I'm a sprint user/subscriber for work and am planning on getting a virgin mobile samsung intercept for personal use (which also has android OS 2.1) can I take some or any of the preinstalled apps from my samsung EPIC and copy them to my other phone?

U mainly wanted to root to remove the unwanted apps preinstalled on my phone because I was tired of running out of space. I rooted successfully via Odin. downloaded root installer and removed the unwanted apps. Then I started playing around with other apps. But now when I try to use any of them I get "app was denied super user permission" and telling me I need to be rooted. I tried factory reset but that didn't work. In fact, I now can't even use app uninstaller to remove those apps.

Awesome phone and this forum has already been a huge help, so I figured I'd join and ask my first question.The phone of course came with some apps already installed. I went to uninstall them, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to do it with out getting all into moving files and all that stuff? I basically want to get rid of Friend Stream and the Desk Clock (since the other app, Clock, has the desk clock and is the same thing, just a different default setting when you open it).I'd like to maybe ditch the GMail app too, because the Mail app is set up to my gmail and does everything I want it to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new Xperia X8 but when i tested it at the shop I couldn't find 2 features that should be bloody basic standard for nearly EVERY OS out there. These features are:
1. A standard File-Explorer (for fast cross access of Photos, Sound, Music etc.nearly every mobile phone since 2000 had this feature)
2. A App-Manager to uninstall these tons of preinstalled apps I personaly will never use (like Doodle-Jump, Crazy Penguins etc.)
I am a PC User for aprox. 20 Years now and these features are exteme important for me. However I never really was in a situation where an Operating System came without a file-explorer even Windows 3.11 in the good old days had this feature directly implemented.The Man who sold me the phone said, I should test it at home and when I'm not compfortable with it, I could bring it back but I hope someone here can show me these features.

I've just noticed that the alarm clock app that came preinstalled has the following permissions:
-Your personal information- read call logs,read your contacts.
-Network communication-full network access.
-Phone calls- read phone status and identity.
-System tools-
-Network communications- view network communications, wifi connections.
-Development toos- test access to protected storage.
-Hardware controls-
-Run at start up.
- Modify system settings.
I'm probably missing something...
to remove the apps i know you have to root and have something like root explorer but when i delete the app it returns when i close root explorer i have tried many programs and all the something. anyone know why this is and how to do it?

I've lost half of my paid for apps I signed it to my Google account upon setting up the phone as normal. Everything seemed to work: Contacts and Calendar synchronized just fine, not so the Apps. The market seemed to recognize half of my paid apps, allowing me to download them for free again, but not the other half. I even did an App resore from my Hero using 'My backup' all to no avail. I'm still missing paid apps. They aren't even showing up in the Market any more, and if I download the free version and then try to upgrade it says there's no such App. Current paid for Apps that I'm missing and can't get back are:

I never had this problem on my rooted N1, however once I rooted Evo - it cannot see apps like NYTimes, bTunes, and basically any other app that's copy protected. I have read on XDA-forums that this has something to do with Market being affiliated with 'build.prop', but unclear as to what the fix for this will be, if any Right now, I am thinking of going back to stock because of this..

Turns out it's copy protected, which seems to be the problem. I'm running 2.1 on my milestone (rooted) but I've googled a bit, and other rooted people don't seem to have this problem.
