tons of preinstalled apps I personaly will never use (like Doodle-Jump, Crazy Penguins etc.)
I am a PC User for aprox. 20 Years now and these features are exteme important for me. However I never really was in a situation where an Operating System came without a file-explorer even Windows 3.11 in the good old days had this feature directly implemented.The Man who sold me the phone said, I should test it at home and when I'm not compfortable with it, I could bring it back but I hope someone here can show me these features.
I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

My aunt bought one and I was trying to tell her about it and she said the man at the store said you had to pay $10 a month for GPS on the phone and I told her that was BS unless they specifically blocked it from being installed.
She lives in another city so I won't be able to play with the phone for a while. She looked and said she didn't think she saw the navigation icon.

But damned if I can remove the tweet apps from my list of apps to keep down on clutter. There are several others that can go by the wayside as well, if I could figure out how.

How can I get all of my apps onto her phone? If I put my sim card in hers and sync w/ Appbrain will it install all of the apps I have on mine? If I put her sim card in my old Captivate and sync her Appbrain account will that erase my old apps and install hers?
