I'm working on a custom ROM for my Toshiba Thrive and I'd like to install some apps with data already placed on installation, but I can't find out how. An example would be ADW as a launcher. Right now, it boots and immediately goes to the welcome screen for a fresh install of ADW. I'd like to make a default theme for ADW so that when someone installs the ROM, they can avoid that initial setup of ADW.

View 2 Replies View RelatedU mainly wanted to root to remove the unwanted apps preinstalled on my phone because I was tired of running out of space. I rooted successfully via Odin. downloaded root installer and removed the unwanted apps. Then I started playing around with other apps. But now when I try to use any of them I get "app was denied super user permission" and telling me I need to be rooted. I tried factory reset but that didn't work. In fact, I now can't even use app uninstaller to remove those apps.

Awesome phone and this forum has already been a huge help, so I figured I'd join and ask my first question.The phone of course came with some apps already installed. I went to uninstall them, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to do it with out getting all into moving files and all that stuff? I basically want to get rid of Friend Stream and the Desk Clock (since the other app, Clock, has the desk clock and is the same thing, just a different default setting when you open it).I'd like to maybe ditch the GMail app too, because the Mail app is set up to my gmail and does everything I want it to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new Xperia X8 but when i tested it at the shop I couldn't find 2 features that should be bloody basic standard for nearly EVERY OS out there. These features are:
1. A standard File-Explorer (for fast cross access of Photos, Sound, Music etc.nearly every mobile phone since 2000 had this feature)
2. A App-Manager to uninstall these tons of preinstalled apps I personaly will never use (like Doodle-Jump, Crazy Penguins etc.)
I am a PC User for aprox. 20 Years now and these features are exteme important for me. However I never really was in a situation where an Operating System came without a file-explorer even Windows 3.11 in the good old days had this feature directly implemented.The Man who sold me the phone said, I should test it at home and when I'm not compfortable with it, I could bring it back but I hope someone here can show me these features.

I have this feature on my I9000 running GamerzROM (4.2.2) and I really miss it on my tablet.
The Cube is also running on 4.2.2 and is rooted. Is there any tweak or an app that can add this button?
to remove the apps i know you have to root and have something like root explorer but when i delete the app it returns when i close root explorer i have tried many programs and all the something. anyone know why this is and how to do it?

I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

The number of contacts is not predefined. Any thoughts on how to push this into a ContentProvider in one go? I basically dont want my application to worry about the hierarchy and bulk insert or something, I want to hand this responsibility over to the ContentProvider.
In a layout (linear, vertical) hierarchy I've got several view and one of them is a WebView. Is there a way to let the webview resize itself, to match it's content size? By the way the space left vary from one device to another (emulator vs Milestone vs Hero)..

However I can't seem to get things right using mock location data and would therefore appreciate your help. The method i'm having tries to set mock location data for the gps provider and tries to later retrievie it BUT: locationManager.setTestProviderEnabled("gps", true); seems to fail because i do not get any active location provider from the location manager. When I tried using a mock location provider with addTestProvider and give it my mock location, the LocationManager returns me this mock provider with getProviders(true) but then getLastKnownLocation returns null instead of the provided mock location.

My setup works for a single widget instance but for a second instance of the same widget the PendingIntent gets reused and as result the vital information that I'm sending as extra gets overwritten for the 1st instance. So I figured that I should pass widget ID as Intent data however as soon as I add Intent#setData I would see in the log that 2 separate Intents are appropriately fired but the Activity fails to pick it up so basically Activity will not come up and nothing happens (no error or warning ether)

1. system.shell
2. system.root
3. keypad (i dont use google voice stuff by the way)
In a single month they use lotsa data running into MBs instead of mere KBs
When I setup my A100 (running the ICS OTA update), I didn't have an SD card installed. It created it's own "fake" sdcard which applications use.
Now that I've added a real external sdcard, I can't get the applications to use that for their data instead of the "fake" location.
I've copied everything from the "fake" location to the new sdcard.
I suspect the problem is that the new, real sd card is called "external_sd" and the old, "fake" location is called "sdcard".
Do I need to reinstall those applications?
I am NOT trying to move applications to the external SD card; I just wants apps that normally store data there to do so instead of in the "fake" location.
Also, I am not rooted.
I've noticed that even when I have 3g or 4g, certain apps never connect to the Internet. The apps I've noticed that have this problem are sound Hound, Google now search, spotify and words with friends. These apps will fail to connect to the Internet and say I have no signal, yet I can open Google Chrome and open a Web page no problem (even pages I don't visit that aren't stored in cache) or use the Chive app.
